sorry for the delay in writing this.we were going to california on vacation on the 24th,and flying out of atlanta,so we decided to go a day early so we could stay overnight and catch this show before we left.
we got to atlanta around 2 pm and we found a hotel a couple exits over from where the venue was.we drove over around 3:30 and found no one waiting there yet so i bought our tickets and the box office.i asked the girl how many tickets had been sold for the show and she said around 500.i figured we had time to walk over a few blocks to a big outdoor mall to have dinner before people started arriving.
we got back to the venue and found a guy and girl sitting on the ground outside the door.i started talking to them and found out they were both teachers in alabama, that they were on their honeymoon, and that they were making their way home and also were there to see vanessa.i asked if he posted here on the boards and he said that he did.
as we waited we saw vanessa's tour bus parked aross the street on the side road away from the entrance where we were waiting.before long we saw vanessa walk from up the street carrying a couple of bags with her.i guess she decided to do a little shopping while she was in town.she opened to side compartment to put her stuff away and went onto the bus.
not long after she got off the and started walking towards the venue.i left the line and wanted to cut her off at the pass so i could say hi.i just missed her because she was walking real fast and walked down into the parking garage below the venue just as i got to her.i didn't want to seem stalkerish and follow her down there so i just let her go.
the doors opened just after 7 and we made our way right to the stage where vanessa's piano was set up.alexa wilkinson was on first, who i knew before i went and was really looking forward to seeing as well.she did not disappoint playing 4 songs from her cd and ending with a beautiful redition of the classic "moon river"heres the link to that:

the venue was very intimate and had great sound and a wonderful atmosphere.the crowd was amazing!they were respectful of the artist during an acoustic show and stayed quiet while they performed their songs.waiting until the last note before errupting into cheers.after a shoert break vanessa came out wearing a beautiful purple dress.she looked and sounded amazing.most people opted to sit in the seats so there were only like 50 people on the floor during their sets.
i recorded all the songs on video so i didn't get many pics of her.i had to stop recording between songs to save space on the memory card so all that is missing is some chatter.also i ran out of memory during "half a week before the winter" so i only got like the first minute and a half of that song.i'm so pissed too cause it was an amzing version and my favorite song of the night.
i also missed the beginning of "a thousand miles" but it didn't matter because she messed it up and stated it again right as i started recording again.a great moment at the end of the show which i don't know if it was recorded was when vanessa thanked josh radin for taking her out on tour with him.a guy on the floor behind me shouted "we're here to see you!" which brought a wide smile to vanessa's face.
before the last song vanessa said "i'll be up at the merch booth after the show giving tatooes to whoever wants one".so after she was over we walked up there and waited for her to come up.there were only like 15 or 20 people there to meet her so we had a good 5 minutes or so to talk with her.i had brought my cd jacket for "heroes and thieves" for her to sign.
we told her how we had come a day early just to see her and she thanked us and gave us a hug and said it was so sweet of us to be there.we talked about new york and where she was from and where she was heading after the show.we were really lucky to have that much time to talk to her.i asked her to pose for a picture with us which she most graciously did.my wife and stood next to her but then my wife said for her to get in the middle to which vanessa replied "oh ok,like a sandwich" and we all laughed.thanks you so much vanessa for a memorable night of music.we love you girl!
