I must warn you, this is my interpretation and it isn't completely accurate, but it's almost impossible to hear the piano in the bridge, so I have improvised slightly there and tried to create something that would fit with the rest of th song. Sorry if you think this is uselessly wrong, but I tried anyway...

well, have you heard the acoustic version that she did on that cassette recording at the 'Bitter End' from 1999? all i know is that during the break, it switches to G Major, then back to D Major again.

the parts where Vanessa plays really loud on the piano on ATM, especially before the bridge.

Yup.  That used to do it for me, especially a few years ago, when life was getting REAL heavy.

Also, Annie of course, when she sings "More to life than trying to survive".

The last chorus of OD, where she sings "Take my hand...".  Her voice cracks just a little bit, and it's really powerful.

Dan/NS

the part when Annie reaches the bridge and on to the end. i also love the intro.

on OD when she sings 'Time will not flee...' and when she sings 'duh, huh', and when she sing 'Live while you can...' b/c her voice is kinda raspy.

and ATM has a special meaning to me, b/c it got me interested in piano, and i've been in love ever since.

Best Technical- Where The Streets Have No Name; it sounds a lot like the 'BAYWATCH' theme.

Best Vocals-Paint It Black at the end, b/c it shows off her range; Wanted, b/c her voice is whiny and beautiful; Morning Sting, b/c she sang her highest note; Wishin' And Hopin'; she made her voice sound old-fashioned and nostalgic

-Favorites-Annie, Afterglow, Private Radio, ATM, WTSHNN, Prince, Wanted, Paradise, etc.

Yay! I love you forever!

you're very welcome. it's something that i found farther back in this thread that someone else posted; [i forgot what page] i just adjusted the url so that i would be an image that everyone could see. you can ever add your own flavor to it; that's what artists do. that's what i do to Vanessa's music after i've learned it. :)

if she started working on her next record this past August, then she should release it Fall of '06, like she did Harmonium. it shouldn't take that long, b/c she already has some of the new material lined up; all it needs is a band and orchestra to back it up. i hope this record does better than Harmonium, even though it's unlikely.

the parts where Vanessa plays really loud on the piano on ATM, especially before the bridge. you're a truly great musician if you have that effect on people.

I've started working on it, but I'll be a while cause I've got a lot of other work to do right now.

take all the time you need. as much as i love the piano music, i'm not really in a hurry for anyone to transcribe this; i have enough songs to learn to record my demo as it is.

-the album version of 'Afterglow', when i first got the album back in January, especially during the bridge, instrumental break [where she vocalizes and the music climaxes], and conclusion.

-the ending of 'Paint It Black', b/c she really showcases her range w/o her sounding pitchy.

-the European version of 'Pretty Baby' that's all echo-ey. the piano and her warm, angelic vocals really capture me.

-'Annie', b/c of the music and powerful lyrics.

-'The Wreckage', b/c of the melancholy piano, and her angelic vocalizing.

-Morning Sting, during the bridge, when she sings all those pretty high notes.

-Ordinary Day, near the end of the bridge, which gave me chills a couple of years ago.

-Superhero; i just wish she's record a more upated version, b/c the piano and vocal arrangement is beautiful.

here's the first page of STREETS. i was feeling inspired today and came up with a fast tune in C Minor that's inspired by Stevie Wonder. it just came outta nowhere. so the bottom line is if i come up with some good [and quick] outta this, i'll let you guys know [and listen to it].

i can do both... sometimes. but ATM is easy to sing along to, though.

253
the individual notes, i can decipher. but i don't think that it has THAT many parts; just a 2-part harmony that echoes. i think a solo performance is possible, but you'll have to use your imagination on this one and improvise the notes.

but i know what Vanessa did to make that many effects and mix them up; i found out from ACCENT Magazine [which specializes only in Yamaha pianos] that they have at my local piano shop. it has seasonal issues.

Vanessa had to most likely use a Yamaha upright Disklavier to record WTSHNN, along with computerized mixed effects. you see, Yamaha Disklavier is able to record an individual performance, and then afterward you can mix and embellish it to your liking. that's what Vanessa did to that song.
