I only watched the one video and i really like her voice.
I did see her performance on SNL though, a lot of people thought it was a disaster (though at least she was actually singing)

Yeah, it was pretty awful but I've seen her perform both of those songs much better so I'm not worried.
She's an interesting character.

Yeah, SNL=no bueno. But I've seen many other live performances and she does awesome. I'm going to see her Feb. 9th and I'm so freaking pumped! Have you looked up Born to Die or Video Games? Blue Jeans? All very good songs.

It might just be me, but I really can't stand her. I mean, judging from her performances she seems like a wonderful person but her voice sets me on edge.

Her voice, the beats, and the strings!! have me hooked. Initially, I couldn't understand the "self-ganster styled Nancy Sinatra" description on her Wiki page, but now I hear it.
Here are my favs so far:
- Born To Die (look up an instrumental/karaoke version, and you'll love it more)
- National Anthem
- Dark Paradise
- Radio
- Summertime Sadness
- Without You
But really, the record is fabulous. I can see a lot of the songs on TV shows and in movie soundtracks.

My hubby just bought me the cd on Saturday, I've only listened to the first song and half of the second... so far..okay. I'm not completely sold on the beats but I just have to give it more of a chance I'm sure! I love her voice though!

Just saw her perform and met here a couple of nights ago. She was pretty much flawless. And one of the nicest and coolest people I've met. She wrote, "Let's go get high sometime…" on my cd. What. Amazing.

I didn't get to take any videos because she was completely obstructed from my view point. And they also didn't allow pictures when we met her which is so stupid. My friend ran into her after the show at a restaurant and got to chat with her. She's just the coolest girl you've ever met.

I've listened to the album all the way through a few times now. I am in LOVE with her voice. I love how it's different from most people out there. I was surprised by all the ...beats/bass but it really works. My favorites are Dark Paradise and Radio. I didn't realize there was a deluxe version until just now :( boo I don't have those three songs!

i'm sooooo into her. listened to her album a few days ago. "national anthem" is definitely a favourite. it's so fucking awesome. seriously, i'm in love with this song. radio is also getting me.
i love how her low voice is waaaaaay different from her high voice.

I also think she's a fantastic songwriter. She can do no wrong in my eyes.

I don't know about the writing. Some of it seems repetitive and simple but who am I? I don't write songs. I also think the profanity is unnecessary, then again it adds to her charm/persona. I really do like her, don't get me wrong. but I wouldn't say the writing is stellar or anything near what vanessa does and how thoughtful vanessa is with her lyric choice.

But for what she does as a pop artist, I think she's fabulous.
"Video Games", although full of cliches, is a fantastically well written pop song. It's actually one of my favourite of all time. She just captures the true essence of love perfectly with that song (for me).

it was months ago, and I think it was just someone's blog, so the information could not be reliable (I hope it's not!)

She said early on that she couldn't see herself writing a second record because "everything I wanted to say, I said with this album". She also said recently in her Vogue interview she hopes to leave the music industry for film. :( Hope she changes her mind.
She's releasing a "paradise edition" of 'Born to Die' in November though and recording her version of "Blue Velvet" to coincide with her H&M campaign. Woohoo. :D

'Born to Die: The Paradise Edition' includes 9 new tracks (including new single "Ride") on top of the 15 that came earlier this year. You can either buy the double album or you can buy 'Paradise' on its own. :)
I realllllly want the boxset, but at the very least I'll be buying the double CD. Can't wait to see her live either! :D

actually since november 8th. i can't stop listening to it! body electric gives me the chills, though i miss the strings arrengement she uses in live perfomaces.
