I was at work the other day - I work on Capitol Hill - and when I went to the supply store to get a few things for a project I'm working on, all of a sudden Big Yellow Taxi started playing. Not until the "mmmm, bop bop bop" did I even remember Vanessa was IN that song, and it made me so happy to hear her at work!
Where have you all randomly heard Vanessa when you weren't expecting it?

I was grocery shopping at a place called Morrisons in England. I heard ordinary day come on the radio. I am not even going to admit to what i did, but the woman who was putting food on the shelves thought I was insane! lol. Good times
I was in a piano showroom a couple weeks ago and a boy of about 14 came in and sat down on one of the pianos and played the riff to a thousand miles. It made me smile!

Carousel Starbucks when it first came out haha at first I didn't realize it, but I found myself singing with the lyrics and then I eventually noticed it was her cause I haven't heard the studio version of it then
there were other songs played at other stores but I can't remember what they played
or where :D

The dining hall at my school has a mix cd they play all the time, and Ordinary Day is on it - so I've heard that song like ten times that way, haha.
I also saw the Nolita Fairytale video playing on the tv screens at an FYE once soon after H&T came out, that was really cool.

Just the other day I heard ATM in the pet store. It was very comforting and it was the first time I smiled that very emotional day. She always has a way of coming to me when I need it most.

I hear Ordinary Day and A Thousand Miles at Kohl's a lot. Also, almost every time I go to O'Charley's I hear Nolita Fairytale. I always have to point it out to whoever I'm with, haha.
We also have a local restaurant called Buckhead where I hear Pretty Baby and Hands on Me sometimes.

Probably when I was at my dining hall in college. What happened was,.. I was making a little tribute video for Vanessa's Birthday (you can see it through the separate thread) earlier this week, and I guess people on my dorm floor heard me playing her music, etc.
When I was sitting at a table next to some floormates that I don't talk to, they were whispering and staring at me. The only words I could make out were "Vanessa Carlton". Hahaha. I was laughing on the inside.

This isn't so much a place but more of a place of thought I guess. [I do this when I want to have a theatrical dream] I play some her music on repeat while i sleep and somehow I have my own little phantom films. 'Tis a little odd but sometimes i make dreams out of my memories and her music. Kinda amazing. :)

I was in a photo class and we had to use Adobe Illistrater to make people look hand-drawn. I was using a picture of Vanessa. I left my computer while I was working on it and I heard a girl say "Hey! I know her, she's famous! She's uh Vanessa something!" In my head I was like "YESSS!"

I was watching TV a few hours ago and they passed a cereals commercial with 'A thousand miles' on the background! It's only a few seconds of piano but I recognised it quickly.

On friday, I was walking in a mall with my friends and I heard "Do you think time," And I jumped and shouted "Ohmygod the song!!! It's Vanessa!" My friends thought I was crazy, but the little freak-out was worth it. The best part was, if I didn't go back to a store and buy a bracelet I wanted, I wouldn't have heard ATM. So now the bracelet reminds me of that moment.

I work as a housekeeper at a casino. I was at break and I was talking to friends about relationships and about stuff. Then all of a sudden you hear "a thousand miles" start to play on the radio! I seriously had to get up and start singing in front of everyone and my friends sang with me as well. Truly was. Magical moment <3

I work at a retail drug store and the adult contemporary mix they play over the speakers has played ATM for years, which I've always loved because every so often they change up the mix of songs they play but ATM always made it in there. A few months ago, they switched to playing Ordinary Day instead. Then a couple of weeks ago, I heard Pretty Baby play which I thought was strange because as far as I know it wasnt a popular single like the other two were and all of the older songs that get played are the familiar classics and such. I guess it's more popular than I thought, but then the other day SAN FRANCISCO came on. I was stoked but I'm so confused at the choice! Was it a single and just didnt have a video?

This isn't exactly 'hearing' Vanessa, but I wanted to share and think it makes sense to put it here:
On another forum I'm on, there's a game where the host posts clues, and you guess which celebrity the host is describing. If you guess correctly, you get to choose the next celebrity. So I won and chose Vanessa. The clues the host chose were:
-Is a singer.
-Had a wedding officiated by Stevie Nicks.
-Is prepared to travel a very long distance.
I thought those clues were very interesting and clever! Someone guessed within a minute of it being posted ;)
