Yeah, people like me - We don't have accents (look at the triangle, look at the triangle); however, people like CHRISTINE have accents soooo much . . . You can't believe it.
-
everyone has an accent... it's just the way you speak. Even though you may think you have no accent cause how you speak is normal to you, someone else who speaks another way thinks you have an accent cause they're not used to the way you speak.

a sure dae! :D

DUH!
Like Phoebe would say: "do dogs' lips move when they read?"
And for those who didn't understand, I do. I wish I didn't though. Eh, whatcha gonna do?

I don't have one, no. Nor does Cece ;)

See?! Joey knows what I'm talking about. And Holly, EVERYONE who wants to cover up the fact that they have an accent says exactly what you said. Ask Andrew! Neutral. None, up in here. It was in the paper, so next time you get a call from someone with the area code being 502, it may not be me. It's rather a telemarketer with neutral accent in Louisville.

Tia! I am disgraced that as your self proclaimed status as a 'mini mod' you have not seen the discussion that me, Bee and Emily had in some other random thread about this exact same topic.

And Manda, this thread has been made before. And yes, EVERYONE has an accent. Its a fact.

no offense, this brings back bad memories for me...haha. I had to do a report on Robert Burns and do you know how hard it is for someone who is used to american english to read and understand scottish dialect! I was able to get it... but it just took longer, haha.
"Wee , sleekit, cowrin, timorous beastie, O, what a panic’s in thy breastie! Thou need na start awa sae hasty, Wi’ bickering brattle! I wad be laith to rin an’ chase thee, Wi’ murdering pattle! I’m truly sorry man’s dominion Has broken Nature’s social union, An’ justifies that ill opinion Which makes thee startle At me, thy poor, earth-born companion, An’ fellow mortal! "

You only have an accent if there there is someone around with a different one because otherwise nobody notices it.

Truth. More specifically, it originated in Leicester. So we are the absolute standard by which all accents are judged :-P And rightly so.

My dilemma is that I don't really have one. I was born and raised in New
Zealand so I should have a Kiwi accent like Jen, but my parents are both
from elsewhere (Bermuda & Canada) so I never developed a Kiwi one. I
only notice a slight 'Kiwiness' about it when listening to recordings of my
voice like on an answering machine. Having a proper accent would be 8)
Peace

I love the Kiwi accent. It sounds a little closer to some British accents than do most Australian. It makes me wonder what part of Britain most of them descend from. But I used to be able to mimic it fairly well, but it's degraded some since I don't talk to Jen every day like I used to. She always found an Australian accent to be extremely noxious, and I also used to get a kick out of throwing one at her on occasion. :D

Yeah I guess I do because people from another state came and visited at my house and they just exclaimed how much stronger my accent was in comparison to my sister's. The spoke perfectly normal to me.
-
I learned English as my primary language of course. Growing up I learned Spanish, seeing that my family is from Mexico, and than now that I am in High School I am in my 3rd year of French, going on my 4th with AP. So I have this big eclectic mix of languages and so, in turn, I don't have an ac cent.
I am sure I talk differently from people like say in Utah? because different regions but who knows.
-
I have a Canadian accent, eh.
-
I have Latin accent
-
I'm pretty sure everyone would technically have an accent.
I have a sort of Australian one, but it's only really obvious if I say words like "Australia" or use aussie slang.
-
of course I have an accent becuse I'm fron Germany^^I speak an absolute other language ;)
-
I have a really bad Black Country British accents, that is very distinctive to where i live, but anywhere else it can be a bit hard to understand.
-
People say I sound like I have a Minnesota or Wisconsin accent. The problem is I've never lived there!
I think I have a Nevadan accent, maybe it's just deranged. I grew up in a lot of places, so maybe it's a combination of all those influences with the end result being centered on Wisconsin.
I don't watch "The 70's Show" so it can't be that. ;)

This is a very interesting topic! I like it. It helps me learn where many Vanessa fans come from.
Well, I guess I have a Californian accent. ;)

FUNNY topic. hehe. I got a few laughs.
What is a Kiwi accent?
I think we all have accents, like someone said, it's just about who you are around.
There is a new girl at work who game from Illinois and she laughed at me when I said "Dallas" because I said it "funny" but I honestly don't know what was funny, it sounded normal to me! (and I was offened because you don't laugh at others, just acknowledge a difference). Besides, SHE came HERE so SHE has the accent. LoL

Kiwi refers to people from New Zealand. Though I'm at a loss for what a "Kiwi accent" may sound like.
