The recording I mentioned two weeks ago is finally ready! This is a VCD of Vanessa's entire concert at the Exit/In in Nashville, including some clips of tuning and soundcheck before the show and the autograph signing after the show. (Sorry, there wasn't enuff tape for Ari Hest.) I'm going to try to make an Audio CD version soon. This VCD is in NTSC format, so probably only people in the U.S., Canada, and most other parts of the Americas will be able to view this. (I'm going to be working on a PAL format version soon also.)
If you're interested in a copy, please PM me. I'm only asking for the cost of packing and postage.

I am going to have someone in Europe helping me distribute the VCD there. And as for Brazil, I may send it directly from here. What I need to know from anyone outside the U.S. and Canada is whether they need it in PAL format or if NTSC will be fine. NTSC will play fine on a computer, but if you'll be playing this on a TV, NTSC may cause a weird display on a European TV. I don't know about Brazil. Do your TV's use NTSC or PAL or something else?

Ok... most VHS/DVDs in Brazil use NTSC. Over air broadcasts are in PAL-M. Most televisions down there can handle both perfectly.

By the way, I can send a PAL format if anyone needs it. Let me know! Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and many others need PAL unless you intend to play it in a computer or your multi-region DVD player can handle NTSC VCDs.

A few weeks ago before the original post was made for this thread someone posted videos from the Nashville show on an LJ community, and from the images I see, I can tell it's the same video. However, some of the files the person edited are badly cut, well, it's not that bad, but it's annoying to a degree. I have full videos of her performing Private Radio, Who's To Say, Papa, Ordinary Day, San Francisco, Half A Week Before The Winter & Afterglow. Along with clips of C'est La Vie and Twlight as well her saying goodbye to the audience.
Private Radio is interesting live, some of the lyrics are altered and changed.
I tried to upload some of them onto You Send It but the files are massive and the uploading process was tedious and I gave up, if you'd like a video of a song you can PM me and I can send it over AIM or MSN if you have a cable modem I guess. I have no patience for users with dial up however, sorry, nothing against you, I just don't feel like sitting around for hours waiting for an 80 megabyte file to transfer.

I'm sorry for wanting to share a video with the rest of the board, last time I checked no one said the DVD was the only way of acquiring footage from the show.

Okay, I am absolutely not going to get mad if someone else is sharing video of "my" concert. :razz: I can say that any video you have seen up to this point is not from me because my video was only released Saturday and it hasn't had time to reach its first recipients in California. I'm only asking for $1.00 in the U.S. to cover my postage costs. (PM me for the cost in other countries.) Some people already are ridiculing that price and sending me more. I'm cool with that, but I'm certainly not going to ask for it. The problem is, often families have a computer. That doesn't mean the individual has money. Furthermore, it is rather difficult for someone without a credit card or checking account to get money to someone across the country. Some kids don't get any money from their parents at all. Owning a computer and having access to the internet is no indicator of whether or not a particular person has money or their ability to pay for something.

I'm a total computer dummy, but if it's Video CD, isn't it then an mpg file? The NTSC or PAL issue would only come into play when using a DVD player....and if there is no region coding, then any player should play it.

That is true, but there are some people on here who are going to play it on their TV, and I don't want it looking stretched or squeezed, so I'm going to (try to) format it properly.

Vanilla PAL has 625 lines of horizontal resolution. NTSC has 525. Also, NTSC has a refresh rate of about 60 Hz. PAL has a refresh rate of 50 Hz. The DVD player would have to convert resolutions and frame rates. Some do (like most players sold in Brazil, for example, although PAL-M has the same 525 lines and 29.97 FPS as NTSC, making the conversion trivial.).

I know when playing one type of VHS tape on a different TV, it often results in discolouration and flicker. But I digress. All of this is just theoretical for this disc until people in other countries start getting it and playing it on their TVs. 8)

Yes, I held the camera, I captured it to the computer, and I created the movie tracks and put them on the disc. No, no flashy cover. The ink costs would have doubled the price! It does have a menu screen, tho.

ahh, sorry dustin! it all started because i said something like "5 reais? i could buy two giant pastels and coke for that!" Anyways, a pastel is a type of fried dough common in brasil, folded into a pocket and filled with various things... chicken, cheese, meats, etc... There are also sweet pastels that have sugar on the outside and things like chocolate or candy on the inside.
oh, and murillo? i sent a package to juliane in japan on monday... she got the package on friday. less than a week, haha! the post office just likes me! :P

If I send it from the U.S., it would be 5.50 reais. So it would probably be easier for you to get it from another Brazilian, cheaper and faster too. They should get their copies soon. I'm actually surprised I haven't heard anything from them yet.

btw, I only sent extra money because sometimes PayPal takes fees out so I didn't want you getting less than the $1 you wanted but obviously they didn't take out fees. I guess it's just for premier accounts.

I got my copy of the VCD today :D. It is awesome. I am sitting here watching it while eating lunch before I go to work.

Thanx! :D As a matter of fact, I did set the camera directly on the stage (well, actually, on a coiled-up extension cord that was directly on the stage) for a couple of songs because I really wanted to take in the experience (and plus, my arm was getting tired :razz: ). But I'd never really thought about it like that until now. My camera (and the 'Be not Nobody' cassette which she autographed later) were sitting right on the edge of the stage where Vanessa Carlton was playing! 8)

How did you manage to tape the whole show with a digital camera without security hasling you? lol cuz I remember at the Roxy show in Hollywood the security had a hissy fit on the last song cuz they saw one of the nessaholics with a digi camera (I think it was Let right?) so yeah, did security just not really care?

For one thing, to make it stronger so maybe it wouldn't break this time. (I'd still like to see that, by the way.) But to be perfectly honest, the NTSC version came out just a touch clearer than the PAL version since the NTSC was the original (though they're both really good), so if the NTSC will play fine for you, then you might want to use it instead. I just didn't know if it would play at all, so I threw them both in.

Euw, sorry that happened. I figured it would probably happen at least once or twice since I'm not using the fance 65¢-a-piece padded mailers, but then everybody would have to pay more for something I feel bad about asking money for in the first place. So far, though, this has been the only such problem I've been told about.

The Audio CD version I promised is now ready! :D Everything that applies to the Video CD goes for the Audio, except we don't have to fiddle-far with two different display versions. This CD came out better than I expected: It's stereo, very clear, and has no pop or silence in between the tracks; it plays continuously for 71:49. I'll have MP3's of all the tracks up for downloading tomorrow. ("Private Radio" is available here (http://forums.nessaholics.com/viewtopic.php?p=151022#151022) now.)

some dvd players and all ps2's won't play vcd's because they don't have mpeg capabilities... vcd's aren't an essential part of dvd players: they are considered extras. however, all computers should be able to play vcds.

exactly what happened to mine, I dont have a digital camera so I couldnt take pictures. But Im willing to pay for the bubble wrap to keep it safe, and so I can pop it when I get it lol Or if you have an old c-d case maybe from those AOL things everyone gets in the mail that would be cool just something cheap, but I am deff. willing to pay for whatever just so it gets here safe.

It looks like the demand for these items (at least for originals from me) has fallen off, so I'll be putting my masters in a safe place. I can still make copies for anyone who decides they want one later, but it may just take me a little while longer to get them out rather than the next-day shipping I've been trying to do until now.

I'm posting to let anyone else interested know that I'm putting this disc on moratorium after September 10, or supplies are depleted, whichever comes first. If anyone has requested a copy (especially if you have sent money), please PM me immediately to ensure that you get yours. All money for postage must be received by September 10 or the end of the supply to guarantee availability. I may refund any money I receive after that, minus fees, or I may honor the request based on supply. Requests received after the supply is depleted but by September 10 may be honored, but you may have to wait. After September 10, anyone wanting a copy may try to contact someone else on here who has a copy as I can't guarantee I'll be able to make any more copies on an immediate basis.
By all accounts (including my own), this was a wonderful concert, and I'm so happy to have been able to share it with my fellow Nessaholics. I thank everyone who has helped me share it by making copies for others! :D

I am trying to make more copies of the DVD to send out to the people who somehow never got a copy, but for some reason, the computer can't seem to read my original, and I can't find another copy here at home. If someone out there has a copy of the DVD (not the VCD, which I have plenty of, but a disc that says DVD+R on it), I would so really appreciate you making a copy of it and sending it back to me so I can make more! I'll cover all your costs, and then some! :D
But I'm not sure what happened to the disc. Nothing is visibly wrong with it, but it seems to have unrecoverable read errors through the whole last 9% of the disc. :?
