General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa's Wedding Ceremony?
« on: December 27, 2013, 07:48:57 pm »
Vanessa's officially married. Stevie Nicks officiated the ceremony. :)

Looks like the ceremony was in AZ.

I've been meaning to start this thread for a while and I've finally gotten around to it. I search Vanessa's name on Twitter sometimes to check for updates/see what people are saying about her. Some posts I find highly amusing, most are sweet, and others infuriating. Just wanted to share some and see what you guys think.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa Carlton on Reveille TV

I found this on Twitter:

Thx to the beautiful, talented @VanessaCarlton for performing at lunch today! 'Rabbits on the Run' ROCKS!!

@darylberg Daryl Berg
Hey music folk: @VanessaCarlton will be performing as part of our Brown Bag Session lunchtime music series @ReveilleTV. Wanna come?

Still trying to find more information on this event...

With “A Thousand Miles’’ and its licensing fees likely paying her bills ever since she was too young to drink in the piano bars she used to play, Vanessa Carlton can afford to take her sweet time between albums. Her progress as a recording artist has often seemed slow as a result, but “Rabbits on the Run,’’ her fourth full-length album and first since 2007, sees her finally moving away from the shiny pop production and lit-mag smartypantsery that marked her previous work. Carlton’s piano playing finds a comfortable pocket, and there’s refreshingly little of the overworked poesy that was once her calling card. Free of the need to prove what a clever young woman she is, she’s finally within reach of the warm adult pop she’s always aspired to, especially on the soothing embrace of “Get Good.’’ Unfortunately, it turns out that those now-shelved annoyances provided Carlton with an identity; forging ahead without them, the singer slips into semi-orchestral tedium (“London,’’ “Fairweather Friend’’) and self-conscious haziness (“Hear the Bells,’’ “In the End’’). Carlton’s wheels are finally spinning forward, but they don’t gain much traction. (Out tomorrow)

ESSENTIAL: “Get Good’’

"It's been four years since Vanessa's last album, and it's clear that the 30-year-old pop singer has matured musically. She may have started out as a piano-playing phenom with her 2002 debut single, "A Thousand Miles," but on Rabbits on the Run, her songwriting skills have caught up with her musical talent.

OFF AND RUNNING: The disc starts off strong, with Vanessa's signature soulful sound on the catchy "Carousel" and the melodically defiant and personal "I Don't Want to Be a Bride," where she sings, "You can take me on a cheap vacation/I don't want to have expectations." Her slower ballads, "Fairweather Friend" and "London," feel a bit flat, but she comes back strong with the beat-heavy and faster-paced "Tall Tales for Spring."

The entire album is available for listening on Spotify. I find that kind of odd, considering it's not supposed to be out yet...

From Twitter:

@rbrockington: This Just In @VanessaCarlton is joining me on @martharadio #LivingToday on 6/19 yapping on her new CD, vintage shopping & her dog Victor!
The show airs from 1PM to 4PM. Not sure when exactly Vanessa's interview will be.

EDIT: You can sign up for a free 7-day trial here: - I would recommend signing up a day or two before Vanessa's interview. I haven't signed up yet so I'm not entirely sure of how it works.
