Distant lights flicker
In a land far away
Shadows flit across a wall
The mournful howl of a stray

A sleeping baby stirs
Cries to be held
A train rumbles past
Like metal, the stars and sky meld

Shouts from a house
The sound of a blow
The scream of a woman
A siren, a minute too slow
