my drug of choice

How addicted are you?

I'm good for four cups a day, when I am working. But I am trying to cut down! Hey, I don't do anything else! Why can't I have this? It's not that expensive. I don't need Starbucks, a good Dunkin Donut's latte will do. I'm not stealing the money from Grandma's purse to support my habit(yet). So......

I'm not DEPENDANT on caffiene, but sometimes I start to crave it REALLY badly and when that happens I'll drink anything in reach that has it... coffee, soda, whatever. I also think Red Bull is the greatest creation ever made by the hands of man.

Vanilla Caramel cap. is usually what i get. sometimes i'll get the french vanilla cap. from the machines if i'm in a hurry :-P i usually drink about one a day.

Coffee is BAD! My mum collapsed because she had drunk 8 cups in one morning because she works so hard. Don't drink it! It will only cause you harm! hehe.

Me too. But I don't drink coffee.

I do love Mountain Dew though. Why drink beer when you have something that tastes better and has a similar effect?

I've been addicted to caffeine before. The withdrawal is awful. Now I'm a casual drinker of coffee.

Joann,
I feel you sister. I used to be able to go two days without coffee but now I can only go about a day. My head begins to pound!! I love lattes and am happy to say that a Starbucks was just opened that is so on my way to work. Before it was out of the way. I do love a good ol' cup of coffee. I like to grind my own beans and I like my coffee black with Equal. Adding milk and flavored junk, doesn't make it coffee anymore. I can drink a whole pot but but have cut down to filling it to 10 cups.

lol @ your Rosie's mom drinking tea comment.

I love Coca-Cola, always have.  Vanilla Coke is really good, and I do declare that Coke with Lime is the best drink on the market today! :D

I like to have some coffee from time to time, but I like my coffee like I like my women:  Pale white, mildly warm, and really sweet.  Yeah, I'm weird like that. 8)

ingredients here (http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/formula.asp) may offer an idea as to an active habit forming constituent

Title: Coke addiction problem...
Post by: NESSAussie on March 19, 2005, 10:05:22 pm
Quote from: "druid"
It started when I was at a party and someone passed a coke bottle around.
I really didn't want any of it but the peer pressure was too high so I took a
sip of that sweet, sweet liquid. Soon after the first mouthful I craved more
and being a first-timer it didn't take long before I was flying around the party
house and eventually got so high from the sugar that the air force saw me on
their radar screens.

After that fateful party nothing was the same. Craving the feeling of what I had
just experienced I spent most school days thinking about "the real thing". and
as soon as I got out of class I ran to the closest dealer who usually parked just
outside our break area. I ended up buying six-packs because they would  keep
me supplied through the day. However, I noticed that after my first six-pack
cans just wouldn't do anymore and I moved to 0.5 liter bottles. Those kept
me going for a while but I noticed that my allowances were running thin and
I had to smuggle empty bottles out of my room regularly.

As you might guess the next step were even bigger bottles still; first I would buy
just one 1.5 l bottle but eventually I got the bundled 2 bottles at a time. Now my
savings were really running out and I had difficulties to finance my habit. I even
tried grinding and snorting the labels for a while but that only really led to emba
-rrassment and pain, and eventually to myself twitching on the floor trying to
lick the last drops from inside of the bottle (this exercise made me quite popular
with the ladies later on in my life).

It's amazing that with my permanent lack of cash I didn't end up doing crimes to
finance my addiction. The worst I did was set up a multilevel marketing scheme
for Coke merchandise which gave me some good perks until the head master
put us all in the lockup for the afternoon. I also worked at the local burger joint for
a while which gave me access to the coke machines there and, yes that's right, I
started cutting the supply. The customers never noticed! If only the same would
have applied to our procurement manager who followed the sticky trail of sugar
and financial losses and found me shooting the syrup in the storage room.

Today I feel I've beaten Coca-Cola and don't really crave it anymore. My blood
still has the consistency of syrup but I manage to get on with everyday life
without spending too much on beverages. The nice people at Starbucks really
helped me getting over the whole Coke thing.

I love coffee. Lately I haven't been drinking as much cos the milk doesn't do me any good, so I'm becoming addicted to tea instead. No need to say I can't even say a word in the morning if I haven't had a cup of either of them. Even after that I'm not all that awake yet... I'm so not a morning person  :?

Last night was the first time I overdosed on coffee. I made my normal stop at Starbucks on the way to work. That is usually all I have for the night. About 1:30 am or so I made a pot and drank it. When I got off this morning, as tired as I was, I had the shakes (I guess that's what you call it) and could not sleep. I have never had that problem before. I can usually sleep even if I had coffee.

I still love and have to have coffee but I can almost go two days without it. I don't use Equal anymore. I use Stevia. I am currently enjoying a cup of Caffe Ladro's Diablo blend. I brought a pound back from my last trip to Seattle. It's delicious!!

I wouldn't say I have a caffeine addiction. I use it when I feel I need it and I don't when I don't. I always keep a bottle of those little yellow pills in my car in case I didn't get enough sleep and I have to work.

I used to be really addicted to caffeine. I never even drank THAT much. At most I'd have 4 regular mugs. And back then it was usually 1/2 caff at my parent's house. But then I started also drinking green tea like 4 times a day and I remember I decided to quit both cold turkey because I had pretty bad acid reflux and was becoming just stupid in the mornings. I was ok until the 5th night I got a raging migraine. But I guess that was the breaking fever, so to speak, because after that I was fine. But it's a real addiction because I quit for about a year totally, didn't even do decaf, but I would crave it all the time. Eventually I started back up again, again it go to the point where I was feeling icky (again only drinking like 1-2 cups a day, I guess I'm a caffeine lightweight) and I quit. I now drink decaf only, but usually once a day. If I mix a bit of regular in it's usually ok.

But I wish they sold Dunkin Donuts flavor shots. I am going to try and find them somewhere. The kind without sugar. So good.
