Slow like ivy crawling up the old gate
You hold your breath and wait
Twining yourself 'round the place you call home
All hope has left
Your heart bereft

Because when dreams fade like daytime
And hope floats away like the clouds
Everyone tells you you'll be fine
Still you stand screaming to the deaf crowd
The ivy who tried to be a grapevine
Too quiet in a big world so loud

Fright'ning like an angry storm overhead
You close your eyes and pray
Destructive power not sure where to go
The world cries
Fearing your ivy no longer survives

Because when dreams fade like daytime
And hope floats away like the clouds
Everyone tells you you'll be fine
Still you stand screaming to the deaf crowd
The ivy who tried to be a grapevine
