he's not dating anyone, i'm pretty sure...

unless they're back together, which is what i bet is the case.

He is, actually. :(

That does seem really awkward... esp. now that he's dating again and she's single...

What a manwhore.

Anyone know why the credits for FLM aren't given on VC's site, or if they are listed anywhere?

P.S. Sorry for reviving this thread... I couldn't find a newer one about the song. :)

Great video, thanks for posting. I love how the reporter neglected to mention "White Houses". :p Vanessa looks great, and I actually like it better without drums, though the piano could have been a little louder. Does Vanessa always prefer to use Yamahas?

Does anyone know what she said before playing all is well?

She said some people were kind of upset with her for not putting it on the album, so maybe it will be on the next one. (I don't know if she really meant that, or if it was one of her "too much Red Bull" tangents, and oh shit they're only an arm's reach away type of self-defense comment).

My Best was AMAZING live, the intro was different from the album, which gave it a much fuller sound. Sky's violin was a great touch, too.

Hmmm... what else... I'm new here, so I don't know what you guys actually want to hear, or what would just be boring to know. She said the same things before FLM that she always does, and before The One said that part of the reason she decided to kick off the tour in Scottsdale was because Stevie's from around here... and I was sure Stevie Nicks was going to pop out right then, but she didn't. :( I enjoyed hearing Vanessa by herself on the song, though. I had asked the security guard before the song whether Stevie was going to make a surprise appearance, and he said that she's done that in the past, so I though she would definitely come for V! Anyway, enough on that.

Vanessa was hilarious like always. I went with a friend who didn't know who Vanessa Carlton was, and even she was like, wow, this chick's pretty cool. I really, really liked Graham Colton. I wanted to meet him, but he was on the "over-21" side of the barricade, and I didn't know how to cross it. He's iTunes free download of the week, check him out if you haven't already!

What else? She kept starting FLM and stopping and starting it again, so finally she said, hey I'm going to be really personal with you guys, so I thought for a second - wait, is she actually going to say this song has to do with Stephan or a breakup? But then she said, you know, I just really have to burp, and I keep trying not to because it's rude to burp into a microphone, but I ate all these vegetables before coming and I can't help it! Or something like that.

Anyway, I'm sorry, I don't know how much detail y'all like, but it was a lot of fun. I met Vanessa after the show as well (my friend was furious that I wanted to wait so long; I need to start going to concerts by myself or with fans), and she was really sweet, though I forgot everything I wanted to ask her in the blur that was a freezing AZ night with V's crazy red skirt. Talked to Sky for a while, too, and he kept telling me I should go back to playing piano and cello. He's adorable. I had a dream last night that he turned into Ron Fair. WTF?

Just got back. I liked the venue - really nice and intimate. I forgot to bring my camera... and album for her to sign, or I would have recorded "All Is Well" at the very least. Would have liked to have heard More Than This and Come Undone, still a great night. She's so awesome, and the concert was so awesome, and I'm reeling on the general awesomeness that is Vanessa Carlton. Yeah, so. What everyone else said. :)

It's "elegant riposte"

riposte -- A quick and effective reply by word or act (http://dictionary.reference.com/wordoftheday/archive/2001/07/12.html)

The lyric is meant to show the dual nature of the author -- a sycophantic courtier is an attendant who always agrees with the one being attended to -- a sycophantic courtier would never have an elegant riposte.

It's the same as the previous line -- contrasting special lover sometimes with only touch a ghost.

Someone should tell that to whoever wrote the lyrics page on her site... :) "Sycophantic courtier with an elegant riposte" sounds like a Stephan lyric to me.
