Title: Linkin Park
Post by: superscientific on March 26, 2003, 10:06:28 am
well most of you know Linkin Park from their Classic Album Hybrid theory since it spawned so many hit singles such as " in the end" , " crawling" , and " papercut".  Their fusion of cutting edge underground hiphop and bouncy rock grooves makes them have a sound that on one has been able to match.  Lots of rock groups try but cannot sound as unique as Linkin Park.  They have 3 albums....Hybrid Theory, Reanimation ( personal fav ) and now Meteora.
As a fan I have to say I wasn't as impressed with Meteora but it is worth picking up.  " Nobody's Listening" is my fav track.   so Check them out if u haven't already.....

My all time favorite LP track isnt on any of their album (although a slaughtered remix is on Reanimation), but the track "My December" is beautiful, the lyrics are powerful.
I was kinda disappointed with the new album. The song "Easier To Run" is excellent tho. But as a whole, their first album is the best.

I love LP and have been a fan since the start:
I hated my old fan site so i revamped and made a new one: http://meteoralp03.tripod.com

and continually post on their board under the username "mfcbbum"

check out my Meteora story by clicking the most ignored thread on their board....
http://forums.linkinpark.com/showthread.php?s=ceedeff4222c6a5c03288a3994fde83c&threadid=212289

And I even posted about WAL*MART AND LP on there:
http://forums.linkinpark.com/showthread.php?s=ceedeff4222c6a5c03288a3994fde83c&threadid=229224

And about LP all over my high school:

Their new single which is track 7 on Meteora is "Faint" and the video will be debuet on TRL in a few days!!

Nikkee-- Track four is called "Lying From You"

LOVE FOR LP!!

I like the first cd. But all of their songs kinda sound the same. Like their newest single from the new cd sounds like all of their older stuff, and even the video looks the same as their others. So I don't think i'll be buying their new album...

Title: AS POSTED ON THE LPMB
Post by: Blake on June 05, 2003, 11:45:22 am
I have the a small favor to ask of EVERYONE!

I called up my buddy at the radio station yesterday and asked if he would play Linkin Park's new song...And he said, "Somewhere I Belong"? and I said no, FAINT! and then he said well the thing is LP doesnt really like to be a top 40 type station...They could make millions more if they did but they don't want to...So your really the first person to request them!

So to make it short he said they wouldn't be playing it unless alot more people requested them...

Heres where YOU come in!

Call TOLL FREE!! 1-800-386-0937 (IT WILL NOT COST YOU ANYTHING IT IS TOLL FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) And just say ask if they will play "Faint" for you, make sure you say "FAINT"

OR email tias@entercom.com And ask him to play "FAINT"

I would really appreciate if you would do that, and if you do or not, if you would give me a number to call a station near you or an email address I WILL REQUEST THEM FOR YOUR STATION TOO!!

Thanks!!

Daniel

copy/pasted from my LPU report

Week 9887546 of my music video downloading statistics for the popular music video source www.launch.com

Numb debuets high at NUMBER 2 It's first week on the chart!

Faint makes a fair comeback to number 15 being falling to number 19 last week!

Somewhere I Belong has also jumped ahead to number 69 being number 72 last week.

In The End also makes a jump back onto the charts at number 97, after being off the charts for only about 4-5 weeks.

If your wondering the constant number one is still "Where is The Love" by the Black Eyed Peas and Justin Timberlake although there is a good chance that NUMB will take over next week, NUMB has seen one of the highest debuets EVER!

Obviously the people love the video!

Quote from: "Wakefield Today"
Injured pupil: bands blamed

THE mother of a teenager who cut herself with a blade in class says song lyrics from bands such as Linkin Park contributed to her daughter harming herself.

Speaking exclusively to the Wakefield Express she said many bands portrayed a bad image to youngsters through their song lyrics.
A 14-year-old pupil at Normanton Freeston High School cut herself in class last Thursday.
Her mother said: "She said the lyrics from these bands have an effect on youngsters.
"Teenagers listen to them and take in what they say. She is a pretty, bright young woman and a lot is expected of her.
"Everyone remembers being a teenager and how difficult it is. Sometimes I think there is a lot more girls have to cope with these days."
She says rumours about the severity of the incident spiralled out of control, meaning her daughter may have to change school.
She said: "Her injuries were minor – she has a few superficial marks on her hands.
"She did take four pills but they did no harm. I think it is the increased pressure put on them at school and in life – and that needs to be addressed."
Charity Childline agreed the problem was widespread saying 24,000 youngsters are taken to hospital as a result of self-harm each year.
Director Norman Titus said: "It's a big problem and one we hear a lot. The main thing is to encourage youngsters to share their problems with someone they trust."
For advice contact Childline on 0800 1111 or log on to ruok.net.

A Linkin Park lyric from One Step Closer:
"Everything you say to me takes me one step closer to the edge,
And I'm about to break."

Okay, this is the answer right here.

When a kid is cutting themselves, trying to atempt suicide or anything self harming I'd say about 90% of the time, it is not the music, it is not the friends, it is not the school, it is nothing EXCEPT, the god damn parent. I'm sick of these parents, and even kids thinking they can blaim everything on music.

For me personally, LP changed my ways from cutting, and things of that nature, to self respect, and thankfulness to be alive! And god damn it, any parent who thinks they can blaim that on music, should have their kids taken away from them! stupid assholes don't know what the hell they are talking about!

Linkin Park set to 'strip' in next video!

No just kidding, but! *copies from LPU chart report by DM*
Weekly Chart Report for Music Video Downloading on the Popular Music Video Downloading Site: http://www.launch.com

Numb- Last week 3 This Week 5
Faint- Last Week 22 This Week 29
Somewhere I Belong- Last Week 69 This Week 73
In The End- Last Week 83 This Week 86

Not so bad. 2nd Week number 1 for Beyonce and Sean Paul "Baby Boy"  Maybe if LP had strippers they would have a number 1 video..

UCV?

Oh and by the way, the reason the "From The Inside" video is around is because of it taking time to get the "Faint" video out in the US, so the UK had it earlier than us. So then they got "NUMB" 1-1.5 monthes before US, so now they have "From The Inside" before us now too...  It's a great video though!!

*And Meteora moving back up again on the album charts, #31 this week-last week #34.

Yeah it sucks. Just because they have probably 30% as many fans in South Carolina as they have in California.

Oh well...I'll hopefully be meeting them, and spending time with them in person this summer!! So I have that too look forward too.

GOOD NEWS!!

The stupid fucking losers that run the site, www.LPassociation.com once again fucked it up, and gave FAKE TOUR DATES!!

But of course you can count on LPA to do that.

1. They rip news and pictures off of people on the boards, and DO NOT EVER GIVE CREDIT. For example, they always whine about people stealing news from their site and not giving credit, when they do it.

2. Their site just plain sucks.

Tonight's countdowns....

BRL (Pop station's top 5)
05. JC Chasez "Some Girls (Dance With Woman)"
04. Jay-Z "Change Clothes"
03. Evanescence "My Immortal"
02. LINKIN PARK "NUMB"
01. Britney Spears and Ying Yang Twins "I Got That Boom Boom"

grrr

and The Rockin Top 9 at 9 (rock station obviously)
3. LINKIN PARK "NUMB"

Active Rock Chart

NUMB is #2 on Active Rock Charts. They were 62 plays off of taking #1 this week, however at their pace they should have #1 over Trapt "Still Frame" next week.

NUMB gained +174 plays this week. Raising it from #4 to #2.

FAINT lost only 40 plays from last week dropping it from number 13 to number 15.

Top 40 Chart

NUMB moved up from #42 to #34 gaining 193 plays.

It was also #1 on the local pop countdown (BRL haha) a couple of times, and tonight was #2, with Britney Spears and Ying Yang Twins "I Got That Boom Boom" at #1.

Billboard Top 100 Albums Chart
Has not been updated this week yet, it should be soon.
But from last week, which just became known  yesterday the results were:

METEORA fell back again to #39 on its 35th week on the charts. HOWEVER, It outsold last weeks sales, so if they didn't have the tons of debuet albums, then it would have moved up appropriatly.

LIVE IN TEXAS: Debuet at #23.

Year end Active Rock Charts

6. LINKIN PARK "Somewhere I Belong"
12. LINKIN PARK "Faint"
61. LINKIN PARK "Numb"

Which NUMB and FAINT did very well considering Faint was released mid-year and NUMB was just recently released, and yet still beat songs by big artists that have been out most the year.

As for the pop chart. NUMB has not been out long enough to make a dent.

Of course my immediate reaction is YES! If ya want, they released a live DVD/CD combo, ($14.99) around there in most stores for both items. It was released in november and it was from one of their Summer Sanitarium Concerts...It's called "Linkin Park: Live in Texas."

Anyways...Their more "ruff" live. It's not fun "In The End" and "Numb" type softer songs completly, and Chester said it himself that some people are shocked at how different they are live.

But they still sound great, and I can't wait to see them in March! It'll definaly be worth 35 bucks. Plus you get Hoobastanks, P.O.D. and Story of The Year!

Ohhh the beans have been spilled, the cat is out of the bag, the secret is no more....Even though I've known this for the past couple days, I'm letting it out, seeing as how Mike and Phoenix did finally reveal the secret...The next single is.....

*drumroll*

LYING FROM YOU which is track 4 on Meteora...

Quote from: "nicole"
yes my ex burned me the new CD! I am digging it! I love #4 whatever it is called.

And now for my chart report copy and pasted directly from my post on LPU.

Quote from: "My Chart Report"
The Next Single

Originally I was going to say that I know the next single, however I was not going to post it in respect to the fact that LP were trying to keep it secret, however, there are posts about it and supposivly Mike and Phoenix did let it out, and the posts are true it is "Lying From You" here is the expected impacting dates:

Impacting February 9-10

Billy Talent “The Ex” (Atlantic)
Descendants “Nothing With You” (Fat Wreck Chords)
Everlast “White Trash Beautiful” (IDMG)
Jet “Cold Hard Bitch” (Elektra)
Linkin Park “Lying From You” (Warner Bros.)
Mars Volta “Televators” (Universal)
PreThing “Faded Love” (V2)
Steadman “Wave Goodbye” (Elektra)
The Vines “Ride” (Capitol)

Active Rock Total Airplay

NUMB stays once again at #1 on active rock charts. It did lose 24 plays and the strong gaining #2 song, Nickelback "Figured You Out" will most likely dethrone Numb within the next two weeks.

FAINT moves back up ahead of Disturbed's "Liberate" to become the most played recurrent once again. Faint had 762 plays.

Top 40 (pop) Total Airplay

NUMB moves up one spot to crack the top 10 at #10 this week. It gained 559 plays this week. And I am asking that everyone call their local pop stations and request it! And I don't want to hear people whine about LP doing well on top 40, they've got this far now let's take them to #1!

Billboard Top 100 Albums Chart

METEORA falls again this week 3 spaces to #20 on it's 44th week on the charts. Still 3 Platinum.

LIVE IN TEXAS falls also 3 spaces to #65 on it's 10th week on the charts. Still gold (500,000 units).

Billboard Top Pop Catalog Chart

[HYBRID THEORY] stays strong at #2 which is it's peak position. It was the greatest gainer in sales, and did outsell last weeks sales, however it did not quite have enough to beat The Beatles "1" [Hybrid Theory] is still 8 platinum. It's been on the charts for 170 weeks.

Verious

I browsed every play list of Active Rock and CHR/Pop stations in America, and I found these.

4 Active Rock stations are already playing "Lying From You."

1 Active Rock station is playing "Hit The Floor."

1 Active Rock station is playing "Breaking The Habit."

1 Pop station is playing "Breaking The Habit."

1 Active Rock station is playing "In The End Live" and Somewhere I Belong Live"

1 Active Rock station is playing the following live songs: "In The End" "One Step Closer" "Papercut" "Points Of Authority" "Runaway" "Somewhere I Belong" "Crawling" "From The Inside"

1 Active Rock station is playing "Lying From You" and "From The Inside"

I was just thinking that...

Now if I were president...

1. Everyone would have a copy of LP's Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Reanimation, Hybrid Theory EP, Live in Texas, and would be forced to enjoy it.

2. I would eliminate "American Idol" and have Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Ruban Studderd, Justin Guiarini and all them put into a spider hole and forced to watch re-runs of Happy Days.

3. I would tie up "Simple Plan" and move them to a undisclosed location.

4. I would make Al Gore  permanitly the upper right hand square on "Hollywood Squares."

5. Everyone would enjoy Protocol show per week.

I love her new CD she has such a good voice! I am not crazy about "With You", but try "You Don't Have To Let Go". Great ballad.

Eh, Linkin Park's "With You" is so much better!

Admit it Joey, you only bought the Jessica Simpson CD for the pictures in the cd booklet..

God! I think that says something when a CD is $3.33...LP's Hybrid Theory is still 11 bucks at Wal*Mart and it's been out what 4 times as long as Jessica Simpson's?

Wow! They were completly off the countdown yesterday! It was weird a ton of old songs just made a comeback...Oh well it was weird, because I couldn't get through to vote, I'm wondering if they really even had someone in studio or if it was pre-recorded...More reason to vote hard tonight!

Half the reason I never liked Linkin Park is because when they first came out people just fell down in orgasmic glee for them. I was like "Dude, WTF?" and everyone was like "OMFGD00DTEHYRSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFNGGOOOOOOOOD!!!!11111111111111111one1111!" ... Plus Chester's voice annoys the hell out of me, lol. I keep trying to give their songs a chance though, I am open minded  8)

We have a station in Cincy called Q 102, and they are NOW picking up on "Numb", but Kiss 107 did a WHILE ago. I haven't Lying From You on the radios yet, but I don't listen to the heavy metal stations. Some of my friends do, and all they play is LP.  8O

PS : Jessica and Britney at top! Wooooo. Toxic and With You are *surprisingly* two of my current favorite songs on the radio.

They played Numb about 13209182734 times during the presentation, Somewhere I Belong. I was really surprised they were playing it, my school is really strict!

Well considering they have nearly 60,000 kids in the LPU now, (Linkin Park Underground, the fan club that costs 25 bucks to join, you get a shirt, CD, stuff, and access to presales, and stuff) they can't let everyone in. It's not like just an online street team...They send out flyers, sample CDs and stuff like that to the kids and they peep them at the mall and stuff like that...So it would be like insane to send out 100 packs of flyers to 60,000 kids...They only have 2100 in the ST right now...And I think they eliminate people for inactivity and then they let in more to replace them...Plus you get a lot of free stuff just for being in it...and you get like a shirt for 4 bucks and stuff...

Wow I love how they had a completly different name for DAVID "PHOENIX" FARRELL

Quote from: "Yahoo's Launch"

Linkin Park may have staying power
ERNEST A. JASMIN; The News Tribune

Nu-metal powerhouses Korn, Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach have all endured sales slumps since 2000.

Kid Rock - the man who all but ushered in the rap-rock craze with his surprise smash "Devil Without a Cause" in 1998 - has clearly recognized the turning tide and remade himself into a chicken 'n' grits Southern rocker.

Meanwhile, rock stations across the country - including Seattle's KNDD-FM (107.7 "The End") - are dropping the nu metalheads they favored in the late '90s in favor of a "classic alternative" format that's heavier on early '90s grunge.

Clearly, the rap-rock backlash has reached overdrive. But one band that rode that trend seems destined to avoid VH-1's "Where Are They Now?" much longer than the rest.

Linkin Park, the main attraction tonight at the Tacoma Dome, remains one of the biggest bands on the planet after exploding onto the airwaves with "Hybrid Theory" in 2000 - an album that's gone platinum eight times - and avoiding the sophomore jinx with "Meteora," the third best-selling disc of 2003 at just under 3.5 million units sold.

Singer Chester Bennington shared his thoughts on the Southern California sextet's sustained success during a recent interview.

"We definitely don't sound like any other band, even including the ones that are in our genre, I guess, if there is one any more," he said. "I don't think people see us like that any more."

Sure, it was easy to lump Linkin Park in with other nu-metal bands early on, especially with a double-barreled vocal attack with Bennington alternating with rapper Mike Shinoda. "But we were really more of a band that was just trying to blend all the different elements of music we were interested in listening to and creating something we'd never heard before - music that we thought was missing," Bennington said.

One thing's for sure: This is the ultimate pop crossover act.

The band - DJ Joseph Hahn, guitarist Brad Delson, drummer Rob Bourdon, bassist Darren Farrellis and Bennington - is that rare group that can sound heavy without sacrificing infectious melodies and catchy hooks. Theirs is a sound that fluctuates between hushed vulnerability and enraged screams, growling guitar riffs and explosive breakbeats in a way that doesn't sound as cut-and-pasted as the Linkin Park's rap-rock peers.

But at the core of the band's appeal is a brand of universal, young angst as expressed through "One Step Closer," "Crawling," "Somewhere I Belong" and other hits.

Bennington attributes the band's lyrical accessibility to the tag-team approach to writing he and Shinoda have.

"It's a little different than your typical band that has one front person who writes all the lyrics," he said. "I have to tell (Mike) what I'm drawing from. He has to be able to relate to that in some way to write his parts or what he wants to contribute to this song. The only way to do that is to talk about the emotion behind the situation instead of writing about the situation itself.

"So it ends up turning out being something more universal and something people from all different backgrounds and all different experiences can relate to."

While the band took three years to release "Meteora," Bennington promised that fans would not have to wait so long for new material this time around.

"There's a good chance by the end of the year you're gonna hear some new stuff that's not on any of the records," Bennington said. "It's kind of early to start talking about it just yet. But we plan on releasing something by the end of the year, and it's going to possibly include some music that you're not gonna find on anything else except that one piece."

Could it be another remix CD, a la "Reanimation"? A maxi single with a few b-sides?

Bennington remained guarded on the subject. "We're just now starting to plan it out," he said.

Mike's latest post on LPU, BTH Q and A:

Q: How long did the Breaking The Habit music video take and how hard was it to make?

A: the process of making this video was totally different from any of our other video experiences before. originally, the conceprt was written for live-action (non-animated), but when joe realized it would be too expensive, he began exploring other options. coincidently, he ran into a guy from GDH, the animation company, at the bookstore. soon, we were making plans to do the video in an anime style.

they shot rough band footage on basic DV cameras, and the animation team took that back to japan for reference. joe kept in constant contact with them for the entire length of the process. finally, just over a month ago, joe went to japan to help them finish up the last few parts; after editing, we had a finished product.

i have to say this is joe's best work. we are all really proud of him and the video. we hope you enjoy it as well.

it was pretty good, they had him park in front of a restaurant, and then while he was in there they put a fire hydrant in front of his car, and then put a hose through his car from the hydrant with a fire truck. then they had the police come to give him a ticket and some lady blamed him for hurting his dog or something like that...

i know what you mean bout annoying people on the boards - the Ben jelen board gets crazy sometimes with people posting 3958739458743 different threads in the wrong forum! Or the Rooney board which is the worst i think....i don't even bother to post :-P

I have high status on the LPU and LPST, and throught the LP internet communites, this should be interesting...I wonder if they'll kick me out of the street team since I'm not re-joining LPU... :?:

I havn't gotten the LPST shirt yet, but I liked the LPU shirt. There's actually a pic of me in the yearbook wearing my 2.0 shirt, haha! But I love the email address, b/c I don't have to load the hotmail.com or yahoo.com page or anything, I can just check it while I'm on the board, plus it's easy to remember.

this is official from the Korn Kamp Message Board

the greatest hits: volume 1 collection will feature NINETEEN singles and TWO brand new tracks which are covers of pink floyd's "another brick in the wall (part i)" and public enemy's "fight the power" (featuring lil' jon producing and chester bennington of linkin park guesting, which i may add is the FIRST MOTHERFÚCKIN' SINGLE BABY.) it's due out 08.30.04 and will have limited editions in a special package with a booklet with quotes from their fans.

YAY!! Very exciting and that is going to be a kickass CD!

Also a post of mine tonight:

Quote from: "Meh"
As most of you know I live in South Carolina and I am a cross country runner.

Today I was on the South Carolina runner message boards, and I saw a thread about a local runner was going to be on 20/20 with Barbara Walters tonight. I had seen that boy post before so I thought it was cool, I'd check it out, plus a local kid on a show like that sounded good.

I was kinda wondering why there'd be a runner on 20/20, but I sat there, and I had the tape recorder taping it. It comes on and it turns out that it was the boy who had a rare disease that basically causes his legs not to move, not paralysis, but they'd just be there. So his legs were amputated. He was the boy I had heard about who still ran track, but doesn't have any legs. It was something like sacralagenisis. They also mentioned Greenville (where I live) so that was cool!

So the story progressed and they were showing parts of him hanging out with friends and they were at a bowling alley and HEY YA! was playing and he was singing along and talking about how much he loved music. They said something about music, and he said that no matter how much screaming is in a song or loud music he still hears the lyrics, he likes to understand and hear the lyrics. Then he said, "My parents always hear my music and think how can you listen to that crap, all they do is yell, but I don't hear the yelling, I hear what they're yelling! I hear, 'In the end it doesn't even matter, the journey is more important than the end or the start,' and they may be yelling it, but that is a very valid point." [Exact Quote] They also said "he knows music back and forth." And he mentioned a couple of Limp Bizkit lyrics...

It was a very nice story, regardless of the LP content, definately enough to make a person thankful for what they have.

It was not without irony. Anti-establishment rock group Linkin Park holding its first Singapore gig at the Padang, right across from City Hall. More irony: The band's "self-censorship" as it pummelled its Singapore audience of 10,000 with its angsty hits. The boys were clearly awed by Singapore — not just by the food and warm weather, but also the McCafes and, most of all, the fact that there's a Borders outlet downtown. "Felt at home while there," smiled Hahn. When talk moved to their upcoming album, there were glum faces all around. "The thing is, we already had an album ready," explained the bald and bearded Farrell. "We recorded it over the last few years and were hoping to release it after the Meteora tour winds down in September. "Unfortunately, the hard disk was erased accidentally. "So, to tell you the truth, I'm really gutted about that." Accidentally? What gives? "(Rapper) Mike Shinoda has this collection of industrial strength magnets and absent-mindedly left the hard disk on top of his magnet collection," said Farrell. Bummer. "It's a real shame," added an equally pensive-looking Hahn. "I don't think we'll set about recreating that album. It took us three years to make. Now that it's gone, I guess we'll just start from scratch." Right now, the only thing keeping the sextet happy is the upcoming Project Revolution concerts happening in July and August all across America. Linkin Park will headline, of course, but they will be joined by bands such as Korn and hip-hop heavyweight Snoop Dogg, in an attempt to further unite the hip-hop and metal divide. "Now this makes up for the hard disk fiasco," Farrell laughed, clearly excited about the tour. As excited as they were to play in Singapore, Farrell and Shinoda added quickly. "We've really been looking forward to coming here," said Shinoda. "Frankly I do hope we do well. It'd be real nice to be asked back again."

THAT SUCKS!

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that is by far the funniest thing I've read all day, no all week omg!!

1. I'm not a gawth,
2. I'm not a sk8ter
3. I'm not a punk.

To say only posers like their music, is to say that the 8 million people would bought Hybrid Theory are all posers. Then you can also factor in that 8 million is only in the US, worldwide it was somewhere around 15 million.

Now since everyone is such a great evanescence fan...Lets take and compare the bands:
4 of the 6 in Linkin Park...sure don't look gawth to me.
Amy Lee...90% of evanescence. Definatly looks gawth, and she sure tries to be gawth.
Take for example this boy:
http://www.faceparty.com/member_profile.asp?member_id=2498169&member_name=goul_scout&acstr=Z23B8F12

About me:
Sexuality : Straight
Profession : idk i m stupid
Perfect Partner : amy lee
Interests : hard rock/death metal
Makes Me Happy : killing things/death
Makes Me Sad : happy people (maybe you)
Cigarettes : I don't smoke
Alcohol : I seldom drink
Drugs : I seldom use drugs
Bad Habits : trying to blow up people

My Dream Date...

ANYWERE WITH AMY LEE OR CHILLING IN A GRAVE YARD WITH BLACK CANDLES TRYING TO RASE THE DEAD SO THEY CAN HELP ME TAKE OVER THIS HELL HOLE OF A PLANET

Right...You call LP gawth..HA!

And then you say their videos suck. Right, they spend more time on their videos than most anyone. More than VC, and definatly more than ev.

Which video's have you seen anyways? In The End and Numb? You can't judge a song when you've heard 1 or maybe 2-3 of their songs.

Just a tad bit hypocritical of you to make such a reply after just last night you said:

lets all hug and be happy....lets make the 'nice section'

only peace and love... :amylee:

only idiots say things like "only posers (wannabe punks/goth/skaters) like that music"

sorry, but WOW!

 anyone can like any kind of music at all.

you dont have to be gay to like brittini spears.
you dont have to be a freak to like ICP.
you dont have to be a woman to like Vanessa Carlton
and you dont have to be a skater to like music at all.
skating is a hobby, its not a freakin race or club.

'punk'....this is punk...

punk2    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (pngk)
n.
Dry decayed wood, used as tinder.
Any of various substances that smolder when ignited, used to light fireworks.
Chinese incense.

adj. Slang
Of poor quality; worthless.
Weak in spirits or health.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

punk1    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (pngk)
n.
Slang.
A young person, especially a member of a rebellious counterculture group.
An inexperienced young man.
Music.
Punk rock.
A punk rocker.

Slang. A young man who is the sexual partner of an older man.
Archaic. A prostitute.

......read that and laugh.. just like i did.
...hehehe, that tickles.

...

so what SO WHAT!!!!!!!!
IM TIRED OF PEOPLE SAYING STUFF LIKE THAT!
Linkin Park is a good band. i dont care what kind of music it is. if i like it, i listen to it. im no goth, or punk, and i definatally CANNOT skate.

i do what i want, i like what i like. im an individual and i dont follow others. most people who like linkin park like them for them, not because its who they are. music doesnt define you. only you do.

not everyone is a 'punk' or a 'skater' or a 'goth' ... so some people are, good for them. they do what they like.

i dont even know what im saying anymore  :x
i just want the catagorizing to stop, its getting WAY out of hand.

people who say "oh, you like that band, then you must be a weirdo" are really dumb. people can like any band they want to, it doesnt mean anything.

blah blah blah... blah blah blAH blah you know what i mean.

PR? Oh my side the PR tour is gonna be sooo awesome!! If they're sold out, try www.ebay.com they have tickets at all the venues, just search Linkin Park or Projekt Revolution, some are expensive, but check all the pages before bidding, sometimes you can find a really good deal!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha

"Battle of The Newbees" yes newbees (Bee 93.7) - Friday night I missed it, but tonight I found out LINKIN PARK "BREAKING THE HABIT" beat YING YANG TWINS and TRICK DADDY "WHAT'S HAPPNIN!" Now the concept of the battle is they play two new songs, then during the next two songs everyone calls and votes on which song they liked better. Essesentially, you're choosing what music you want to hear. Well, tonight LINKIN PARK faced KANYE WEST "JESUS WALKS" and guess what?!?! LINKIN PARK WON AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Sorry for that 12 year old post, I didn't sleep last night and that really excited me.
Title: Linkin Park
Post by: Blake on July 20, 2004, 10:42:10 am
Well shit! Britney Spears "Outrageous" wasn't getting any new adds, and then over the last day and a half, her, Franz Ferdinand, Lil Flip, and Lloyd Banks just moved ahead one add over LP, so they'd better pile a couple more adds on so they can be in the top 5 'most added' for the week!

However they do already have have 342 plays on ONLY the top 20 stations that are playing BREAKING THE HABIT, so with the other stations playing it also, they might be "new and active" after only their first week going for adds!! The lowest 'new and active' song last week was Brooke Hogan "Everything To Me" with 354 plays on 29 stations!

Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself. Oh well.

Tonight, BREAKING THE HABIT beat Ashanti featuring Lloyd "Southside" on battle of the newbees.

That's 3 down, total of 5 to be retired. I laughed when one of the girls voting said "LP Breaking The Habit" yeah.

Post by: Blake on July 21, 2004, 11:23:21 am
Oh my side! I totally read the thing wrong! I wondered how they went down in adds, but what it was, they update daily, but I thought it would be added up throughout the week, but it was just how many new stations that spacific day ONLY. So LP BREAKING THE HABIT had 31 adds this first week, third most added. :D

Oooh 3 more adds today, and the top 20 stations already have more than enough plays to make them new and active!

Also last night BREAKING THE HABIT took on some weird song featuring wycleff jean or whatever, and it won by.............90%!!!!!! That's 4 wins, 1 more to be retired! YAY!

LINKIN PARK Breaking The Habit +232 on 42 pop stations...They're making the most increased plays list at #18 right now, but with about 30 more plays, they'd jump quite a few spots...And of course, this is only the begining of th week on charts...

I'll refer to my LJ entry last night for this:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/danielmarko/75611.html

Oh my side...I completly forgot to mention the coolest thing tonight!

As I've been announcing Linkin Park's new single "BREAKING THE HABIT" has been tearing up the competition on the local battle. Last night it beat some song by somebody and Wycleff Jean by 90% daaaaamn! Tonight, it was going for win #5, and with a 5th win a song is retired and supposivly added to the playlist and whatever...For their 5th battle BREAKING THE HABIT was taking on a song by Fat Joe, Terra Squad and Remy called "Lean Back" and.................. THEY WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Retired, 5 night champion. I'm sooo happy.

Also on 96.7 which I rarely listen to b/c they play alot of old crap, they take forever to pick up new LP singles, they started playing BTH, which I was shocked, and yet it's been out for rock stations for a while longer than the 1 week BTH has been out for pop...And so the DJ was really talking the song up, I was sooo happy! He kept saying things like almost every request tonight has been for this song, and people love it! I'm so happy, LP rocks!

Tonight (friday) on BRL they played BREAKING THE HABIT as the "buzzcut" which is essentially that it's getting votes, but not enough...Which is really good seeing as it was retired the day before!

*sits in corner with gun, gets a large Mountain Dew and watches intently*

Seems like Manda is going back on a lot of her words. First she said she liked Mandy Moore's music, then she said she shoul go to the "dumpster".  Before she said Linkin Park was for posers, and was nothing but screaming and bad music. Now she is saying that she <3 s them. WTF?

Anywho.... move along.

http://www.livejournal.com/community/goodcharlotte/1630643.html#cutid1

And then they said on their site: I don't think I've ever been so mad in my life!! After all the voting us GC fans did Linkin park won the Viewers Choice award..by cheating!!!! Well there's no eveidence yet that they used an autovoter but i have been told by someone that she saw it posted on a board so I'm having a look round for it. Now even though I'm biased I really think Hold On should have won that award coz it was the best video there and to be beaten by some cheaters well thats outrageous!! Us lot at GCNaptown may be setting up a petition against this so I'll keep you updated...

Linkin Park's video is better anyways. The Viewer's choice award is always given out to a "surprise" winner. Its never who is leading for weeks before the awards show and its never who you might expect.
(though in this case I honestly would have expected Linkin Park to win)

For real! LP spent tons more time on their video obviously...And the song has already been more successful on charts than GC.

AND one time I won a free ticket to a show of theirs in New York City, but it was the day I had my Biology midterm, and there were absolutely no make ups, so if I missed the test I would have failed the class :(  Aaaany other stupid class I could have missed, but nooooo, it had to be a test.  Grrrr.

so I'm back and I'll try to tell a lil bout the LP concert last saturday.
It was the last one of their tour...

It started at 10 pm to my surprise cuz concerts usually start soooo late lol but it was nice! The sound was good. Probably cuz we were at an open place (soccer stadium).
If anyone was expecting me to write down the set-list I'm sorry lol that's one thing I NEVER remember after the concerts haha but I can tell that my favorite song was Breaking the Habit cuz Mike started playing the keyboard by himself and it was soooo nice... Then Chester entered and aaaah it was awesome lol Except that it started raining in the middle of the song...  8O But still... I didn't care!

Ah they played Step Up, which was seriously amazing! I do remember they played Runaway cuz it's my fav song lol

By the end of the concert, Chester asked someone to give him the brazilian flag and he sang and then he kissed it... awwwww haha I know I'm silly but still... that was sweet. After he left the stage he actually went back just to wave and send air kisses lol that was also sweet so I guess he enjoyed the concert. I hope he did actually and I hope they come back some day.

Oh yeah, the place was packed! There were 70,000 people!  :D

Glad you like it :) I made a thread about her here a while ago if you wanna check out her other stuff. She's really talented for being as young as she is.
