That.. male vocalist sort of ruined it for me (he overpowered the kids). And the mic on the kids was a little quiet. Overall, that was a super magical and stunning performance. Vanessa was soooo great!

WIN! SO MUCH WIN! omg that was epic. She was smiling a lot, it's clear she was having a good time and knew how awesome that was.
There was a girl's choir - I think there were 8-10 of them? - and she started in the middle of them, she was singing while they were clapping and doing "oooh"s, then went to the piano for the second verse. Ari was there on guitar, and there was also a drummer and some other guy (I think he was playing a keyboard?)
It was so great! She sounded really good and looked SO pretty.

Yeah, but his voice was over everyone else's. I thought the performance was okay. Nessa seemed nervous, but she was good when she got to the piano. My complaints are Ari and the girls' microphones not being loud enough. I hope the iTunes number for Bride goes up.

Yeah I definitely would've preferred it without Ari, just to hear the girls better. But if you looked at some of the girls individually, like some of them clearly weren't singing at the right time (especially the younger ones, like one of them blatantly forgot to come in at one point) so maybe they kept their mics low in case somebody messed up or something haha

It was great to see/hear that song on TV. I really hope they didn't fly those girls from London like I read. I am sure any choir could handle it but it would be better with some who were more confident. I'm sure they were nervous.
It was was nice, Vanessa looked lovely but I really wanted to get that clump of strays that were sticking out. ;)

I had a wide smile while watching the performance ;D But i have to be honest, it doesnt seem like the choir practiced that much before the show, the claps were kinda weird, and there were some girls that didnt even knew the lyrcis (i know, i bet they were nervous but still), too bad the sound didnt help at all either :(
Could have been better, bu I loved it anyway, hope she gets to do more performances with a choir ^^

I posted the comments so people could see what people are saying. If I upset someone, I didn't mean to. And all the comments weren't mean. Stevie Nicks' fans didn't like the Stevie/Nessa Carousel performance. Big deal. ::) And why on earth would we have to defend her from anything? These people don't like Nessa and they're entitled to that opinion. :-\

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! I was excited to know she was playing Bride, but I too am hoping that wasn't the original choir because yeah, they were not great. some were really off pitch and off rhythm. They were nervous and so was Vanessa and it showed. I fell realllllllly bad about not enjoying it but I didn't. Maybe my expectations were too high? I think she will do much better on the tour rather than TV setting (as I would if I were a singer, tv is intimidating.) I just think the whole thing needs perfecting, it was good, but to me it wasn't a jaw dropper. I can totally see why someone just tuning in, who hasn't followed her career would not enjoy that and have the comments that some people had on twitter. I don't agree with them by any means, but I can see why they would not be into it as we are. The sound was not great like others have said, things were off balance and I think they left the microphone she used in the choir on because you could hear some girls louder than others.
On a positive note, I love that there was a choir at all, I loved the clapping and the percussion. I loved that she was standing in the choir and in black no less, while all the innocent little girls wore white. I love that she was waring pants, very different than I've seen her the past couple months.
I love the build up for the bridge and I just plain love Vanessa! I hope that they keep on working at it for the tour! She looked tan and healthy and I loved that SHE loved what she was doing and it showed.

I'm just grateful for her that she was given this opportunity to perform. The performance probably wasn't the best it could have been, but I still thought it was lovely. And no, comparing those girls to those in the "The Four Elements of Rabbits on the Run" video, I don't think that was the original choir.

Like, obviously I know you're a Vanessa fan (more than I am haha), but I'm just really confused as to why you would show us all the negative comments.
I actually really liked this performance - and trust me, there are PLENTY of Vanessa performances I've disliked (including, quite literally, every single performance of Carousel, a song I usually like better than Bride). But this performance I thought was brilliant - it was in a lower register, which was good for her voice because she does not have a good head voice at all. The girls were adorable, even if some of them weren't 100% on the notes (and that's clearly why their mics were turned way down - they were there for show, not for talent). The drums were spot on as well, which brought life to the second verse just like in the studio version. Vanessa was smiling quite frequently, so she must have really been enjoying it too. All in all, it was just a fun and enjoyable performance. Definitely better than Carousel on Leno!

And, once the nervousness settled, the choir girls, the band, and V herself were really enjoying themselves. Grinning from ear to ear. Very happy for them.

I didn't consciously pick the bad tweets. I only picked the ones that showed up at the top under the "Top Tweets," which were mostly talking about ATM. I only picked the ones that talked about IDWTBAB and Conan. Obviously there were people who enjoyed the performance, but it just so happens their (and yours, I guess) tweets weren't at the top. Next time I'll post a mix of tweets (or maybe none at all). :-\

What's the deal? We posted negative reviews of the album here before for example, it can't all be positive news and opinions just because it's a fan forum...

After watching it a few times, the performance isn't as bad as I first thought. I think Lord Victor definitely needed to chew threw Ari's mic cable and Vanessa needs to work on her nerves because she missed her que. The choir girls were nice, but looked like they were thrown together last minute.
Vanessa sounded good & looked great.
Overall, I think with more practice performances set out like this could be really excellent.

Eh...... the performance was good. Not her best. I could have done without the children's choir. They just didn't sound good to me. Believe me, I get nerves. but for a TV performance, I would have found a choir that was comfortable. But when the choir wasn't singing too much, the performance was great! And ya.... she does have to deal with nerves..... we did notice the late qeue (damn, how do u spell that? :P). haha. But I do give her a break..... it's been four years since she was in front of a camera..... so ya.
And lol.... I couldn't see her until the lights came on. haha. I saw a vacant piano, and was like, where is she?! Then, I found her... lol..... :) I liked that, though. It's the first time I've ever seen her not on the piano. But it was good...... :)

Firstly either she is really TANNED or those English girls are ghostly pale.
And they bob too much. It was kinda weird. You know...The bobbing.
But I really dont care. It was Vanessa. And it was frackin' BRIDE. And it had a choir and Vanessa was all sweaty (and kinda excited don't you think?) When she ran from the choir to the piano... And then when the kings bit started she put her hands in the air like she at gun point... And then she smiled like a bunny in the end. So. damn. cute.
Oh and Ari looked so SEXY in this performance. Why are they not dating? (Because they wrote a song about Vanessa not wanting to be a bride) Kinda attracted to this guy in a weird-You so hot you play with V- kinda way ;)

The performance was okay. I didn't really dig the drums and the girls' choir that much for all the reasons mentioned in the previous posts. I also felt Ari's mic was too loud compared to Vanessa's. I guess I just like acoustic V better! ;D
BUT it was very nice to see her on a big late night show and she looked happy! I loved the fact that she smiled quite a lot :D

I think that if those girls were the real deal, we should also consider their number. There's a huge difference of them relative to their number during the actual recording.
And I get this feeling that Ari's vocals were meant to sound that loud during the bridge.

I seriously don't see what the big issue is. I'm interested in hearing what other people are saying about Vanessa, positive or negative. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Craft wasn't insulting Vanessa, he just pasted a couple of comments that other people had made about her. Yeah, I obviously don't like what some of them are saying either, but I'm not shutting my eyes and pretending they aren't being said. If you don't like it, don't read it.
Completely agree with Saba. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And it's pretty fascinating to see what fans and (non-fans?) have to say.

They just looked a little different from the "four elements" video. : ) But, they were decent. Performing live for millions, I would've been scared for life. You could tell they were extremely nervous before the chorus came around.

I didn't not believe you, why would you make it up? It's just they weren't really good. I feel like if they are on the album it should have been solid. Yes, nerves or what not but I'm guessing they've done concerts in front of larger crowds, maybe not with cameras but it seems it was a big waste of money to bring them. From what I saw/heard any choir could have done the same job. I feel like that $$ (not that I know where it came from ) could have been spent on something else or some other type of promotion.
I like the idea of using local choirs for the tour. Gwen did it with a drum line.

Have to say that their youtube videos are amazing, I've watched the lilly allen one planty of times and enjoyed it a lot each time, and i dont even listen to lilly allen really lol. (still the kids on the show weren't really that much prepared imo :-\ lol, debby downer. )

I like the idea of local choirs, however, if the choir that sang on the album wasn't perfect...it's hard to imagine that others would be any better. Plus for some shows there are only a day or less between performances. they'd have to star looking and training now.

I decided to watch this performance several times today. And after each time, I grew to like it even more. I love it now. It was such a simple performance that, perhaps, most of us pressed too great of expectations on. Not all of the details were perfect, but that's fine with me. No performance is perfect anyway. And those smiles! I loved all of the grinning that showed half way through the performance. You can tell how meaningful this song (and the whole record) is to her, and how proud she is. May thousands of IDWTBAB performances come her way :)

Hahahah Victor does! When i met V at the Santa Rosa concert. Vanessa opened the door to her dressing room (i was backstage) and Victor came out and then rolled over on my feet and looked at me with a face that said "Pet me!" He is a dachshund and i have a dachshund too and they are attention fiends.

Victor loves people :) haha when i saw him at the Largo show he was soo adorable and will let anyone pet him like he's the chillest dog ever. I even got to witness him poop which is incredibly awkward but yeah pretty big honor being in the presence of lord victor going poop :)

every dachshund I've ever met (which I have not met Lord Victor) has been mean! My sister's in laws had one that was miserable. He passed away and they have 2 new ones now. The one is mean and won't let you go near the other one who I think is nicer. My mom will tell you that she was attacked by one when she was little. It jumped up and bit her in the belly (she was probably 5 or so, so it didn't have to jump far). We had a neighbor when I was around 5, who had one and it was not pleasant either. Just my experiences. (also totally off topic)

okay. watched it again. It's not as bad as I thought -- I think it was just my high expectations.
As for the girls dancing - someone said they didn't like it but at least they were trying to look like they were enjoying themselves. Some of the younger girls barely smiled! (until the end)

speaking for myself, I just had higher expectations and I think the nerves got the best of her and the choir in the beginning. Also, once she got to the piano she seemed more comfortable and that's where the smiles began. I don't usually complain about anything Vanessa related.

I liked it but I really really liked it once she got on the piano. I think that's when everything flowed better. I totally didn't notice Ari over taking Vanessa's voice..... I think it was overall a great performance! :D
