Love Tori, "Live From the Choirgirl Motel" is awesome.
Her videos are great as well, I love "Spark"

I don't totally love her version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" though, Kurt Cobain is still turning over in his grave, which he has been doing since Courntey dated Ed Norton.

I absolutely love Tori. "Blood Roses" is really cool, harpsichord. (niiiice)

Gotta love her new album, 'specially "Scarlets Walk" (t.t) and "Amber Waves"

yeah...I'm not a huge fan of Scarlet's walk...but it's great none the less...I think I was just expecting it to be a lot more than what it was.

"Space Dog" from "Under the Pink" has a great bass beat (gotta love it!!). But, in saying that, I'm really feelin' "Father Lucifer" from "Boys For Pele". Little Earthquakes is a rockin' record. Yet, i'm still stuck with my fav, "Scarlet's Walk". I cant believe you were disappointed, i know its a bit different but she's growing as an artist, and if she didnt change we'd be worried.

Thats awesome.  I was slightly peeved cause when I met her, her management said we could only ask for one autograph for every 2 people.  I dont know why they would let us all talk to her and get a picture, but not all get autographs.  Whatever... so my friend Catie, who is a Tori NUT, got the autograph.

*shakes fist* damn management!

I downloaded a non-album track, "Butterfly"
It is wicked...

" Stinky soul get a little lost in my own
Hey General, need a little love in that hole of yours
So one ways now and Saturdays now and our kittens
all wrapped in cement
From cradle to gumdrops got me running girl as fast as I can
And is it right,
Butterfly,
they like you better framed and dried?

Daddy, dear, if I can kill one man why not two?
Well, nurses smile when you've got iron veins you can't stain
their pretty shoes.
And pompoms and cherry blondes
And the kittens still wrapped in cement
From God's saviours to gumdrops
got me running girl as fast as I can
And is it right,
Butterly,
they like you better framed and dried?

Got a pretty pretty garden; pretty garden, yes. "

Hmmmm.... I dont know if I can do a full list off the top of my head... but at a guess I'd say (in no particular order):

Carloines Spine - Sullivan

Pearl Jam - Black

Taking Back Sunday - Cute without the 'E' (cut from the team)

Tori Amos - China

Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees (actually, this song is #1 hands down)

Fiona Apple - Never is a Promise

Eligy for Amy - Pat McGee Band

best Deceptions - Dashboard Confessional

All of My Love - Led Zeppelin (it was recorded and written right after
Roberts son died.  They did it in 1 take)

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton (also written and recorded right after his 3 year old son fell out of a window)

In my first performance studies lesson the other day, as a warm down we had to lie on our backs, close our eyes and listen to 'Silent All These Years'. It hit a nerve, i really was about to burst into tears right there with a bunch of people i had known for an hour. Its such an amazing song.

Is the rest of Little Earthquakes like this? And are any of her other songs? because i just adore that one.

Tori has a new album coming which is due May 1st and it goes by the name of American Dolls Posse. I think I read somewhere that this album would be different so I am intruiged.

However, Not the Red Baron is definitely somewhere in the top 5. I don't know why but I love that song. And it's not because she mentions the Dutch language  8)

I know, she made a LOT of wicked cool songs
Too many to mention ;)

The first time I heard her mentioning Dutch, I rewound (yeah, I think it was still a casette, lmao) and played it again.. and again and again, and again and ...
Too cool

Hey, very off topic and in Dutch:
ken jij de musical Wicked?
En hou je van voetbal?
En ben je man of vrouw?
lol
Ik ben nieuwsgierig
Title: Tori Amos
Post by: Zloska_of_yy on February 28, 2007, 05:36:59 am
English first:

I have tried and tried but I can't figure out what the two guys are saying in that song (anyone else know). I read somewhere they were talking about a new microphone and Tori somehow picked it up and asked what language they were talking in (What language?). They said Dutch and asked whether they should continue in English. Her response: No, Dutch. Then she basically thought up the entire song based on the fact that the voices resembled voices from pilots. Anyone know whether this is true? I think it's so cool that she just made a song out of thin air.

Hoezo?
Nog meer vragen? :)
Title: Tori Amos
Post by: Si on February 28, 2007, 05:47:41 am
This is what I read:
When Tori performed live in Den Haag in March this year I managed to speak to Marcel van Limbeek, who assisted in the recording of the CD. The story is as follows: during the recording of the CD, “Red baron” was one of those one-take tracks. They were actually testing a new mike, as an other one had broken down. Marcel and Rob were talking about technical stuff through walkie-talkies. (Are they called that where you live?) They were just discussing the sound level and the compression or something like that.

Somehow, Tori picked up the talking in her headphones and asked what language they were using. Marcel replied “Dutch”, and asked if they should stop talking. Tori motioned to them to go on, however, and Marcel asked if they should talk in English. Tori answers: “No, Dutch”, which is what you hear on the recording.

So exactly the same as what you said...

Also

Haha
~ Lompe naam? Nou wil ik het weten ook! ;)
~ Jammer.

Lisa Loeb

Hey they've begun playing "Big Wheel" on radio stations around here... and its a kinda "catchy" tune... tooo

Tho the lyrics "I am a M-I-L-F...Dont you forget" is a little scary...

I got the album a couple days ago...haven't listened to it enough to have favorites yet, but I'm really enjoying it.  You should go to her website & read her bio, which explains the concept of the album.  It's very interesting.  She really inspires me to think outside the box!

I'm a casual fan of hers and am curious about the experience..Does she interact well with her audience? What kind of vibe does she have while performing?

Tori is an ammmazing preformer! I don't think she chats much during her shows, nor does she explain what they are about. I read she dosn't like to explain her songs. Anyway, she basically humps her piano and dances while playing. Since it's the American Doll Posse tour she dresses as one of the dolls in the first half and in the second half she is herself (which meant she worse a hot ass purple sequin jump suit)  I LOVE her improv. When I saw her in October she did this song about there being a man in the ladies room and he was on his cellphone saying "I gotta spank that ass!"  She is VERY entertaining to watch, and worth all the money you spend on seeing her.
