(Her last album had many Stephan songs, maybe that's the tape??)

(Stephan isn't exactly a commitment minded man and he has said that in the past)

My parents say "Isn't he a gifted son?"

(Stephan is very gifted)

(If this is a recent song and she has only been with him during this time... sounds like it’s about Stephan to me)

(They live together etc... but from the sound of his last Cd he possibly still has a thing for Charlize and Vanessa knows this)

(She loves his creative mind but now it's backfiring on her because he can't commit)

(Everyone is always saying he's a cheater and maybe he deigns it and his smile makes her believe him, or maybe he comes clean and he smiles at her and she forgives him...)

(She's happy waiting for him to grow up and commit and realise that they are soul mates etc: even though she's not getting any younger and even though he is hurting her)

(Then one day he finally realises that he is 40 and still afraid of commitment... and see's himself though Vanessa's eyes)

(Just because they are still together now doesn't mean they haven't broken up in the past, and at the time Vanessa wrote about it; and now after realising what a great song it is- deciding to play it for us)

(See- its present tense again... ‘I'm the summer girl that you enjoy’... so he's still enjoying her and they are still together)

(And although she feels like sometimes she is wasting her time with him as he refuses to commit, she knows that they are meant to be, so she is prepared to stick around because she doesn't need for him to tell her anymore cause she knows and it’s all she needs)
