Title: "Spring Street" now on Rite Aid playlists
Post by: Bigtuna on March 25, 2008, 10:02:39 pm
Rite Aid, like most chain stores, plays the exact same thing through all their stores across the nation and today while I was shopping I heard the distinct "na na na na na na na" or however many na's haha...And I was so happy to hear it was SPRING STREET. This is a good sign because often labels push songs to store "radios" before actually releasing them. Such is the case with Daughtry's single "Feels Like Tonight." Which started playing in Rite Aid, Walgreens, Walmart, and many other chain stores before about 6 months before it went to radio.

Future single Spring Street? Bet on it.

Vive le difference! Nice to see someone who's "in-store radio" isn't owned
by Sony BMG. Its much more likely in Oz you'll here Delta or a Sony artist

Peace

I'm not a fan of Spring Street. But i guess it wouldn't matter since her last 2 singles didn't too well anyway.

how can Spring Street be the next single? They like..really don't want her to succeed or something.
ahah That's like...the least radio friendly and easy-to-listen to song on the record.

You have to listen to it a bunch of times before you start to really appreciate it and let's be honest...Americans aren't the most patient people.

yeah and to be honest, why are they starting to like do stuff with SS? they should have all focus for HOM right about now.

If "Hands On Me", the most radio friendly song on that album, didn't/isn't do(ing) anything, what makes them think "Spring Street" will? :?

Agreed, but HOM's unsuccess is no fault of the song

Its good that the songs playing but think "Fools Like Me" would make a better next single becuase of its catchy-ness (I have bad sp) :D

the first song from the album that got to me was Spring street after HOM and NF that I already knew. I think it's a good song and more catchy and radio friendly than fools like me. Spring street would be a good choice of course if there will be 3rd singiel. More than This, Home, or Come Undon would be a good choic as well

i'd be so happy if spring street became the single. i loved that song from the moment i heard it...but what happened to home. wasn't that supposed to be the next single? plus, as far i as i know, she's never played spring street live, so it hasn't been in any of her shows.

well yeah but you's are being negative towards the success of HOM so far. Sure its been a few weeks that it has been out on the radio but sometimes it just takes a while.

True, maybe it just feels like it has been around a lot longer to us bc we've known it for so long. God I hope it gets popular in time. :)

honestly the rhythm and nananana's are very catchy and i could see someone listening to their radio in their car singing nanananana...or however many their are, its catchy and i like it. so i think it is a good idea to have as a single, and that it is a storybook with a mother, a girl and her daughter growing up and starting their own new life independantly.

It's good that people are hearing the album in general. To be honest, it's kind of pointless if they don't know who sings it, but you know.

haha what can you do?

V's never played Spring Street live at any of her shows, has she?  It would seem to me she would be playing potential singles live to gauge audience reaction.   :?

I find it strange how some people don't see Spring Street as catchy at all. I think it is by far the catchiest song on the album.... I think it is by far the most radio friendly.

Hands On Me was always too abstract & complicated lyrically for my taste as a single and I also felt like NF was too much about being in the music industry and wasn't even that catchy.

*crosses fingers*

But maybe they were playing the entire album...sometimes music shops do that for newish CDs.

Almost as good as walking into a retail shop and hearing "Unsung" 8O I asked
the Department Manager how that was possible, to which he replied "we play
some pretty interesting music here". If only the CD player at work was OK

Peace

Spring Street is way too sad for me (in my opinion).

Still a great song, glad to see Vanessa is actually getting out there a little.

LOL, unless your store has some sort of problem, they play all the same as the other stores at the exact same time...you just gotta be there at the right time.

Yeah, there isn't a talking DJ or anything, they don't take requests...but they play Rite Aid commercials every now and then and sometimes like Tylenol commercials.

I really hope that Spring Street is the next single. I can totally envision a music video for it, and all of that. Also, she needs more promotion, so this is good....very good :)

so.. if come undone's on radio, and so is spring street.. i don't think both of them are going to be singles. so maybe spring street won't be the single. :)

Spring Street has a really strong meaning, I think it has a powerful story, even though the na na na's can come to annoy the hell out of you if listened over and over

THE POINT IS... I can't imagine it being the next single, because she doesn't even play it live. And as far as I can hear, there's not much piano playing involved, other than the bridge.

Maybe the radio station was just showcasing Vanessa's music *-*

Post by: itsthefiveofus on April 30, 2008, 01:06:21 pm
yeah these days, people are not going to want to sit and listen to a song over and over again to get the meaning. They either want a catchy rif/melody or lyrics

^ which sucks. b/c not many people care about substance anymore.

^So true, and as horrible as it sounds, it kinda shows how "musically ignorant" people kind of are. If it doesn't have a hot beat right away they let it go in one ear and out the other. And that's not to say all mainstream music is bad, but people don't really explore the music world anymore and it's a shame.

I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but I like the fact that V's music is not played on popular stations or MTV. I would HATE to see her videos right after Gimme More or an Ashlee Simpson song. It just doesn't feel right.

I like that only those who actually care about music substance and don't mind to discover real artists, listen to her :D

Everytime I mention her at school or whatever, I always get the same stupid answers... "yeah, that chick with the piano," "yeah, A Thousand Miles," or even worse, then they try to sing the main melody of ATM, it's just annoying and makes me wanna smack them, lol

I never hear it anywhere. Im just going to keep calling in and requesting VC! One time I did, and they played White Houses, which was nice!!!  :D
