Before I went on the board... I'll always blast ATM when it was on the radio til my roommates wanted to kill me. After a while they started calling VC my girlfriend. lol

I can't say VC around here because it stands for Vanilla Coke in our weird lingo in Wilber Hall, don't ask me why, lol.

but seriously, I call her nessa. You guys got me in the habit of that.....I had no idea that was a short form of vanessa before I came to the o-board. Most vanessas I knew when growing up were very big girls(literally) who at any minute could run up to you and squish your brains out with a passionate hug or something like that. But I have a few years on nessa so.......nessas have sure changed since then ;)

I've always just had a thing against shortening someone's given name, even if that's how their closest friends call them unless I'm around the person seven hours a day, five days a week, and then I start to shorten anything. My own fiancée I'll even call by her three-syllable name instead of just by the first one as her brother and friends call her. She has too beautiful a name to shorten, IMHO (Both my fiancée and Vanessa).

As for her music, I call that Nessahol! :wink:

That's much better than "Vanayuhssa," just so you know. BUT not that I pronounce it like that, (which I promise I don't). I would just imagine some people with, um, rural (rrrrrrrl) "cool" (or Southwestern)accents would say it like that.

And being that I have nothing CLOSE to an accent (especially a Southern one) . . . Right.
