Although I said before I was going on a No CARB diet, (NO Cheney, NO Ashcroft, NO Rice, and NO Bush), I just really don't give a fucking blue shit about gay marriage. That's why he gets my vote.

I'm not JUST talking about Gay marriage.  I'm talking about the Bush's own religious convictions say that Gay's are going to hell.

Not to mention, traditionally, republicans care little for minorities.

I don't consider myself gay, that's just a label, but if you have to label me, I prefer bisexual.

The reason I'm voting for Bush is because I have faith that he will win this VERY NECESSARY war in Iraq and he WILL find the Weapons of Mass Destruction.

The man is a god.

Right. And that's Democrats' (Kerry's) defense; however, THAT opinion is Republicans' defense. "Democrats are going to vote for anyone other than Bush. They don't care who's in office, which isn't how anyone should think . . ." Haha, Rush - because we all know how Republicans are perfectly . . . perfect.

It's so sad. Poor Nader. I love him - But if I was old enough, I wouldn't vote him because - as sad as it is - it's a wasted Democratic vote. You vote for Nader, it's a vote for George (not techinically, but in the long run). Not that Nader would be able to take office even if he did win . . . But hey. He's just there to let everyone know, "Hey, there's a happy medium. I'm it." But that's all.

I'm voting for Kennedy. :(

I assume, because she didn't reply, she has no other reason than her parents are for him, she wants to kick Iraqis' asses (haha, my favourite), or that "Kerry is ugly."

I'm voting for spongebob.  Umm... yeah.  Rofl, on thefacebook they added a little box for you to write in who you were going to vote for, and thats what I wrote.  Because yeah, I don't really feel like announcing to the world who I plan on voting for.  I did register, but I dont even know if I am going to bother to vote.  I'm sure you like to think that your vote actually matters, but my little vote in Connecticut, and whether I make it or not, doesn't matter.  At all.

Supposedly my Latin American Art teacher is giving away extra credit to whoever votes.  Anyone want to lend me their "I voted" sticker so I can pretend?

So vote for someone.....Even if you don't know who know, you'll know who you're voting for once you get into that booth.  It'll be automatic.  So please please vote!!  It's very important.

Your vote doesn't matter in California. Or New York. Or Texas. Or Massachusetts.

In fact, you never were supposed to have a vote for president. The state legislatures were supposed to pick the electors. The same thing for the senators. Then the 17th amendment passed and now the people elect their senators. Now that the senators are no longer the lackies of the state legislatures, and the president isn't elected by the states, the federal government has been able to ignore amendment X.

cece, it'd be pretty helpful if this was where you stopped talking out of your ass. just because she's a conservative, or at least voting conservative, doesn't necessarily mean that she's stupid or uninformed, it just means that she has different beliefs than you. is that so bad? no. people have different views and beliefs - it happens. maybe you don't agree with them, but no amount of criticism is going to change that. if she made the same comment about you being liberal then you would be furious, you're just mad because she's voting against the party you're for. you know i love ya cece, but really, get over it.

I think CeCe's point is, and it seems to be true, that Holly has yet to come here and defend her vote.  Now, she doesn't have to tell why, but just saying who you're for helps no one out--unless you tell why.  I don't think CeCe is just mad because Holly is voting Bush--I think she is mad because she gave no reason for doing so.  Yes, beliefs may be different, but, in many cases, the conservatives lack in reasoning to vote Bush.  Americans do lack the intelligence to see what has happened in the past four years, under this dictatorial-esqe rule.  And, I don't think CeCe would be 'furious' if someone attacked her for not responding...She might be if she responded and then was attacked for being liberal.  There is a difference.

In fact, the same study showed that people voting for Bush knew MORE about Kerry's stances than Bush's.

This is because a LOT of people are BLINDLY voting for Bush because 1) their parents are 2) Blind republican support 3) Blind desire to see the economy continue to improve and 4) They fall for the "patriotism" propoganda.

A life? On the weekends? So do the rest of us. But she's still not replied - and only as I guessed, Zen. So predictable are the conservative voters; it's a given.

And it amazes me how the majority is so uninformed and stupid . . .

cece, it'd be pretty helpful if this was where you stopped talking out of your ass. just because she's a conservative, or at least voting conservative, doesn't necessarily mean that she's stupid or uninformed, it just means that she has different beliefs than you. is that so bad? no. people have different views and beliefs - it happens. maybe you don't agree with them, but no amount of criticism is going to change that. if she made the same comment about you being liberal then you would be furious, you're just mad because she's voting against the party you're for. you know i love ya cece, but really, get over it.

There is a difference.

...except that holly doesn't have to answer if she doesn't want to. she may have good sound reason for voting for bush, and she doesn't have to answer just because you or someone else wants her to. she doesn't owe it to us if she doesn't want to, so i don't see why anyone would really has a reason for getting upset over it. maybe it's just me...

that's nice, but it still doesn't mean she has to answer....i dunno, it's just my opinion, but really...it's a message board, she can answer if she wants to, but i dont' see why people should be all "you have to answer" even if she doesn't want to. really, it's no ones business. all she was doing was answering the poll question, which didn't require or ask for a reason, just simply who she was voting for.

Why? Because he feels there's more to the decision than simply Iraq?

Blair has as much to answer to as Bush in light of the weapons inspector's report. But I've not ruled out voting for Labour next year. Does that mean I'll blindly follow Blair regardless? No, it does not. Although Iraq is undoubtedly important, there's just more to my vote than this single issue.

Yeah...I saw the news reports about that, but I still feel the world will be a better place without a Saddam Hussain....

Bush sent our troops to Iraq to get him...and they did...

Just like we went into Afghanistan to get Bin Laden...and we will...

....and lets not forget, Kerry agreed to send the troops too....

Nice logical jump :)

But no.  I lump him into that group because of a SUM of things he has said over time.  His positions in this thread only being a part of it.

But if you would like me to change this from being a simple dismissal of his politics into an actual attack on his politics, I would be happy to.

List of Facts about GWBush.

1) The US Economy is DOWN or has SLOWED in almost every measuable factor since 2000.
2) Bush supports a law that would REMOVE a right THAT ALREADY EXISTS from a minority (being, gays) in this country.
3) Bush has repeatedly spurned environmental improvements that hurt businesses
4) Europe HATES Bush.  Even most of our allies.
5) He led us into a war on false information on then refused to admit or apologize for his mistakes
6) He has no concept of BUDGET SPENDING.  Largest deficit increase in over 20 years.
7) He promised NOT to dip into social security.  Then did so.
8) He is using war funds on OTHER projects

Those are just a few.  I did a list of over 20 of these on another MB last week.

Even at the VERY LEAST I would vote for Kerry because he cannot POSSIBLY be as bad as Bush.

Going INTO the war was never my big problem with Bush.  Going into the war for the WRONG reasons was.  I am glad we went in.  We jsut should have done a lot of things differently.

The SUM of things?  Honestly, I haven't said all that much...all I've said is that Kerry flip flops on issues more and more....

someone listed some things the Bush flip flopped on...and I said they had something in common....

I don't like politicians, they are ALL the same....they all make promises and break them, they ALL LIE!

If Kerry is elected, he'll lie just like all of the other past presidents....

another thing I keep saying is that nobody is perfect, and I understand that Bush has flaws, but so does Kerry...

I've seen a lot of people seem like they're putting Kerry on this friggen pedestal, that from what I've seen and heard of him, he doesn't deserve to be on...

That's my position, and I'm sticking with it...I respect you for standing by your man (so to speak   )

WELL ...

Being sigged means that my name adourns every post Andrew makes ... I am dragged around where ever Andrew posts!!

And since Andrew is NOT afraid of stirring things up a bit
and not afraid of some controversy ...
his sigging me makes it look like I absolutely (and blindly) agree with everything he says
and I can hear myself applauding even ...

And when you scroll down quickly everything is blurred ...
and so it appears that I am partaking in all the wonderfully debates
that I really truely try my best to avoid and be dragged into!!!

I find it funny.

Having said that, aside from a few things I do generally agree with  him ... but it's just strange that iot looks like I"M ALWAYS in agreement and supportive his stand ;-)

That's all :-)

You can all come live on my Island when I finally get one.
But there will be NO TALK of politics, and we will all play nice. :-)

If he fails to do so, I will be among the first to speak out.

If we do wind up going to war with Iraq, it is imperative that we do so with others in the international community, unless there is a showing of a grave, imminent--and I emphasize "imminent"--threat to this country which requires the President to respond in a way that protects our immediate national security needs.

I don't think it was a mistake going into Iraq....we got what we went in to get...

yeah...we got lied to by a politician about why we were goin' in...they all lie...it's their job...name one politician who hasn't lied to us.......

see....you can't do it...

GEORGE FUCKING WASHINGTON.  BITCH.

Doesn't mean he wasn't a son of a bitch. See the Whiskey Rebellion and his blind following of Alexander Hamilton's policies that lead to it.

He cut down the cherry tree and ADMITED to it.  Obviously he never lied.

Prove me wrong.

I love you're method of debate.

BWill: I declare fact.  Fact must be true.  I dare you to prove fact is not true.

Others: No.  Fact is false.  For example, counter fact.

BWill: I bet if you dig deeper you will prove your own counter fact wrong.

How fucking arrogant can you possibly be?

I like this school of debate.  Let's try it.

Collin/Brian/Whatever your name is has an IQ of 12 and sleeps with 8 year old girls.

I know this is true, because someone very close to him told me.  But I'm not telling you who.

Prove me wrong.

Heh.  I never said he wasn't a prick.  Hell, he was a slave owner.

Really, I wasn't giving a serious answer.  I have no idea if he ever did or did not lie.  I just thought it was HILARIOUS that BWill was making the claim that ALL POLITICIANS LIE when our FIRST president is famous for being attributed with saying "I cannot tell a lie."

The comedy was just too golden to pass up.

No it wasn't.  It was obvious and trite.  If that's the best you can do then I fear for your career in the film industry.  Just, FYI, Shindler's List was not a comedy.  So no adding a laugh track.

You are the anti-funny.  If I took a particle of funny and a particle of you and put them together they would combine to create energy.

You couldn't even make Jen "lol"

You get your jokes "certified accurate" from Dan Rather.

Congratulations BWilli, You win the prize.

well, at least you're a positive thinker!

But please--laugh at a joke and don't say "you make no point with that."

And--you're back on Kerry, and you've seemed to ignore the facts about Bush.

We could go into more things than the Iraqi war...and we could also explain why Kerry voted the way he did on certain issues...Until you can stop saying "well no one is perfect," please stop trying to attack Kerry.  And STOP with the damn lie thing--we got, we got--every politician lies (hmm, I am glad you know that everyone of them lie)...How many politicians' lies have killed 1,068 AMERICAN soldiers and has wounded 7,453?

The only reason I brought up presidents lying is because all dems keep complaining about is how Bush lied...

Kerry will do the same thing to get the votes...

You're right.  You're a master troll.  Look at me getting incensed.  In fact, I'm so angry right now that I am going to start telling you I am too smart for this conversation.  And that I am not going to talk to you anymore.

Then, after declaring such, I am going to respond to every post you make.  Just to show you how smart I am.

Bueller.  Bueller.

Besides, you're lying.  This was never a conversation.  It was simply me bitch smacking you around for a bit.

A conversation requires you to be my equal.  Which requires you to be capable of forming a complete thought.  Alas, if you were that smart, you'd have known better than to bandy words with a rogue such as myself.

Well Andrew, just because he votes for Bush doesn't make him those things. I seriously doubt Kevin is a gay basher or a racist. I have spoken to Kevin in IMs about politics, and he agrees with Bush on several issues including the banning of gay marriage. Does that make him a homophobe? No. He has his own religious beliefs as far as homosexuality goes.

And so what if he voted for Bush, there's no reason to jump down his throat about it. Bush will more than likely win anyway, so you being a drama queen over it isn't going to change anything.

Yeah, it was funny when you exchanged clever banter with Brian Williams, but BV bashing is so not cool.

I'm undecided between Badnarik and Kerry.  I don't want Bush in office, but I also don't want to vote for a democrat.

Beyond not wanting to vote for Bush, I don't even want to vote for a republican.  If it wasn't enough just on Bush being in office, even if another republican was in office and/or running I STILL wouldn't vote for them.

It would have to be a pretty great candidate before I would vote for either the republican or demoratic parties.  Unless one was SO bad I'm almost forced to vote for the other just to save the country from certain peril.  Some republicans might say you don't know what Kerry is going to do, but possible peril is better than CERTAIN peril.

That nightmare is a reality in some parts of the US. A company named Diebold is making voting machines that have been repeatedly demonstrated to be vunerable to tampering and such. It is so bad, the California Attorney General is suing the company for misrepresentation!

all this political arguing took awhile to read.
1st of all one man doesn't control the entire government or country or the world.

I like Kerry as a person and he likes good music but... that doesn't mean I want him for President.

Let's tax the people that have money and make it suck for those that have cash or OWN THEIR OWN BUSINESSES. I don't know about you kids but when my boss gets the shaft we all get the shaft. That's just my experience. When you tax the hell outta those doing well it trickles down the chain and we all feel it. It's almost like Communism. It's like we have to all make the same otherwise we are punished for it.

In the Bible (for those still interested) it says to pay 10 percent. That means if someone who has one dollar it's a dime and those who have 100 pay 10 bucks. The Democrats wanna make those that make more pay more than the percentage. It's like 30 percent more. Fair? negative Correct? ummm hmmm not really....

"What. You make how much for doing well??!?!?! Well by God we are gonna tax your ass and give that cash to somebody somewhere." What a GREAT FUCKING INCENTIVE TO TRY HARDER.

Vote however you want peeps. What's odd, is that in my entire life it really hasn't affected me or my life regardless what political party was in office.

Yea, but giving the richest people in America a larger tax break than the poorest makes no sense.

The rich can afford to pay a little more taxes...and don't start with "they worked for it"...because it's not true in every case. There are single mothers who have to work multiple jobs, in some cases go to school for a better job, and still pay for and raise their children... I work with one of these single mothers...has she gotten a tax break? No.

Hey, did you know Bush can consider himself a small business owner?

Obviously, the tax cuts aren't working properly *looks at the deficit.*

Oh--and America runs on the Constituion, not the Bible.

BUSH SUPPORTERS ARE WILDLY MISINFORMED

From Judd Legum’s blog, excerpted from the PIPA study:

- 75% believe Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda.

- 74% believe Bush favors including labor and environmental standards in agreements on trade.

- 72% believe Iraq had WMD or a program to develop them.

- 72% believe Bush supports the treaty banning landmines.

- 69% believe Bush supports the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty.

- 61% believe if Bush knew there were no WMD he would not have gone to war.

- 60% believe most experts believe Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda. (An additional 19% think Iraq was directly involved in 9/11. Gallup had 62% on this question.)

- 58% believe the Duelfer report concluded that Iraq had either WMD or a major program to develop them.

- 57% believe that the majority of people in the world would prefer to see Bush reelected.

- 56% believe most experts think Iraq had WMD.

- 55% believe the 9/11 report concluded Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda.

- 51% believe Bush supports the Kyoto treat

Concerning the argument about gay marriage.  Just because you are gay or bisexual and you don't want to get married, doesn't mean you should just vito the fact that everyone has the right to marriage.  I think it's terrible to give Bush your vote.

I'm too young, I'm 17, but if I was of age, I would definitely vote for Kerry.

The deficit as in the crap load of money the US has spent on the war or due to 9-11?

And about the Bible, it was just a comparison of equality from person to person.

I think you have valid points Joe.

I'm on your side more than not. :)

We could sit forever and point out what's wrong. There are plenty. It seems like everyone only notices or remembers what's wrong rather than the good. What do we do to fix it? Do we really think that everything will change just because one person Kerry is in office? I don't think it's possible for one guy to control or correct everything that's wrong in our country or world today.  :?

Voting for Kerry isn't fixing the problems we all complain about, it just changes the name of who is office in my opinion. We still have a huge Congress and Senate who make decisions as well.

If it were up to me I would vote for John Stewart but that's not and option. At least I feel like I know exactly where he stands on issues.   :D

 Peace.

Which war "due to 9-11"?

And, yea, the Congress and the Senate control most of everything, but bills could be persuaded by the President.

Also, the next president this term will more than likely pick the next Supreme Court justice.

And that is why we CAN'T let Kerry win. He'd appoint someone who doesn't understand the simple concepts like "Amendment X," Art. 1 sec. 8, and enumerated powers. The Supreme Court is enough of a farce as is with Ginsburg and Stevens. The LAST thing this nation needs are more Supreme Court judges who try to overrule the legislature for no reason other than their ideological agendas. Regardless of whether you think that abortion should be legal or not, do you think the Supreme Court was in it's right mind when it decided 5-4 in Roe v. Wade that abortion was a constitutional right under the 5th amendment right to privacy? That's a judicial tradition that needs to end.

Kerry is planning on redeloying troops just like Bush. And under Kerry, there could be the reinstatment of a draft to get those troops, whereas Bush is firmly opposed to it. But BOTH canidates have plans for deloyments aka war. Once Iraq is stabe, Iran is next on the agendas. And it's still too early to see what happens with NKorea.

to be honest though rosie, that's what this whole election has really come down to, it sucks, but all that seems to be going on now is name calling and dissing...i'm not singling out anyone, because a lot of us have been doing it

in the end though, name calling really doesn't prove anything.  people have their own views, and at this point, with today being the big day, dissing the other party isn't going to do shit...

just go vote for who you want to vote for and wait to see what happens.

I hate to break it to you, BV, but you're full of shit.

Kerry wants to get troops out SOONER than Bush and Kerry has ALSO strongly declared NO DRAFT.  Also, redeployment <> adding additional.  It means REDEPLOYING troops already in the field.

Also, both candidates have plans for DEALING with other foreign threats.  Neither has suggested for a SECOND that they plan to send troops to Iran or N. Korea.

Also, historically, Republicans are significantly more likely to go to war than democrats, especially over the last 50 years.

Get your facts straight before you try correcting someone else.

but the truth is that Kerry voted to go to war too.

Kerry voted to go to war UNDER A SPECIFIC SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES that did NOT HOLD TRUE.

Kerry said "Go to war IF all other options are used up and IF we have the support of the rest of the world and IF our intelligence indicates that Iraq is a threat."

It was up to Bush to decide when those "IF'S" came true.

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal,
murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a
particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to
miscalculation .. And now he is miscalculating America's response to his
continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass
destruction...
So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA)

looks like deep down in his heart, Kerry felt the threat was real, and probably would have made the same decision as Bush though

I didn't leave it out.  That's the way I found the quote.  :D

Anywho...I've voted, done what I needed to do.  If Bush loses the election, I'll just be praying that Kerry doesn't fuck anything up and is able to make the right decisions, and stick to 'em.

That's because "what your mom said is full of shit" doesn't make any sense. In the context of Afterglow's post, you can't (in good conscience) take his comment as refering to anything other than Afterglow's mum's position that a vote for bush is a vote for war.
