Creative Endeavors / afternoons
« on: July 09, 2004, 04:09:53 pm »
there's a little bit of me still wedged
in between your walls, the seats of your car
reminders of those afternoons with our sunglasses
and lazy naps lulled by the rain

but let it stream by you
this passage of time is not as easy to grasp
as the picture frames that we left behind
and everybody knows what this feels like
this is freedom, this is hard, this is nothing we'd want to do again

and i admit that there's still a bit of you
an ounce of you in my mind
when i play the counting crows and when i lay in bed
and when the phone rings i pretend
sometimes i pretend that you're calling me again

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Connections
« on: February 21, 2004, 08:20:25 pm »
have you ever thought of any weird vanessa connections?
here's mine-

-in the summer of 2002 (i think.. was it 2002?) vanessa carlton toured with third eye blind and the goo goo dolls.
- as the encore to many of these shows, vanessa sang "american girl" (originally by tom petty and the heartbreakers) with johnny, the lead singer of the before-mentioned goo goo dolls.
- whenever i heard people talking about this duet encore (this was before "big yellow taxi"), i immediately thought they were talking about the rocking counting crows' song, "american girls"
- lo and behold, "big yellow taxi" was released shortly after, a duet between vanessa carlton and the counting crows.  she also recently performed in a san francisco concert with the counting crows.

strange coincidence? perhaps.  reading a bit far into this connection? perhaps.

but hey, i thought it was cool.

Other Musicians / Billy Joel
« on: October 29, 2003, 07:54:13 pm »
Billy Joel is one of my favorite artists of all time. not only is he an amazing lyricist, he also plays a mean piano and composes brilliantly.  i have enjoyed his music since i was about two years old.

My favorite songs by billy are "only the good die young", "and so it goes", "river of dreams" and "lullaby".  if you are interested, i advise you to dl these songs.

his music is classic.

i had the opportunity of seeing elton john and billy joel in hartford on feb 9th, 2001.  it was the most amazing concert of my life.    :D  i actually started crying when billy came on stage. it was a once in a lifetime experience!

check out billy joel if you want some truly amazing music...

and he's hott too, even though he's old ;-)
