Not that any of her songs really need to be re-named, but just for the hell of it...
Which song would you re-name, and what would you call it?
-
"Half A Week Before The Winter" to "Winter"
and
"All I Ask" to "Best Song Evar"
-
"Half A Week Before The Winter" to "Winter"
and
"All I Ask" to "Best Song Evar"
amen.
-
i'd change ordinary day to divide and conquer
lol@kev
-
i'd change "The Wreckage" to "Secret Need"
-
i'd change ordinary day to divide and conquer
Agreed.
and Papa to Plastic Love.
-
"Half A Week Before The Winter" to "Winter"
yeah
-
i like them all the way they are... though half a week before the winter is a rather lengthy title.... kind of like nsync's (god must have spent) a little more time on you... now thats long!
-
ok, not that i;d want any of her song titles changed, but i've been thinking
about a few(within the last few minutes...hahha)
Birdie = Pretty Doll .....or..
Breakable Doll
Worry Doll
Confused Girl
Love Me
'My Pretty' could even work.. heh
the more i listen, i think its about a girl feeling like a doll or some inatimate object, or has a man making her feel like she's some doll.. but the song makes you think doll.. :-\
meh whatever.
:D
-
nononononono i LIKE birdie!!!
-
i'd change ordinary day to divide and conquer
Agreed.
and Papa to Plastic Love.
Agreed on both.
-
"Birdie" ='My Pretty' could even work.. heh
I always called it My Pretty!! Until, she said finally named it, "Birdie." If my memory serves me correctly she didn't even have a name for it in 01 when she was playing it. I still like My Pretty.
-

you're right, there's a recording where she finishes and says, "i don't have a name for it yet so if you have any suggestions just come up to me after the show."
-
I'd change Afterglow into "Sunrise, sunset" ( I just feel like it)
"Half A week before the winter" into "Coats of White"
"Swindler" into "True colors shown'
Red Ditty into "What would you say"
"Who's to Say" into "Our Song"(Perfect right?)
and finally
"Paradise" into "The light before the darkness"
What do you think?
-
"Half A week before the winter" into "Coats of White"
"Who's to Say" into "Our Song"(Perfect right?)
What do you think?
Coats of White would be a better name...or just plain Winter (as most agree)
I kind of like "Who's To Say" as is though
-
Yeah I like Who's to Say, too.
And I like Red Ditty.
HAWBTW should be Winter, lol.
And Afterglow should be Afterglow.
I kind of think San Francisco could be called "The Ever After"
-

sorry. I'm not trying to be rude, but I don't like any of them... Here's why
Half a Week Before the Winter, like others have mentioned, would sound better as just "Winter" to shorten it up.
And mostly for that reason alone is why you're suggestion don't roll too well I think. They've become longer and more a mouthful to spit out. And Who's to Say is SO MUCH better than anything else that song could've been named because THAT'S what she's fighting about. Who's to Say that they can't be together and build a life together... Its not just about two people who care about each other. Its SO much deeper than that.

Ordinary Day - Palm of your hand
Unsung - As my song goes unsung
A Thousand Miles - A Thousand Miles
Pretty Baby - Pretty Baby
Rinse - Must rinse
Sway - High on lullabies
Paradise - One more day in Paradise
Prince - Willing and able to run
Wanted - More than
Twilight - See the sky
Who's to say - Old to remember
Afterglow - What's come over me
San Francisco - Back in San Francisco
-
Ordinary Day - Palm of your hand

you've made all of the songs too long...
Unsung is fine the way it is too

I disagree with every single one of them.
The titles for the songs on BNN are perfect the way they are.
-
Yeah... I agree with you.. but they asked me to re-name the songs.. And I tried my best
-
I agree with HAWBTW being Winter....
Papa is good the way it is
And I think Birdie should be Swirl
-
Birdie => wonderworlds :razz:
The Wreckage =>broken glass
-

If The Wreckage was called Broken Glass, I don't think I could listen to it cause of my car accident. It would bring back too many painful memories. I'm glad for the songs titles being what they are - I like them as they are now. But all you guys suggestions were interesting. :D

wow i dont really like any of these except for just plain "winter" instead of the longer one. actually that is a lie there is one other that i like better i like "wonderworlds" better than "birdie".
-
I dont think Half a Week Before the Winter should be called Winter, because its not about winter at all, its about HALF A WEEK BEFORE the Winter
lol HAWBTW should be called 'Unicorn Brigade' =)
..or 'Vampire Strife'
that just sounds sexy
-
Well... I think Ordinary Day it's not the right name.............. Take My Hand or Palm of your hand...... And All I ask would be better as " Able to "... I think it's better..........
-

I know, it's not just for two people that's why it's OUR song, meaning for everybody... Oh well, it's okay! :)
-
i think Nessa titled her songs just perfectly i would change a thing cept that HAWBTW would just be Winter...because that's just ALOT to say!
-

true
and when i say hawbtw people have no idea which song im going on about, lol.
Jamie
-
But HAWBTW wouldn't be cool as WINTER because the song doesn't talk about winter.. the song talks about half a week before the winter;;; Someone said it and I'm saying again.. It's true
-
i think im the only person that likes "half a week before the winter" the way it is. lol
i like it when songs have unusual or uncommon titles... otherwise its not as fun yannow?
then again, i named one of my songs "ode to: i'm mad at you" so... im probably not the best with titles sometimes. haha
but i always wished that "birdie" was named "My Pretty" or "Thrown to Wonderworld" i called it "my pretty" for a really long time and was in denial when she actually announced it as birdie.
and thats pretty much all i have to say about song titles. heh
-
winter is the name of a tori amos song and vc is always compared to tori anyway - i am so glad it is hawbtw
-

Prince - Willing and Able
HALWBTW - Winter
She has some song called Red Ditty right?? God knows how she comes up with such names... :?
-
i'd change ordinary day to divide and conquer
Agreed.
and Papa to Plastic Love.
agree...maybe she considered plastic love for the title for papa, but decided not to cuz then plastic love would sound too goth... cuz the song is already dark...muhahahaha
-
ooo yes...i like Plastic Love for papa, and Divide and Conquer for Od
-
Winter would just suck as a song title.....it's just tooo plain.
I would also leave "The Wreckage" as is.
Secret Need? I don't like it.
I think the only song I would rename is HOM.
I would rename it
"Put Your Hands On Me"....i think it sounds so much better.
-

seriously. and "plastic love" sounds cheesy to me. And "The Shit Just Hit The Fan" might be a better title for "Wanted." I dunno
-
"home" to "coming home"
"best behavior" to "that afternoon"
"hands on me" to "video exchange"
-
I wouldn't. I like them the way they are + she named them that way for a reason.
-
i agree, i couldn't think of her songs with any other names.
-
I really don't like the name change of "Put Your Hands On Me" to just "Hands On Me".
I'm sure Vanessa's mother is an awesome woman and all but talk about being a prude if she was really that bothered by the songs title. lol I mean, she still sings that lyric anyway.
-

wait was it her mother that pushed the name change? I was unaware of that.
-
I would rename "Annie" in "Watch her as she flew" :)

Well, everytime Vanessa talks about the name change she mentions her mother disliking the original title and that she changed the song title to appease her mom. I'm not sure if Vanessa just made up a joke in context to the name change or if her mother really pushed the name change.
Either way I still don't like it. lol
-
Hands on Me is shorter. Personally, I'm too lazy to type "Put your" every time I mention the song, so it's a welcome change.
-
i would rename "a thousand miles" to "i'd walk a thousand miles just to see you"
-
(http://www.cybertlcforums.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_wacko.gif) @ some of these suggestions.

I know, what's up with people taking lines from songs and using them as titles. :?
-
or i'd probably rename pretty baby as, "you light me up & i fall for you"
-
i would rename "a thousand miles" to "i'd walk a thousand miles just to see you"
Thats wayyyy to long. not practacle.

i also agree that Hands on me should have stayed "put your hands on me". much sexier.

very yeah put your hands on me sounds kina of like yeah but who cares its a freaking song a very good song.

Ah okay thanks for the info. That's possible.. she's always making up stuff about her songs. Sometimes it's not so obvious when she's just joking :?
-
This are just for the sake of changing the names, like if it had to change i'd call them this
Hand's On Me - Dalai Lama
Private Radio - My Melody
Papa - Plastic Love [like much of u mentioned] or Genuine Wannabe
Annie - Company With Ghosts or Summer Dies
White Houses - Your Secret
Sway - Let Me Down
A Thousand Miles - Tonight [which when it was released, i saw alot of people calling it that]
The Wreckage - My Secret Need [which someone mentioned]
Well that's what I think xD, and i love all the original names, but these are the only ones i'd change for the sake of it. + Most of these are lyrics from the original song, because think of it, they wouldn't have there original names without the lyrics xD
-
i also agree that Hands on me should have stayed "put your hands on me". much sexier.
yea...she is a grown woman now, and a sexy title wouldnt do bad 4 her reputation... but regardless of the sexiness of the song (God that sounds so wierd!!!) its a great song!!! :D
-
Yeah I like Who's to Say, too.
And I like Red Ditty.
HAWBTW should be Winter, lol.
And Afterglow should be Afterglow.
I kind of think San Francisco could be called "The Ever After"
the ever after for san fran would be a cool title... 8)
-
"Who's to Say" is the perfect title for that song, but I also think that "They" would be nifty. Because "They" is mentioned an awful lot in the song. Dunno.
I don't like the title to "Half a Week Before the Winter". It's only mentioned once in the song and it's too long. I'd name it "Carry On" or something.
-
i wonder how much time vc put into thinking of song titles
-

Ive wondered that sometimes to.... :S
