Miley has been all over the news 'down under' this last week, but its been
more to do with fall-out from that Vanity Fair pic and content on myspace!

Let hope she can leave it to her music to do the talking and make carefull
decisions about her "image management" so she maintains her popularity
without having to dabble in material destined for media slanging matches.

I read that mothers are fuming over that picture, they say it's setting a bad example. But 5-10 year olds don't read Vanity Fair. They would never have seen that shot had it been left alone. But because of the parental uproar publishers and critics took over and now the little kids could very well see it. I mean parents are the ones who control what images their kids see.

I think it will be a little difficult for her to break away from her Hannah Montana image.. you know.. little 5 to 10 year olds idoling her. I think this was a step in that direction. She wants to become a serious song artist. Although.. even if it was supposed to be artistic, I think this was a little overboard.. I don't know. What do you think?

totally think it will be very hard to break away from that image! But I don't really see anything wrong with the picture. I don't see anything sluty about it at all, there has been worse. But thats just me.

um yeah, more pictures of her leaked from her myspace where she looks kind of slutty (sorry i dunno how else to word it) so i'm not surprised she would do something like that. & i think those pics on top of this & the fact that her young fans HAVE probably seen them (it's not hard, kids are smarter than we think) is why parents & the media are so up in arms about it imo.
also, did you guys see the video of her & her dad from the Vanity Fair shoot? it creeped me the hell out, they were posing like a couple.

i personally have lost any respect for her i ever had & i used to watch Hannah Montana so i did have some lol.

i totally agree. not only do they not read vanity fair, but they shouldnt have myspace's either. and if they do, its the parents fault for not blocking those kind of sites or watching their kids more carefully. i also heard from one of my friends she got disqualified from the disney channel games.

Well, now, be careful what you say. Those really slutty pictures going around on the Internet turned out to be a look-alike, not Miley herself. I knew something was wrong with those as soon as I got a good look at her nose.
But as for the Vanity Fair pictures, yeah, a few of them are kinda weird. But I don't think it's going to be as big a deal in the long run as some people would probably like it to be.
And as far as breaking away from Hannah Montana, I don't think she'll have nearly as big a problem as some of you seem to think. She's already begun to do a great job separating herself from it, and though she'll probably always be remembered for it, I think people are going to notice the difference. Her first album as Miley Cyrus, for example, has a decidedly different personality to it from that of the two Hannah Montana albums. Hannah Montana's music to me just sounds too patently Disney Channel, while Meet Miley Cyrus leans more towards mainstream pop.
And now for a couple statements of pure opinion, with little or no fact provided to back them up: Miley Cyrus gets my vote for most beautiful smile, ever. She also has one of the most pleasant voices, both speaking and singing, I have ever heard (except for the other night on the CMT Music Awards, where I hope it was from being either sick, overexerted, or inappropriately medicated [and I really hope it's not the last one]).

But I don't think her personal photos should be compared to the ones done for Vanity Fair. The photoshoot was supposed to be artsy, and was done with a photographer known for being controversial...
I honestly think the whole thing's been blown out of proportion; I mean, as if anyone from her viewer's demographics is going to see those pics and...meh, it's not that big of a deal.
Although those pics with her dad...bit creepy, I think. lol.

um you should know not to always believe what you read on the internet lol. & you shouldn't always believe what you see either, but i still say she looks EXACTLY like Miley. what source did you read it on? i'm all for giving celebs the benefit of the doubt because i know how it feels to have people criticizing someone you really like ALL the time..but i highly doubt that's a look alike.

AOL said in an article today that the slutty pictures were of her. i don't think the vanity fair backless photo is bad, i think it's tasteful and it's annie leibowitz for God's sake. the ones of her and her dad are just plain creepy.

Children are awesome and I do think they understand more concepts than most like to believe but if that's the case, then I fault the parents because a six year old has no need for a cell phone OR unsupervised access to the internet. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it does, but maybe if the parents don't want their kids to see "adult content" material then they shouldnt leave their kids free to roam to the cyberspace world. Seriously if a litlle kid is seeing pictures on myspace then Miley Cyrus should the LEAST of thier worries.

But yeah, the long and short of it is that Miley Cyrus is a real person, and Hannah Montana, well, she's not even fictional. Even in the fictional world she doesn't really exist! I'm sure that has something to do with it.
I just got to thinking night before last, that of all days and all places, I have to be in Nashville the very day her album drops. Will I even be able to hear Vanessa over that?

Not mine either, but with a little sister who listens to radio Disney in the car im going to have to hear her whether I like it or not.
Much as it pains me to say it, 7 Things is starting to really grow on me.
I'm interested to hear what the rest of her album sounds like...
7 things is the only song that I think I will ever kind of like. I only know the ones that they play on radio disney (radio disney sucks) but most of her other songs seem to be fluff.

I am listening to a leaked version of the album, and it sounds okay.
The only thing I really dislike about it is her covers of 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' (completely botched it) and 'Four Walls' (I like Cheyenne Kimbal's version better).

A couple of weeks ago I was watching Good Morning America and who was behind the drums playing with Miley Cyrus? None other than Nate!! (V's tour drummer from back in the day) I wasn't for sure but was 99.9% sure. I even left him a comment that I saw him but he didn't say anything. Well today there was an update from him and yes, he is touring with her. So catch him tonight on the Teen Choice Awards, drumming for Miley who he says,
has so much poise i can't believe how young she is. She's a total sweetheart,... moreover, she manages to run around the stage, dance her butt off, and still nail all the vocals. Not too many artists you can say that about. She has a real gift and she's a doll. Lemme tell ya, Miley is a super cool chick. She works her butt off, takes nothing for granted, and in concert, she'll always bring it.

She also covered an old Katy Perry song. I forget the name (it's not "see you again" is it?). So how many covers does she have? She bragged about writing a lot of the album so I find it interesting how she has all these covers on it.
& yes i agree she totally butchered "girls just wanna have fun" (i'm a huge Cyndi fan). & i also think Cheyenne's version of "four walls" is so much better.
i can't believe girls actually look up to Miley with SO many leaked pictures that a lot of people find inappropriate & also with her mocking her fellow Disney stars. she's so immature imo. sorry to any fans, that's just how i feel. sure other 15 year olds post pics like that all the time, but the difference is she's a Disney star. she knew what she was getting into when she decided to work for Disney, so i just feel like she should act more appropriate at times.

Completely off topic now, but it reminds me of a Cadillac I used to own. Reviews by the "experts" and people who never had one ripped it for not being a "true" Cadillac and being cheap but overpriced. But I never could say anything bad about it, and no one I ever met that had actually owned one could either.
I'm not saying Miley is a Cadillac, but it's easy to bash someone or something you know nothing about.

Dood her cd Breakout is actually a really good cd. It has like..really good tracks. A lot of them have been previously on ohter albums. Songs written by Katy Perry and Cheyenne Kimball.

I figured my fans would have a problem with it. And, honestly, I too would have a problem with it, but it would be hard to turn down the opportunity when I'm not making $ with my music and probably never will.

Yea I love her first single but I heard some tracks off the rest of her album and found them to be way, way too cheesy. But fun to listen to, I guess. Not horrible music, but not great.

I am going to say that I watched the Teen Choice awards and I totally liked the song she did. I am not positive but I think it was 7 Things.
I liked most of the other stuff she did on GMA too. Not sure I will buy the album because I just don't think I could bring myself to do it but it is okay.

If Disney drops her then I can see her doing the same as Lindsay or Hilary. Making some movies doing well for a while. But then coming to a downfall. Lindsay has had her obvious issues. She'll burn out.

I've been hearing that Hannah Montanna views are dropping and whatnot. Reguardng that I'm not sure whats true. If she's still banking that big then yeah they're business smart to keep her. But in my opinion her still having a job there shows how much more important money is to corporate Disney than the innocent entertainment of kids. Is that not the purpose of a kids network? Miley should understand this. If she wants to pursue a more "artistic" career then I think SHE would benefit to leave Disney. As much as I oppose, it IS her American right to be whomever she chooses. It just bothers me how money over rules these things. It's so disappointing, unsurprising, but none the less a disappointment.

Its not Disney thats droping her its her thats thinking about droping Disney. I didnt believe it but I looked it up and Disney responded with "When the third season (this seasons) contract is up theres an otion for a fourth season" OPTION.
I just so happen to believe (not think, but believe) she has a beautiful voice. :x
I think her voice is unique the reason she not my favorite is her stupid songs and popstar look when shed be better off country (thats my opinion dont get mad) it wouldnt have to be horrible country that none of her fans would like but more like Taylor Swift who is played on serius hits and the country station. (Taylor Swift I used to hate but shes growing on me I like "Picture To Burn")

I have no problem with her music. She's is not a bad singer at all. I would never critique that because my singing has the power to deafen unfortunate by standards lol :D Like I said the singing is not bad. The songs aren't my thing but that's my personal preference. I just think she could be a better role model.

I can understand completely. She does have a very country-suitable voice, and it really comes out in a few of her songs. There are a few, especially on her new album, that could possibly do well as a country song with little more than an instrumentation re-work, which is so commonly done nowadays on a country track that makes it big as a crossover.

Just because she can carry a tune and the tone of her voice isn't extremely grating to the ear doesn't make her a good singer. She has no finesse when singing at all. Vanessa isn't one to really hold out notes or use much vibrato either but with Miley she is so staccato it almost sounds more like talking than singing. It was the same with Hilary Duff, that is why I dislike them both. It sounds like they went into a studio and basically just talked the whole time and the techies used filters and pitch benders to actually make it come off as "singing".

I think several of her album tracks would pass more as songs than some of her singles, perhaps. Two of my favorites right now are "Full Circle" and "These Four Walls".

Miley just won a Nickelodeon KCA for favorite female singer last night. Dwayne Johnson just sprung the announcement on her while they were on stage together, and she came apart! She started crying because she was so sure she'd lost, and I got a tear in my eye. I love her so much!
