Just got out of the Phoenix show and Vanessa announced that as of five o'clock today she is married!

wow, so much for next month! I wonder if they stopped off at the ranch she loves so much to get married there. I don't think it's too far from pheonix.

Oh yeah, Vanessa McCauley doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Carlton. I reckon they'll honeymoon in that Mankas Lodge that she tweeted a few days ago

Oh. Guess we all jumped the gun on the congratulations then ;D I suppose we can't help it, we're just so happy for the engaged, but not yet married couple. At least we get to do this all again next month, when she really gets married

She said they signed a marriage certificate. Its pretty true.

signing the certificate and having a ceremony are two different things. you have to have it signed between 3 and 30 days for a marriage to be legal.

I see, so it was sort of the equivalent 'giving notice of marriage' - although I'm guessing the details differ from the UK. Anyway, it's the first step for John and Vanessa, and maybe they are getting married (ceremony at least) at that gorgeous lodge that Vanessa mentioned

I swear I thought I saw her reply to Team Vanessa Carlton's tweet saying "Nope" meaning that she isn't Mrs. Vanessa Carlton. I don't know if she is married but that would be pretty awesome if she was! I'm still calling her Vanessa Carlton though if she did tie the knot.

NO. it gives them the ability to GET married. Depending on state laws (NY is 30 days) they have a certain amount of days to get married or they would have to get a new certificate. It's one of the last steps a couple has to take before marriage. Then the judge or clergy person has to sign the marriage license for them to be legally married. she is NOT married.

That's absolutely right. The first step to getting married is going to the county and getting a license. The license then must be signed by a judge/clergy person/random chick who got ordained on the internet (that's me!) AND witnesses (it's two in Bexar County where I live). Finally, the signed license must be returned to the county for the marraige to be valid.

It was confirmed at tonight's show that she IS NOT married just yet. She mentioned she was getting married officially next month.

ha! I just posted this to tweets. nice pic, they look sweet. wedding soon i'm sure. I hope we get at least ONE pic of their special day
