Annie. It is the best one to sing along.

awesome!

Papa, of course: so much fun to play the piano.
I think it's the best piano accompaniment/piece that she composed.
If only she had other pieces like it...

I have so many, it's really hard to choose just one. So I'll choose one from each album. ;D
Rinse: Dark Carnival, it explains so much of how one feels.
BNN: Pretty Baby, this song has always meant a lot to me, I've never really known why, cause I've never truly been in love.
Twilight, yes I know it's two but I love this song ever so much. I even named my cat after it! This was the first ballet costume I ever designed.
Harmonium: Afterglow, the words speak to me. Annie makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time. The wreckage gives me goose bumps and Who's to Say speaks miles!
H&T: The One, Stevie and V who could ask for anything more. Home it says so much of how I feel as does More Than This.
Ok I went a little crazy but I really cannot just pick one!

That's awesome really! It's really hard to choose, really.
I think I misanderstood, but you put your cat Twilight? If that's right that's the most hilarious thing i've ever heard in my whole life. Ha-ha!. Jesus, I'd never though about it. ;D
Okei, thanks 4 your answer, I loved it, very detail ;)

Yeah I named my cat Twilight she's black and white and she was a stray. And I was listening to V when I found her.
This was way before the stupid book craze.

White Houses. That song has helped me through so much. I first heard it when I was 14. Still my favorite song ever.

Really??
Aweesome,
White Houses is my favorite song (an Best Behaviour) and I'm also 14. ;D

As of right now, I'm changing my favorite song to "London."
I feel a connection to the lyrics... or just the mood of the song.
I'm not totally sure.
:P
-
London is just a precious yet powerful song. I cannot wait for a studio version! Then a remix. I am really liking the melancholic direction her new performance pieces are taking. Studio versions for all.
-
Hmm....oh my gosh, there's too many!
But if I have to choose, I'd choose "White Houses" because it was the song that made me re-discover her.
After "A Thousand Miles," I'd actually forgotten about her *gasps*. I remember, back in '07 (I think), I googled her name, came up with her website. My reaction: Oh, really? Her new album's called "Heroes & Thieves"? The next day, I forgot her name. Again.
I remembered the name last summer. I googled a random word which just so happened to be "harmonium" and came up with "Harmonium is the second album of Vanessa Carlton, etc..." I remembered her name and picked a random phrase from the article. I found it in the tracklist, and it was "White Houses" and it all goes downhill from there.
Too long? Sorry.
-
"White Houses" is my favourite song by her because not only is it the song that helped me discover her, but it's also beautifully written & produced. The strings work so well against the piano & vocals.
Do I think it's her best? Nope. I think "Half A Week Before the Winter" is her best song, lyrically. "Papa" is so intense and dark. I love her vocals on "The Wreckage", too.
'Heroes...' had some great songs, too. "More Than This" is easily the best song on that album and one of her best songs in her career. If that's the sort of stuff she's writing about alone, then she needs to ditch Stephen.
However, I really do want an album like 'Harmonium'. I miss that Vanessa and she hit the nail right on the head; 'BNN' wears a nice dress whereas 'Harmonium' wears a t-shirt & jeans.

No that's awesome!!
I also believe White Houses is her best song. It's incredible that you got to know her, after forgetting her so many times. It was fate ;)
Anyhow thanks for sharing your story!! ;)

Best Behavior, that song is magic.

Best Behavior, that song is magic.
I couldn't explain it more perfectly.
-
I love "Best Behavior"!
But I'm still holding on
Maybe we can still be friends
Meet me there, in that afternoon
The longest day, the 24th of June
And what did I say, I didn't mean to
Push you away
With anybody else, it never feels true
I cannot explain what I've been going through
No matter what I do, it's only you
Ahhhh, I love it!
