the only reason I am charging - Is because I work fulltime as a graphic designer and while I love making stuff for peeps for free --- i have lost the extra time to make them - so if it is for business (even very cheap compared to what i would normally charge a client) - i can make the time --- i will from time to time offer to make them free --- but donations always are excepted (for past sigs or future ones --- however much you would like to donate is fine) my paypal email is stephlava2@aol.com - but no one should ever feel obligated to donate ... thats why its called donating...

Stephie, I hope you realize how many laws you are breaking right now. You cannot use trademarked or intellectual properties in your designs. Nessaholics and Walmart, amongst others, are both protected names. You cannot sell items with these names on them. EVEN IF proceeds go to charity.
I cannot make copies of BNN and sell them for charity.
It is the exact same thing. You must obtain the written permission of the person or persons who own the intellectual property.
Not the be a spoil sport, but you really need to do your research before you start trying to sell stuff like this. Consult a lawyer.

I just dont have all the free time others do - and with starting my business i need extra cash - so like i said the prices are not set it stone (and my goodness it's only like $2 a sig....) it is more of a voluntary donation ---

I make them up - and i bought the flower lamp at target a few years ago - never heard of a recall on it - but it gets extremely hot i think you should use a very very very low wattage bulb on it.... otherwise its cute and i didnt make it - its in my garage sale part of my site!

when i make a sig you supply the graphics or photos - i do not - as far as all the alex bach ones --- i was employed by alex's management to make the graphics i made for them - as for the vanessa ones on my site - i did not charge people for those - in the future if you want a sig made you need to supply the images you would like ...you are paying me for my time and not the actual images.... legally you are responsible for what you supply me with...

That's the right idea steph, but legally it doesn't hold up.
Why do you think Kinko's refuses to make copies of copyrighted material?
If you use the copyrighted images to make something for someone you are responsible for taking 'reasonable action' to ensure that they have the rights to those images. Even if that is just asking that person 'do you have the rights to this'.
Yes, that's nitpicky, but that is how the law works. You have to remove your own liability by asking the person. Then it is his or her problem if he or she lies to you.
So if someone submits a picture to you to make a sig or t-shirt out of and you KNOW he or she did not take that picture, protect yourself by asking.

I would go by the price of your thread, about how much of your thread you use per scarf, and the labor you put in to it.
I sell some of my tatting at the antique shows my mom sets up at. Usually the little medalians i do go for a dollar fifty each because: they're small, it doesn't take much thread, and the thread i buy is about 2.00 a roll. But the doilies i make range from 5$ to 15$ depending on the size, how much time it takes, and how much thread i use.
So if your scarf is six feet long, the price is going to go up. I'd say about 10$, 12$ sounds fair, since they're so long. That's still a lower price than most stores for an even shorter length. Usually crafts are so expensive, it's a good idea to keep them as low as possible, that way people will be more likely to buy!

15$ is a good price! That's about the average price for a scarf, and if they're good quality then you'll probably sell in bulk, which is basically, through my experience, is the best way to sell. But remember that you have to spend money to make money!

i dont know if i could do bulk orders of this stuff - the scarfs are just way to time consuming ---- they are great just i would rather sell ech scarf as either as few in stock to choose from or made to order ----

Made to order is a good idea. That way the consumer gets a greater choice of what they want. You might even want to keep the already made ones at 15$ and charge 18$ for made to order ones , since they aren't already made. Usually that doesn't make much of a difference to the consumer, just as long as they get what they want!
lol i forgot that you make the scarfs. I sell wades at my mom's antique shows, and i price them really really low so a lot of people will buy in bulk :-P buuut i think made to order is the perfect option for you! in fact my neighbor is having me make tat a doily for her, and she even offered to pay me commission since it wasn't already made! which is cool when you're 17 and the most you can make in an hour is 5.25 minimum wage :razz:

Really?! that would be awesome! I could see that happening over the summer after i graduate (June 26th - no more highschool - can we say freeeeedom?!). I'll have to talk to my mom and such, she's not the kind of person to give all of her details out to someone she doesn't know :-P Buuut i think i can convince her. I'll let you know towards summertime!
I really like making friendship bracelets, i sell those as well, they sell pretty well. 50 cents a bracelet, i don't think that's too shabby. I can get the skeins from AC Moore for i think 18 cents each, and i usually use three colors. They sell big with the kids that come to the antique shows. Maybe i'll try some of my doilies and medalians, they didn't sell a lot like i had hoped over the summer at the shows, but they might on the internet, it's worth a shot!

you could just send me the item and i can take some good pics and stuff and i will say it is made by you - when the item sells i will send you the money minus a small comisson (like $1 an item) for my time and web space. easy peasy - not much info to give out... :wink: there also a bunch of other sites that do this (my fave is http://www.plainmabel.com)
so you can always feel free to go to one of the bigger outlets like them - i have no prob with that and wont feel bad about it --- also ebay!

this is a messed up martini--- i wanted to practice and found a pair of undies i disliked that were very plain in the bottom of my drawer --- it started out a a plain martini with an olive and then i made it a cosmo forgeting everything i knew about bartending temporarily - then noticed it was a cosmo with an olive....
i liked the undies so much i decided i wanted to keep doing more and here is the next shirt i did ... this is my fave thing thus far

Stephy I got my parcel today!! Thank you somuch!! I looked at the parcel thinking omg this could be it, and it was but lots of little parcels too! That was just soo sweet of you to give me all those other things! I was so happy! I'm wearing the flower thing in my hair, and am wearing my bracelet with vc pride :D, the CD is so cool too, and all the leaflets and such, that was so kind of you! You are the sweetest ever, and you made my day because I haven't been too good this week and you made me smile!!! So a massive thank you again for doing that for me!

well - to be quite honest - i started it myself - there is no reason you cant start a craft group with your friends near your house.....
you just find a project online - print out the directions - buy the supplies and ask everyone to come over and figure out how to do them together
the only difference would be - i started mine by posting on crafting message boards online and i only knew like 2 people ahead of time - also we meet in coffee shops - but you can meet at home - its easy and fun - you should definately do it!!!
