Title: Spamming
Post by: Will on June 02, 2008, 10:21:20 pm
We've been under attack by bots who have created tons of spam accounts for a long time. Over the past few weeks, the trickle has turned into a flood. Something will be done about it eventually, but for now, I'm just reviewing every registration by hand.

Just install a CAPTCHA image verification plugin, and boom, spam is gone :D

Not really.  Spammers have been breaking the more common ones.  GMail and Yahoo's have been broken, for example.

Just click the report button and it notifies a few of us.

We keep swapping out the captcha and adding different mods trying to prevent the spam.  Kelly (Trolan) just added a mod where it checks the registering IP address against a black list and that seems to have helped... plus we made it admin approval for any new users.

Yeah i know, ive done that in the past, but there were two pages full of spams, so... couldn't report all of them..

glad to know things are working ^^
