Title: Rank V's Albums?
Post by: fizzybubblespop on September 20, 2011, 04:45:50 pm
If there's already a thread like this (I couldn't find one) feel free to delete this topic. :D

I felt like before ROTR, Harmonium was the general fan-favorite. How do you guys rank the albums now (favorite to least favorite)?

My ranking:
1. Rabbits on the Run
2. Harmonium
3. Be Not Nobody
4. Heroes and Thieves

Of course, I really love them all.  :D

I was thinking about this the other day too. For me, I think it's:

1. Harmonium
2. Rabbits on the Run (even though I love it so much, but there's just something about Harmonium that beats it out)
3. Be Not Nobody and Heroes & Thieves (they tie because it keeps switching back and forth for me. I've been recently rediscovering some songs on BNN, which makes it kind of "new" for me, but I love Heroes & Thieves too)

Of course, I really love them all.  :D

I know, it's like choosing your favorite child!

Why do I make myself do this?!!?  :P

1. Rabbits on the Run
2. Harmonium and Heroes & Theives (I can't choose between these. I like Harmonium a little bit more, but I can't put one above the other.)
3. Be Not Nobody (I have been rediscovering some of these songs too. At this very moment I am obsessed with "Wanted.")

This is so hard for me!  Because I don't really listen to Heroes & Thieves that much anymore, but at the time I was OBSESSED with it.  So it's kind of skewed towards what I like right now and it's hard to truly weigh all of the albums without listening to every single song in a row, which would take like three hours haha. (Best three hours ever.)

1. Rabbits on the Run (It's just a work of art)
2. Harmonium (I listen to this CONSTANTLY these days for some reason, which is why it's above H&T)
3. Heroes & Thieves (again, I was obsessed at the time, but I don't listen to it anymore so it's down here)
4. Be Not Nobody (I actually really don't like this album that much, so this one's easy lol)

I don't know why I felt the need to explain myself to all of you hahaha.

1. Heroes and Thieves - i feel like i could connect this album more and had more meaning to me.
2. Rabbits on the Run - has a new sound, i see rabbits on the run as a branch off from heroes and thieves
3. Harmonium - i thought it was kind of dark for me, but it did beat BNN
4. Be Not Nobody - i remember when i first bought this CD i could not stop listening to it....but looking back on it i guess it was a bit mature for me? idk i didn't really like unsung and paint it black :X

I don't know why I felt the need to explain myself to all of you hahaha.

Well, it's always nice to read anyone's reasoning.. so it gives us all something to compare our thoughts to.  :)

Here's my ranking (which will always be tentative):

[1] Heroes & Thieves (the string arrangements are particularly admiring to me, slightly more than on 'Harmonium'.. and I adore the storybook structure)
[2] Harmonium (the piano + strings are so brilliant. And there's that edgier, dark sound that spikes my blood.)
[3] Rabbits on the Run (brilliant, mastermind lyrics. Yet I don't feel that same passion as I do in the prior two, perhaps b/c of the "dreamy" atmosphere that drove this record.)
[4] Be Not Nobody (her debut album definitely shows diversity. But, it's been almost a decade and I still don't have the desire to learn how to play piano in each song as I do for the other albums.)

But at the end of the day, we're all going to agree that each of her albums is fabulous in its own way, making them all equally magnificent.

This is just like choosing a favorite song -- Impossible!!  It all just depends on what mood I'm in or what I'm feeling like.  Also, I usually go weeks at a time listening to the same album over and over, then move on from it so at any given time one or the other is my number one.

Be Not Nobody just...can't even compare to her other albums. It's just...not even comparable.

Good topic maybe it should have been a poll?
