I wonder why Nessa is going to OH to just open for Stevie Nicks? humm....I guess it could be a big crowd to get her exposure but I wonder why she didn't just do a show around where she lives? sorry rambling...

Vanessa Carlton to open at Gold Dust shows
Friday, 03 June 2005

Singer, songwriter, and pianist Vanessa Carlton is slated to be the opening act for Stevie Nicks' upcoming Gold Dust Tour. She is reportedly confirmed to open at the June 25 show at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (Blossom Music Center) and the July 20 show in Morrison, Colorado (Red Rocks Amphitheatre). Other performances are expected to be announced soon.

Carlton, a classically-trained pianist, is best known for the ubiquitous radio hit "A Thousand Miles" from her 2002 debut Be Not Nobody.

Carlton befriended Nicks and members of Fleetwood Mac during the band's 2003-2004 Say You Will Tour. The meeting led to Lindsey Buckingham's collaborative appearance on Carlton's 2004 release, Harmonium. Nicks also offered words of encouragement for the young artist. "That all meant so much. I idolize Stevie in so many ways. For them to be so kind to me is very special," Carlton said in an interview earlier this year.

Before entering the music scene, Carlton was a top student at the School of American Ballet in New York.
