Title: My cover songs on my CD
Post by: All I Ask2003 on July 01, 2005, 07:53:19 pm
Some of the songs I recorded at the studio.  These are the unmastered versions of 4 out of 9 of the songs I recorded.  They'll be mixed sometime later this month, and I'll put those up if anyone likes these.  I'd really appreciate feedback, don't be afraid to say they suck.  They're all cover songs.

Where the Streets Have No Name - Is this Vanessa? Cause it sounds exactly like Vanessa's recording. Are you singing along to Vanessa? Cause it sounds like you're just sining along to Vanessa's recording. Your voice sounds good though.

C'est La Vie - There was a really bad note. "Can you se my fire red" or whatever the lyric is. You're voice sounds good, but again..... reinvent the song. It makes it more interesting. Good job, though.

Annie - Again, it's the exact same thing as Vanessa. It's good... but if I wanted to hear it, I'd rather hear Vanessa sing it (no offense). If you changed the arrangement around a little more, it'd be hot. Your voice sounds really good, though.

Letterbomb - Interesting choice. This is my favorite Green Day song. So I was reallt worried, to be honest. You can't hear the guitars for the first part of the intro. You can hit some really low notes. I like it, I guess.

annie and Streets are the best ones definitely. streets is really good.

C'est la Vie is hard specialy when she sings "oh if you could see....perfect harmony" to skip one octave up fast is hard so I understand that it´s hard to hit those notes.

But overall those are great=)

When u say cover songs, u REALLY DO MEAN COVER SONGS, what you have done is illegal, and unmusicianship like.

"Streets Have No Name" sounds really like Vanessa, although I don't think it is her. You have done a really good job on that song! The verses are really good, but where the chorus' comes in, you should work on that bit :)..

"Annie" sounds a little off-course, but that's just because it's a hard song to do. If I tried to sing "Annie", I reckon I would mess it up completely! You have done a good job considering though!

It's only illegal if she's selling it, or performing it.

It's only illegal if I'm making money off of it without the artists' permission, and neither I nor anyone I know personally has tried to make money off of the songs with me singing them.  I know you think it's crappy musicianship, but I only had 10 hours of studio time, no guitar skill whatsoever, no band, and I'm not a pro on piano, so I decided to use this as a stepping stone.  I still haven't written any of my own songs yet, but I have lyrics without music, so at least I'm gettin somewhere.  Also, I really appreciate you guys listening to the songs.  I know I really suck, but hopefully I'll get better.

You're right, it is copyright infringement, but it's so minor the originators don't care unless you are making money off of it. Playing someone's songs is just like when people draw fan art. There's really nothing wrong with it because people do that all the time. I love playing Vanessa's songs myself. Are you saying it's bad just because she recorded it?

Anyway, I'd love to listen to your songs but the links didn't work for me. I think your file has expired.

She's 14 you guys.
Give her a break eh?
Even if it IS illegal
Just let it be.
It takes balls to put music up that you did yourself
(Even though she was singing along to V)
And you're yelling at her for it.
How do you think she feels now?
Just
Can't you be a little nicer??

like i said before, thanks for even listening to the songs.  i'm not exactly singing along to vanessa though.  i have this vocal fade affect on my cd player and i make tapes of that and then bring it into the studio.  the next cd i do i'll be doing a lot more though, like playing piano and my own backup vocals.  then as soon as i get a kickass band together we'll do our own stuff! lol some of the stuff i plan to do next time with me and the piano is...

who's to say
one of these days (michelle branch)
are we the waiting (green day)
the background (3eb)
and if i elaborate on the little ditty i made up then that, too.

again, thanks so much for listening.  sorry if i pissed anyone off with breaking the law or butchering vanessa's songs. hehe.

ps- to morningsting, i'm a pretty hard ass 14 year old

That's cool.
All I remember is when I was 14 I sure as hell wouldn't post stuff I did on a message board.
I take things soo personally.
Guess I like looking out and defending those who need it.
Strange though since I have no children and want none ever...
:D
My name's Aimee by the way.

lol i'm SO glad i'm not the only one who hates kids. i made a joke that if i got stuck with raising kids i'd give them some horrible names so everyone would make fun of them  i think that's also sort of me getting revenge for having such a horrible name (kylyn) no one can spell it OR pronounce it.

links dont work for meeeh

I seriously started re-thinking kids after my first job.... it was a babysitting job for this six month old baby that was teething and cried constantly.  His parents told me the job would be from 8:30 to 4:30 every weekday. But I ended up working 9-12 hours most days, having to go over at 5 in the morning twice, working one day i wasnt supposed to with no bonus, and getting jipped off my 150 dollar per 8 day pay. I think I should have gotten at least 200 for all the work I did and all the extra hours....but whatever.

Needless to say, I won't be working for them again

Yeah, and just think:  If that would've been YOUR kid, you wouldn't have been paid ANYTHING.  In fact, it would've cost you a shitload of money.  It's ridiculous.  In my opinioin, raising kids is the complete OPPOSITE of fun.

When I first started dating him and we were talking about kids and stuff I actually wanted kids.
Now I don't LOL.

Are you trying to be famous off this? Because you sound too much like Vanessa to be your own artist... unfortunately.

And anyone who remembers my songs knows I sound like Vanessa too (not as much anymore I don't think, but I am not really sure)... but I don't plan on being famous and I try to sound like her on purpose because I am only showing people here probably if I do it. Haha...

This is cool though, I wish I could do something like this. Fun :)

and also... I didn't realize you were only 14. I think you have a nice voice now but it is pitchy and you do hit off notes. I think with a vocal teacher you could become so much better though because the sound of your voice itself is pretty :)
