i think you did a good job, but you can't hear the vocals very well because the piano overpowers.. :(

yes I know I'll try to make one during which we could here better!
thanks for your messages! :)

Home ROCKS! You're one of the few here to have recorded it in full w. outro
so this is my fave cover of Home so far  BTW, I noticed you've got quite a
set of paws; I bet you can hit Alt+F12 with one hand (your left Alt key). I'm
using a logitec G11 so the span might actually be slightly less on yours. (http://media.gwn.com/hardware_reviews/14595946774521ca6b6d091.jpg) If
my move west works out I'll have an electronic keyboard to practice on 8)

The issue you've got there is a directional mic; with pick-up centred where
the handycam is pointed. Without a separate mic you'd have to set up the
camera further away from the keyboard to some extent - like this example (http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=H63eGwe11Q4&feature=related)

What Home loses with lyrics like oceans, five fathoms deep, it makes back
with the outro. Vanessa can continue to make lyrical gaffs like this so long
as she puts them to music this beautiful - still my fave track from H & T
Peace

Nice job on those :) I learned Home before the record came out with the outro and I'm kind of lazy so I never went back to learn that part. Is that fast part hard? It sounds really neat. I like your piano btw :)

i love the outro to "home".
i can do the first fast part easy, but the second one is tricky because my finger next to the little one always catches a key i don't want, lol.

i am having trouble with the part where the right hand changes and the lyrics are "some i have known..."
i have been doing it all along the same thing... G, C, E, C
but it seems as if u play it differently and Vanessa as well...
so can u help me out a bit? :D

well being as inexperienced as i am, never had a lesson, and i have no idea what notes go with what key for the sheet music [i know the values of them, like whole note, and stuff like that] but the parts that are now the live intro, and the left hand. but im just a beginner, if i learned home, i think i can learn white houses.

Speaking of stars, I'd love to hear "This night under stars, well I call it peace'
in your next cover, so that means one of your fave tunes from H&T I'm sure!
Looking at what was already on Youtube, I found this live version from April's
90th B-Day gig at Douglass College. High quality and with V in her best voice;

Oh, I actually recorded it a long time ago at my mom's house before I got married on a crappy camcorder... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qYptnUI_KM&feature=related I really do need to re-record those lol.
I am gonna go listen to White Houses and comment! :)

The real beauty of this piece lies in the sentiment of the subject. Its hard not
to listen to an instrumental version w/o the lyrics running through your head.
In this space, V's created a wonderful sense of relecting on love in one's past
;its like delving through old photos and having feelings come flooding back 8)

ahh, you'll get it in no time. i was like you (self-taught). the new intro is really easy, because the left hand is just the chorus chords, and the right hand is like B, Bb, Ab, F#, Eb...B, C#, Eb, C#, B, Bb, B.
-
i cant process the letter notes to the keys quite yet. :) but i'll try to do it. thanks.

Once you learn the 8 keys in one octave, it will be easy as pie :)
-
Yeah, then you just use the same intravals that you used in your first learned octave for the others. For the major keys it is always: whole-whole-half-whole-whole-whole-half. Starting with C major it is just all the white keys. For all corresponding Major keys it follows the same as C Major.
After using them you start learning them pretty well without counting. Oh, and also...you can put stickers or small pieces of paper held on with tape on the keys themselves with the name of the note. That might help.
