It sounds amazing, I love it already! Wow, I can't wait to hear the whole thing. That's Vanessa singing the harmony, right?
-
I love their friendship

Interesting...I don't know whether I should like it or not. It kind of bothers me that the article calls it a "new song" when it's actually a cover. I'm sure V is getting all the cred she deserves, but the author chose a weird title for their article. It sounds good. Can't wait to hear the whole thing. :)

Heard this in full today. Vanessa is indeed singing with Stevie and she sounds amazing! I think she even uses her vibrato...which I've never heard her do before.
It's a nice cover. Check it out.
Stevie also dedicates it to her mum who passed away. She said in the final days, it was her mum's favourite song.

i'm hearing it right now. are you sure it's vanessa? i really can't tell. it doesn't sound a lot like her to me. i don't know who else it could be though.
edit: i don't think it's vanessa, because i'm listening to "blue water" right now and it has the same voice as backing vocals.
and vanessa is not credited as backing vocals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24_Karat_Gold:_Songs_from_the_Vault
i know it's just wikipedia, but still...

Yes, she's mentioned in the credits along with another relative of Stevie's (I forget who).
Those are the credits for the rest of the album. "Carousel" has its own little section along with a small piece about how it's dedicated to Stevie's mum & why it was so important for them all to sing it.

"Special Dedication -
"Carousel" was written by Vanessa Carlton, recorded by Vanessa, myself and my niece Jessi Nicks. This song became my mother's favourite song in her final days. It is sung for her by her daughter, with her granddaughter and her friend Vanessa. We know she hears us - we dedicate this album to her - with love - from your girls"

I really like this version ♥
I was quiet sceptical first but after listening to it a few times it totally grows on me.

A short video where Stevie talks about her mom's death and Vanessa. Seriously heartbreaking but sweet.

WOW. So sad but such a beautiful story, and says a lot about Vanessa as a person that she was there. Thank you so much for sharing!
-
Yes, really emotionnal but sweet. It really does say a lot about how amazing and gentle Vanessa is. I'm glad they have each other. This is just one story about them we now know but there were surely a lot more. Stevie probably was there too for Vanessa a lot when she had label and health struggles.
-
so sad, but its a beautiful story though. i saw the scene in my head like a movie. they should make one of those biographic films about stevie and put this scene on it. you know, those movies that always touch your soul the right way. they're the best hahah. like grey gardens (the one with drew barrymore), factory girl, lovelace and stuff like that.

Am I the only who thinks Stevie Nicks is gonna be Vanessa's baby's godmother? :)
