I doubt it. They just started filming, so it'll be a few weeks (probably after Carousel is released) before we see the video. Razor & Tie might post some pics in a few days, but I doubt they will today. Unless Nessa takes pics of her own and posts them.

I love Vanessa's music videos! I thought the Nolita Fairytale video was pretty magical, even though you can't really relate to the song itself totally XD
I think I may listen to the sample over and over for awhile. I hope the Play Sample button won't break :P

I think it would be nice to stick with the carousel style and have photos in the booklet instead. The rabbit illustration is kind of a trademark for the album i think:)

We all want another album, and we all know how Heroes & Thieves was already almost her last.

same for me. If i CAN'T buy a song, because the online store doesn't allow me to, and if it is Vanessa, I need to get it by another way. Of course I'll buy the record at least 2-3 times when it comes out and even if it isn't released in my country.

I'm not sure if you have this over there, but here we can buy gift cards that work like credit cards, so you purchase it in cash at a store then you can use it online. Or, if you don't mind using I tunes, you can buy Itunes gift cards also purchased at a store (like Walmart or catch-all store like that) or gas stations sometimes have them as well.

Re: buying singles on iTunes: My experience is even when you buy a single on iTunes if you buy the album it discounts the price of the total album. And please, it's what .99 maybe $1.29? It's V for goodness sake!! It's been YEARS, I am sure it's worth it and well we need to show support for the single/album with sales. I understand you're buying the CD or what not but...

It's not like there aren't official songs uploaded multiple times to YT all the time that stay up for months, and from much bigger artists. It's not that big of a deal.
And btw, I have every intention of buying it. I just don't want to sit here reading OH IT'S BEAUTIFUL AND I LOVE THIS PART AND THIS PART and not be able to hear it for myself because of time zones. I'll be buying it as soon as it's up on US itunes.

And tbh, it's not like very many people outside of this forum know that it's being released anyway and are waiting on the edge of their seat for a download link and never plan on paying for it. People who don't pay for music won't, no matter how long they have to wait for the song, so putting it up here early isn't going to affect anything. By the time, and if it does, get spread around, it will already be available for purchase, so people will have that option.

Just bought and heard the song. Wow. Amazing. Not only did we hear V's first single but we also heard the beginning of her record, that's so magical. Can't wait for more. I'm so in love with the song, well I already was but also with the production, with V's voice. Everything's incredible. for the clap thing, you (I mean people who are able to go, I probably won't, living in Europe and just coming hom from the States yesterday...) should totally do it. Last week I was in NYC at a Kate Voegele show and I don't know if some of you are familiar with her song "Angel" but there's a part in which she sings two parts at the same time and when she obviously can't do that live some 15 years old groupie sung it, it sounded pretty good :)

Yeah, I love the song, too. It's excellent, but I can't help but think what it would've sounded like had it been done with ProTools. The childrens choir is my favorite part, and I thought there should've been a few more claps.

Comparing this to A thousand miles?? No way... I think the only way this song (and album) could be a huge success is if people finally see her as a grown-up artist who sings for a mature audience. The fact that she signed with Razor and Tie is already a good sign :) I want V to have a Norah Jones-like career :) This album is gonna be my favorite thing in the world. Can't wait for summer!! I usually don't but this time it's different :)

There is a free format of mp3 which allow higher bit rate values (such as 640 kbps) but has limited player support. I don't know for iTunes but it might be an AAC audio (m4a). With a similar bit rate, I think that the AAC codec is better than the MP3.

This exactly. Analogue shouldn't be used if it hampers audio quality. And she's always had great audio quality. I know she was going for a more indie approach, but I personally think Heroes and Thieves had a nicer sound. xD;
That being said, Carousel is a fantastic song. I just wish it was recorded a bit better. The children's claps sound tinny. D:

The video that was on Vevo of the song just streaming said that the album would be availible on iTunes May 31st...does that mean to pre-order on May 31st or to buy the whole album? And then the physical release will be June 21st?
That would be pretty smart marketing to release the album digitally on the 31st and then the physical copy on June 21st because that would drive hardcore fans to purchase the album twice..both in a digital and physical copy...which I don't mind doing these days because typically CD's are less then 8 bucks the first week of release...especially indie releases.

2) replace the video with just a picture for the actual music video.
3) the song is already on Vanessacarlton.com through soundcloud, perhaps they think doing it this way is better than youtube...or that it should be the only way.

yes, but I think they think that by having only on soundcloud (private upload) through vanessacarlton.com (because you need the specific URL to find the song on soundcloud)
and by having people "share" the song before they can listen or whatever, that it will be spread better this way because people will be sharing it.
...I donno. It'll be back on youtube sooner or later when the music video is released anyway.

While I can understand that, from a personal point of view I have discovered so many new artists and music through youtube, it is a great advertising tool for artists to create awareness, if I like a song I have not heard before, I will always go and buy it.

I agree! I have been listening to it quite a few times the last few days. Good thing that no one really is upstairs but me XD I'd probably get annoyed looks for repeating it. I can't help it, if I love a song I put it on repeat XD;

Carousel on soundcloud is no longer a private track.
you can listen by going to http://soundcloud.com/vanessacarlton
and this also means that posting the song to facebook (for example) will actually let people be able to hear the song if they click that play button..
whereas before if you did that, the song would not play unless they actually went to the link.

I finally managed to listen to the track (been kinda internet strapped for the past week or so!)
