So me an my friend were talking about the "hey" in Dear California and Nolita Fairytale and I said the one in California but she said Nolita so, I wanted your opinions! ;D
-
In Nolita "Hey" works very well... but I prefer the "huuuuum" like in Fairweather Friend, London, The Wreckage... ;)
-
I like both, but I chose Nolita. It's fun. :P
-
I voted Nolita, just cus she just that cute little bright smile in the video lol
-
but that soft little "hey." in Dear California is so infectious! She's adorable either way...
-
IDK.... Dear Cali is so sweet, and it's like.... haha... THis is hard to explain... :)

I LOVE that this thread exists. I guess I'm not the only one who immediately thought of Nolita Fairytale when I heard it in Dear California!
I really like both, I think they were created to fit the song perfectly. Nolita Fairytale is very lively and strong, so the loud "HEY!" and the echo works great, whereas Dear California is much more mellow, so the soft "hey" that soon gets overtaken by the guitar is perfect.

I feel like DC is more natural to the song, whereas the one for NF was made to stand out. They are good for different reasons but I prefer the naturally kind of breathless one in DC
-
I prefer the Dear California "hey" but like TRINIST said, she is too cute on that part of Nolita's video
-
I prefer that quiet "hey" in Dear California, but I agree that the "HEY!" for Nolita Fairytale was good for that song's effect.
To each his own . . . or rather, to each VC song its own "Hey." :)
-
I never thought about the 'hey!' in Dear California before. I like both, but maybe I prefer the one in Nolita, because it has so much energy to it.

I voted Nolita's "Hey", and I'm with you. Those 'hmmm's are magic. Maybe someone should make a 'hmmm' thread. :D

Both "hey"s have different vibes, and both are well-suited in each song. I picked the Nolita "hey", just cause it's got that bounce to it.. then again, I'm in a cheery mood right now. :D Your preference could depend on your mood.
