Other Musicians / Joe Purdy

I don't know if any of you know him, but he's an amazing singer/songwriter, definitely worth checking out. He's really quiet and mellow, though a bit Bob Dylanesque sometimes.

He's released a whole bunch of albums already, though most of them independently I think. Some of his music's been used in shows like Grey's Anatomy (I think he might even be on the GA soundtrack) and Lost.



If you're curious, try downloading The City, I Love The Rain The Most, Suitcase, Come Back Down Joe, Surgery, Meteor City... he has tons of good stuff.

So... news is,

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!! I'M GOING TO GERMANY!!!


 Some of you already know about this and have been following the process on my LJ but it hasn't been final til today. I only found out for sure this morning. I'm leaving tomorrow and will be spending the next year (until July) as an exchange student in Würzburg, Bavaria, which is

a) really small
b) full of students
c) too far from any piece of water you can call sea
d) too cold for me to survive one whole winter

Plus in case anyone's wondering, no. I don't speak German. Which is the main reason this is a huge adventure for me. I'm nervous, and really scared but still incredibly excited!

I don't know how often I'll be able to come round here from now on, given that I'm not taking a laptop with me for now (doubt it'll make much difference since I've been pretty much absent for a while now) and will mostly rely on uni comps. I'm going to miss it though, lurking around here. I shall be back as soon as I'm settled. So, til next time it is Wish me luck!

I just checked and I can't believe there isn't a thread for this! (I don't think I've missed it... but correct me if I'm wrong)

It's the TV show that has marked me the most by far. Maybe not the one I always enjoyed most, but it's def had the most influence in me.

Plus, I wanted to show off this banner I made for someone at LJ

Anybody watching? I've been watching a few matches these days - Moyá killed by Federer yesterday, same thing with Ferrero and Safin, and I watched a bit of Nadal against Grosjean, but that got cancelled cos of the rain and I'm not too sure what time it's back on.

I guess Federer will end up winning. As much as I hate him, he's brilliant, he gets absolutely everything right, and this is the only Grand Slam he's missing... reason enough for him to be the winner, right?  :?  Wish it was Nadal though, but yesterday he wasn't playing too well, I doubt he'll be able to go through to the semi finals even.

Completely Off-Topic / Car Bomb Near Bilbao

Here

I was home this afternoon when the bomb exploded. It's barely 5 min from my house so I even heard the loud "boom" and immediately thought it must be a bomb. Turns out the street where the car bomb exploded had been attacked before. I have close friends who live in that street, who've had their houses damaged both times car bombs have been put there. The whole area surrounding that street is full of friends of mine and my family and people I know. This makes me so angry

Polls / Favourite TV Couple

Do you have one? Who are they? And why? It doesn't have to be a romantic couple, it can be a couple of friends or whatever. Mine would be:

Dawson and Joey (Dawson's Creek)

I know many people who watched DC ended up hating Dawson (or did from the beginning) and became P/Jers... traitors! Nah, j/k. This was possibly the first couple I absolutely loved on TV cos it all goes back to 1998 when I first watched Dawson's Creek. Even if they didn't end up together (*cough*HUGE mistake*cough*) they'll always be one of my favourites. They've had some of the most powerful moments I have seen on TV - and I haven't even seen them all!

Ross and Rachel (Friends)

Because they're lobsters and lobsters mate for life!  :wink:  Them ending up together sort of makes up for the disappointment that was the way Dawson's Creek ended. I haven't watched the last episodes of Season 10 yet though

Lately I've also discovered  Seth & Summer (The OC) and Ephram and Amy (Everwood), even though I don't get to see Everwood as much as I'd like to - they treat the show very badly here and randomly stop airing it only to air 3 episodes in a row the next week  :?

The final round begins tomorrow in Seville, with the first of 5 matches between the Spanish and American teams. Matches will go on from tomorrow til Dec 5th

Opening match will be Carlos Moyá against Mardy Fish tomorrow at noon (Spanish time), which would be 6 am East Coast time in the US.

The biggest surprise is the election of 18-year-old Rafa Nadal as the second singles participant for Spain (behind Moyá) instead of Juan Carlos Ferrero.

I honestly think Spain isn't going to win, as much as I hate to admit it. No Spanish player out of the 4 in the team has had an extraordinary season, unlike Roddick, for instance.

Anyone planning on watching?
