Fortunately I was 18 during the BnN days, so I've been to some good shows.  Keep your chins up you young whippersnappers and your time will come.  Totally worth the wait.

Thanks! :)

my advice is that when you are old enough, don't be afraid to go by yourself.  I've been doing a lot of traveling lately to see vanessa and I've been going by myself.  I missed a lot of concerts (not necessarily vanessa) in the past because I didn't want to go by myself. These days I realize that there are lots of people to meet and things to discover on your own!  I have lots of fun!

Good point. :)

i was 15 during the H&T era, and harmonium was my favorite album ever at that time (still ranks up there). i remember haunting these boards all the time being terribly disappointed that i had been too young for harmonium-era shows. i'd also felt/still feel disappointed that i missed v's time of more frequent and consistent shows. so i feel ya.

Ahh, thanks. Yep, still trolling these boards, waiting until I can finally go to a show, haha. :)

Vanessa Songs / Lyrics / Sheet Music / Re: New Album...expectations?

I have no expectations for this album; I think that's the best way to approach it. The songs she's played so far are gorgeous, however, and it'll be interesting to see how well they translate in the studio. Since she's working with Steve again, I'm sure they'll be great.

I agree! I'm sure it'll be great and I'm glad she'll be working with Steve again. And I also think the teasers have been gorgeous!

i think she'll continue to do acoustic sets.  I think it will sound more like htb and the patience song she posted a clip of.  I did not like the lights album, so i really hope it's not like that. my opinion.

I think I hope that it will be in the direction/vein of HtB, Patience, and the other teaser. I think that direction would be really cool to explore and listen to. I think my worry mainly lies in the fact that, since I'm young and have yet to see her live, I really hope that when I do the setlist will be pretty extensive and will include previous albums and acoustics, regardless of what the new album (tentatively titled Euphoria, I think?) moves towards. So basically, I'm sure I'll love the new album, wherever it goes, I just hope that when she tours for it the setlist is broad.

This is indeed album number 5! She announced it a few months back. Here is the thread with all we know so far:
http://forum.nessaholics.com/index.php?topic=13434.0

It is yet to be seen if this is purely a V project or an expansion on the electronic side project she said she began plotting with Steve the last time she was at Real World, when she mentioned "Moneymaker". Whether "Euphoria" is the name of the album or the project isn't clear, but i'm confident this will be a Vanessa Carlton album.
She mentioned a year ago a new song about a ghost in a lighthouse or something? And then tweeted about "a song idea like a cinema". Then recently she has given teases of new songs "Patience" and "Take it Easy", and mentioned that she has been quite in a productive space with her songwriting.
That pretty much brings us all up to speed!

Does anyone have links for the teasers?

Here's Patience: http://soundcloud.com/vanessa-carlton/vanessa-carlton-patience
Look for Take It Easy around here. It's up for download. ;)

Thanks a lot! :)

So since we're 90% sure Vanessa's next album will be dance-ish pop (I can't find the link to the article rn), do you think when she tours for it that she'll also play acoustic? Just thinking thinky-thoughts.

Completely Off-Topic / If only I were older: anyone else feel this way?
« on: August 11, 2012, 02:27:40 pm »
Since I'm a really young Nessaholic, if only I were older, I could have at LEAST gone to the Harmonium tour as a child, and then been old enough get MYSELF to Heroes & Thieves and RotR. Are there any other younger Nessaholics out there that feel this way? I'm pretty upset that I couldn't go to RotR, either. Like, it's been a while and it STILL kills me. I'm fifteen. Hit me up if you're young and want to talk about feels! <3

Holy cr*p. You can sing really well, and you're harmonizing with her so well, and are you playing that? Are you seriously playing "Bright Lights and Cityscapes"? BE MY BEST FRIEND. (Jkids, I'm not that creepy, but seriously. Awesome.)
