Creative Endeavors / Poetry, anyone?
« on: January 29, 2014, 03:28:54 am »
Not sure if anyone is interested, but I love to write. Poetry, especially.

I post a good deal of it on my Tumblr page. You can find it here:

If you do happen to read anything, I'd love to know your thoughts, feelings, and suggestions. It only helps me improve in my endeavors of becoming a writer.

Some of my favorite writers include Sylvia Plath, Charles Bukowski, Ray Bradbury, and Vanessa Carlton herself. You'll see that I like to channel a bit of them in my poems. Anyway, thank you for taking a look at this!

My interpretation of the Take It Easy. For the more recent version, we had most of the lyrics in common (Kulpdogg). I bolded a couple of differences that I noted. Take a gander:

I'm old enough to know
Too young to let it go
Connected to a million stars and lights

I know you had to go
Do we follow what we know?
I'll be here for you in the night

Say it once, say it twice
To yourself, to the night
Shaman's prayer, it's natural
When it's quiet it gets slow
And as your castle crumbles down, and it will
Take it easy, take easy

And are you waiting all the time
For somebody that you like?
Have you ever broken your own heart?

Say it once, say it twice
To yourself, to the night
Shaman's prayer, it's natural
When it's quiet it gets slow
And as your castle crumbles down, and it will
Take it easy, take easy

As heaven wraps around you
And she will
Take it easy
Take it in
Easy

Say it once, say it twice
To yourself, to the night
Shaman's prayer, it's natural
When it's quiet it gets slow
And as your castle crumbles down, and it will
Take it easy, take easy

As heaven wraps around you
And she will
Take it easy
Take it in
Take it easy
Take it in
Easy

Just my thoughts of the lyrics. I would love to hear your thoughts:

Give her all your darkness
Give her all your light
Love is like a carriage
It's no spirit in the night

Like a wishing well
Where your pennies fell

He said it's only a matter of time
Before your heart is mine
Have you been searching?
You've been looking the world over

When is it time to let go?
And is it then that you know?
All the peace that we've been bringing out of each other
Out of each other

Flowing like a circuit
Through a curse of neon signs

Writing her a letter
It's the curve of your desire
When the cycle starts its run
And we become what we become

He said it's only a matter of time
Before your heart is mine
Have you been searching?
You've been looking the world over

When is it time to let go?
And is it then that you know?
All the peace that we've been bringing out of each other
Out of each other

When is it time to let go?
And is it then that you know?
All the peace that we've been bringing out of each other
Out of each other

Give her all your darkness
Give her all your light
Love is like a carriage
It's no spirit in the night

When analyzing this, I took into consideration that this song is lyrically very nature-based, helping me with deciphering the lyrics. With regard to the second verse, though, she mentions the symbol of life (a baby). And with life, comes death. Which ultimately brought me to the darker lyric of "the destine's a hearse." Because the devil (symbol of corruptness or an omen) is prominent, I think that the 'ritual' which Vanessa refers to, is to rid of the detrimental things in her life. To free herself from it all. Then in a way, she is suggesting that her deus ex machina is in the form of a man, admitting she is "lucky to find [him];" almost as if he may have been one of the things which "pulled her away from the devil." Okay, anyway, that was long-winded. Sorry! Here's what I found for lyrics! Enjoy:

Find a love, go build a cabin
Find land in a tree, carving a wish on your knees,
Plant seeds, the dirt's making a rose where the devil don't see

Love, I agree, so lucky to find ya
Our memories, they don't stay behind us
Our minds our strong,
But could it be enough to bring strength to the bone?

Our weeping willow (that's) hanging above me
Am I back in the sun, would it fall upon me?
I won't let you down, and man you will keep safe my love.

Sew the Earth, a blanket, a bounty
In the destine's a hearse
The devil drives empty
In a baby's eyes, the ritual purifies every desire

Our weeping willow (that's) hanging above me
Am I back in the sun, would it fall upon me?
I won't let you don't, and man you will keep safe my love
Man you will keep safe my love
Man you will keep safe my love

The arm of the willow that's hanging above me
Am I back in the sun, would it fall upon me?
I won't let you don't, and man you will keep safe
Let you down, and man you will keep safe
Let you down, and man you will keep safe
Let you down, and man you will keep safe my love
Safe my love, safe my love..
Safe my love.

Vanessa Songs / Lyrics / Sheet Music / Re: Unlock the Lock
« on: January 29, 2014, 01:52:05 am »
I found this very interesting, though, I did find different lyrics upon listening. Do let me know what you think:

Feel it come on like a sudden hope
Bursting through the hall of stone
It's beautiful as the sadness starts to quiet.

Leave the city for the desert sky
It's like one big eye on you
The storm is now and the horses wanna run,
And they run.

You know what you should do
You choose not to go
The key hangs low 'round your neck
I know what you know.

Unlock the lock (x3)

__ things but it doesn't matter
Like a pact you remember once
Something's coming in on you and it's pure
Is it love?

You know what you should do
You choose not to go
Key hangs low 'round your neck
I know what you know

Unlock the lock (x3)
Unlock the lock (x3)

Feel it come on like a sudden hope
Bursting through the hall of stone
It's beautiful as the sadness starts to quiet
It is love,
Is it love.
