Live Shows / Atlanta show - Feb 9 - Terminal West - Extra ticket
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:34:41 am »
My date won't be able to attend the show here in Atlanta. So if anyone would like the ticket, I'll part with it for $20. (they are $30 otherwise)

Can meet at the venue for the transfer, as I'll be getting both via Will Call.

Email me at danielrouk13@gmail.com if interested. I might not see your message here.

Can't wait for the show!!! My 3rd time seeing V.

so glad someone else made it who could appreciate more than just A thousand Miles because she is so much more than that one song!  It was funny, I was hanging around with two of the girls I met and this boy walked by singing ATM and he said, "OH I know every word to that song!"  The girls and I just looked at each other and laughed, I said, that's probably the only song he knows! Oh well, at least people appreciate her at all.

I find it funny, because honestly ATM is probably the song I like least of Vanessa's.  Perhaps it was just too overplayed when it came out, but I really didn't become a fan until her next single, and find her 2nd and 3rd albums so much better than the first as well.  But with a crowd like that, they would probably get upset if she left the stage without playing.

It was certainly an interesting audience though... I was kinda surprised that a steady stream of folks thought the show was all over when she left the stage the first time and didn't even think there might be an encore.  If not for the fact that it finally gave me a decent view I might have said something to stop them.  hehe.

I'm very happy someone got some video though.  Security told me to put my camera up and wouldn't let me take it in.  They wouldn't let someone in line near me go in with their smart phone either.  But despite actual pat-down searches at the door (a first for any concert for me - they hiring TSA agents?  *lol*) I still saw a number of phones and video's being made.

But as I said before, despite the venue and younger inexperienced crowd, it was a great show.  Vanessa was obviously rusty (and said so) but still sounds as great live as she does in recording.  She's one of the few artists who can make that claim in my experience.

Great concert tonight.  Drove up from Atlanta and definitely enjoyed the music.  The venue was a bit lacking... my wife had sprained her foot and we had to sit to the back and side and couldn't see but the top of V's head.  But the sound was great and well worth the trip.

The crowd was definitely one who wanted A Thousand Miles more than anything else, but this was the first time I'd heard many of the 4th album songs and fell in love with them instantly.

Vanessa messed up a few times, but I expected that.  She did it last time I'd seen her at Old Smith's Bar a few years ago too.  It makes her concerts unique and special.  And truthfully if she hadn't stopped playing to fix her own errors nobody would probably have realized she'd played badly.

I can't wait for the new album to be released.  It is going to be fantastic.

Vanessa is a pretty solid Democrat.  She's campaigned for several dems and even attended the national conventions.

throw a sign at her?  Yup, thats a compassionate conservative.  *lol*

What was the excuse she gave? I can't listen to it...

Half the screen on her notebook is melting away.

Not being a big computer person, I guess she just hasn't made it a priority to fix the sucker.  She said she would prefer to write hand written notes, but obviously thats problematic getting them to fans via the internet.

My opinion is that Vanessa just wasn't all that comfortable with the interview.  She seemed figitty throughout, with lots of pauses as she picked at her words and twiddled her fingers.

Absolutely fabulous.

Vanessa looked great and the camera's really did a good job getting up close and personal.

Just wish it were a longer show with more songs!

I NEED to go to the one in Atlanta!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See you there.  ;)

Just disappointed that Vanessa isn't the headliner though but gets 2nd billing.  :(

Vanessa definitely isn't playing what's popular right now, or every album she has would be a best seller.   She hit the popular note on her first album, but since then has been going against the grain.  So I don't see that as a valid argument.

I love Vanessa's music, and her strength in my opinion is her songwriting and piano.

If I had to critique her however, I'd say her voice however is probably the part I'd most want improved, as it just seems to be lacking just a little something in many of her songs, not certain what.

Or perhaps I'm just used to the over synthesized recordings of other artists today, who rerecord their own voices over themselves to give the vocals more power.  Don't know.  One can just feel a difference in power listening to Vanessa singing versus someone like Kelly Clarkson.

Not that I'm trying to slam Vanessa or anything, just noting my observations.  Again, I love her music.

Unless I'm mistaken, thats Jamie Lynn Sigler (formerly DiScala) of Soprano's television fame pictured with Vanessa.

Polls / Would you be on a reality tv show?
« on: May 28, 2007, 05:15:05 am »
I'd gladly go on a reality show that was more of a competitive game show, such Amazing Race or Treasure Hunters where the decision on if you stay or go is based on your own skill and not the votes of others.

Polls / Would you date Vanessa Carlton?
« on: May 27, 2007, 10:08:37 pm »
I would say yes but I don't think Vanessa would like to date a fan.

Funny how male rockers have reputations for sleeping with all the groupies, but female singers are treated differently.

Of course there is a difference between bagging the locals and having a relationship with such a person who thinks of you as a rock goddess.

As for me, I could certainly go out with her.  She's a talented musician which is fun, but still a woman with lots of interests who I could certainly talk to all night.  So no more "yes" answers to this poll, as she's now taken.  ;-)

Polls / Clinton or Obama?
« on: May 27, 2007, 07:59:15 pm »
Ugh, neither.

Obama is not even a full 1 term senator yet.  I find he's totally unqualified for the job of President.  Perhaps as VP maybe.

Hillary is far too experienced for my tastes, and would be able to handle the job.  But I distrust her and have always felt the Clintons were liars and corrupt.

In any case, with a democratic congress, I think I'd prefer a republican president.  Our country can no longer afford to have a bunch of yes men getting every piece of legislation they want passed.  We need some veto power out there.

I was prefering Rudy, because he's a social liberal who is pro-choice, pro-gay rights.  But his comments lately don't make me support him as much.

McCain got my vote in 2004, but he moved much further toward Bush since then.  He's generally a conservative, but he at least knows the score when it comes to torture and war, and that a plus at this time.

This may be the year for a 3rd party vote, but who will step forward and prove they can win it?

Right now its all just a choice between bad and worse.  I see no candidate I have full confidence in.

where her head is placed above the S of the magazine title.  You can see a bit of white where its obviously overlayed.

Other than that, perfect!

and that he did not want to f*** her. It's funny how ppl still think that.

Is he gay or something?  Every red blooded male I know wants to do her.  ;)

But of course the real deal is that he didn't just sign her to get into her pants.  But thats a totally separate question from WANTING to.  *grin*
