wait so she left The Inc.? This was cool. Definitely gives me hope for a new album!!
-
A NEW RELEASE BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That younds great.
-
Thanks for the article! Great little interview. I really enjoyed reading that.
I didn't hear anything about her leaving the Inc., but I guess she has? I'm happy and proud that she's getting to do what she finally wants, by her own terms. Hopefully someone'll record the show on Saturday (maybe she'll be playing some more new songs?) for those who aren't in the area.
And a new album before the end of the year! OMG!!!!
-
well it said she left universal not unless they meant A&M? I kinda read it quickly....
-

Didn't every single person on this board celebrate that when she was signed to The Inc. with all the huge support from Ivri? Didn't she said that herself about doing whatever she wanted?
I'm just saying, because I think she has been stating "finally having freedom in recording" since Harmonium.
anyway, thanks for updating that.
-
yay for a new alubm by the end of the year. i wonder if it's gonna be an independent release??
i'm pretty glad she left the inc. her being part of a hip-hop record company was strange to say the least.
-
THANK GOD NO MORE THE INC.!!! YAY! =D

THANK GOD NO MORE THE INC.!!! YAY! =D
Totally agree with you Cavin!
-
so wait is she with a new record label or still with the inc? I'm so lost
-
wow...shes a jumper....she should have went indie with h&t in my opinion......hopefully she starts her own label and picks a good distributer and the rest is history...she can do it...it's just gonna take a little more hands on work....it would be pointless for her to sign to another 'major' and really show that she doesn't have faith in herself...mandy moore did it, the donnas did it, it's the smartest thing to do for musical artists with her level of popularity.
of course those artists aren't all over mtv and mainstream networks but there is still so many ways to get your music heard in this day and age.
-
also glad she is talking about new music. :)

I think she can do it too! I mean look at Nine Inch Nails! they picked an awesome distributor and have no record label and release music whenever they want! It would be soooo cool if Vanessa could do that! =]
-
well, if she has left the inc it's the smartest business decision she's made since leaving A&M. both label's were useless. what pissed me off the most with the inc is that irv personally came on her forum and promised her fans (and V, no doubt) this huge heap of promotion & support and when it was eventually time to get their arses into gear with the record, they didn't.
so yeah, great move and i can't wait to hear new music!
-
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT article! So happy about the "carving out an alternative path" comment. In my eyes, she's always been an alternative kind of artist, and I'm glad that she's comfortable and happy about that role. Can't wait for the new album, it's going to be so amazing. And I agree with you guys about her doing what Mandy and NIN have done...that would be absolutely perfect for her and her music.
-
cant wait!
im so excited!
-
So she left The Inc. huh?
I thought that happened because they haven't done anything for her.
I remember meeting Irv in late '07 when they picked her up and he was so excited to promote her but, sadly, that never happened.
I guess this means she's going the indie route, good for her!
I hope we will get a tour like this Fall and I'm so gonna be there! I need my VC fix!
GO VANESSA! ;D
-
fall tour would be awesome.
-
New music by the end of the year? DEFINITELY excited about that!
Great article
-
of course she does not mean the inc. she is talking about past there... about a&m
-
the inc. isn't shit..it's universal....i believe she is indeed talking about her last deal with universal/inc. i belive she is now a freedom writer...awwww free.....
-
of course she does not mean the inc. she is talking about past there... about a&m
Yeah, I got that impression too...
-
A new CD from Vanessa thats great news!!! and if she goes indy no big deal she has lots of great fans that will buys her CD without a mega record label behind her and the money is better that way to
Dave

I think it's great that she is on her own. When the next album comes out, she won't be in hock to any label....and she will own the master, unlike the past 3 albums. I'd be interested in seeing how good a producer she is. She has plenty of people to bounce ideas off of, and could do a great job.
All the places I bought the previous CD's(Tower, Virgin Megastore) are all gone anyway. Who needs a label?

Yeah, I got that impression too...
She parted ways with Universal Records last year, sometime after the release of her 2007 album "Heroes and Thieves."
It's the Inc. She was long gone from A&M by that time.

She said in the interview Universal. The Inc. is PART of the Universal group of record labels. Duh, she definitely DOES mean The Inc. lol.
The "duh!" was at Thomas. Not anyone else. lol
-
I would really like her to find some stability in her career, maybe sign to a small label that doesn't expect her to sell millions of albums, and that she can stick with for at least a few years, and stop switching labels everytime she releases a new album.
-
I'm glad she wants to put out a new album by the end of the year. At least that means she is working on something :)
I hope the next album has more moody songs on it. Maybe she can include All Is Well (at least as a bonus!)
-
I don't care what she does (label-wise), as long as she keeps releasing music. :D
-
^ those are my thoughts exactly!
I'm not really caught up in industry politics.
-
I agree ^ ! So long as the songs keep coming!
