Completely Off-Topic / Anybody fluent in French around here?

Is anybody fluent or at least conversant with French? I'm doing IB French B SL and would really love some practice with my French by somebody who would actually want to and be competent enough too.

I would say that I'm at about a conversant level (it would be possible for me to type this entire message in French, albeit some errors). However, improvement is always good. Who knows, perhaps I can even work my way up to maintaining my 5 or even improving to a 6 or a 7? :D

I'm sure that with a forum as diverse as this one, I'll be able to find somebody who is good at the language. :)

(Now I really hope that doesn't sound like a LavaLife Ad or something... hehe.)

This is me and my friend doing Hands On Me. Yes, I know we're barely together and I go out of tune all of the time, and the keyboard had no pedal so the piano part sounds pretty disconnected and emotionless, but I think it's on the borderline of okay?...

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Her Piano?

Does anybody know which type of piano Vanessa seems to use the most? In her music videos, I know that a couple of them don't actually work, and I've seen her on a Yamaha a couple of times... but I'm still curious to know. ;)

Completely Off-Topic / Piano Help: Kawai or Boston?

I know there a lot of piano people around here, so I could use some help...

I'm purchasing a new piano soon, and I am in dispute over which piano to purchase: a Boston or a Kawai. I've played both, and I find that a Boston sounds better than a Kawai, but the Kawai I played at my piano teacher's house is rather old. However, Kawai's been in business for a lot longer time than the Boston has, but then again Boston is from Steinway and Sons. My mother is kind of persistent on getting a Kawai because it's better, the sound isn't as loud, it's cheaper, and Kawai manufactured it anyway but I like the Boston better because playing it is a lot more enjoyable, and there's always the old it-comes-from-Steinway bias factor.

Hi! I'm... just Simply Ordinary, haha. I think Vanessa Carlton has some exciting songs and being a pianist myself, her songs are not technically difficult but are nice warm-ups. :P I've been playing piano since age of 6 and am currently in RCM Level 10. If you're not Canadian you probably won't understand it, but that's okay.

This place looks exciting I guess.
