« on: March 03, 2019, 12:07:01 am »
I'm lying in ma bed and thought of my youth and the board came to my mind. I used to be a huge vanessa fan. I had a website in Polish. This board meant a lot to me. I got to know and learn English here. That is So awesome that it is still online. Nów as social media is the first place it is no Wonder that not a lot of people visit here. But it's been a pleasure to be a part of the board. I think Vanessa visited the place back then. Kisses

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / how is it with H&T?
« on: December 09, 2007, 03:28:26 am »
how is the new album doing? does it sell good? I have been living in the village without connection to the internet and without music shops for 6 months so I know nothing at all. Even though it seems that the album is not promoted, at least in Europe.I got my copy of H&T in Scotland and I was pissed off because the album is not on top shelves. It's a brand new album and there wewre only 2 copies under V's name. I got one of the copy. It's not fair I think that album has got more chances of being successful. they don't play the music though.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / short article
« on: February 28, 2006, 02:40:50 pm »
short article. probably sth everybody knows... and probably everybody is able to tell what's wrong in it...

Quote
Vanessa Carlton is in the midst of mastering her new album. Due sometime this year, the as-yet-untitled set was produced by Linda Perry, Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins and a number of "departure producers," according to a spokesperson. Some tracks that Carlton co-wrote with Perry will be appearing on the album as well.

The artist worked with both Jenkins (whom she is dating) and Perry on her 2004 A&M album, "Harmonium," which peaked at No. 33 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 179,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Carlton is in the midst of a tour of Australia and New Zealand with Stevie Nicks, which runs through March 7 in Christchurch.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Our Top 25 25-Year-Olds!
« on: December 24, 2005, 06:38:42 pm »
October 12, 2005

Twenty-five never looked so good! As ET celebrates its 25th anniversary this season, we've assembled the top 25 25-year-old stars to give their perspective on life in young Hollywood. Starting off the list, from 25 to 17, are JORDANA BREWSTER, VANESSA CARLTON, JASON SCHWARTZMAN, LAURA PREPON, CHRIS MASTERSON, KRISTEN BELL, JASON RITTER, RYAN GOSLING and GISELE BUNDCHEN.

"I think 25 is a great year; I think every year is a great year," says Victoria's Secret model and actress Gisele, LEONARDO DiCAPRIO's main squeeze. "I feel like life is so special and so great, every year I feel like I learn more, and I grow, and I think it's exciting to grow up. Twenty-five is so far, so good."

"It feels weird," Jordana tells ET. "It's a strange age, but at the same time it's great; you're a quarter of a century old, so in those terms it's a little daunting."

Jordana's career hit the fast lane when she landed a role in the first 'Fast and the Furious' movie, and she didn't even have a driver's license when she filmed it! She also squeezed her scenes in between classes at Yale. "I was really fortunate that I started working when I was 15, so I got to go to college and mix in movies," she says.

Jordana, who also starred in such films as 'The Faculty' and 'D.E.B.S.,' will next star in the military academy drama 'Annapolis,' co-starring JAMES FRANCO and TYRESE GIBSON. And another 25 years from now? "Hopefully I'm producing really huge, mega blockbusters for girls, and giving them a great example," says Jordana, adding, "Hopefully by that time I'll have a couple of kids and a nice husband and a couple of dogs. But that's not in my scope right now. Not yet."

BLONDIE and QUEEN were topping the charts the year chanteuse Vanessa Carlton was born, but with her third album dropping next year, it's Vanessa's time now. "I think my greatest accomplishment has been being able to merge what I love to do with my job, and be able to support myself with my songs, and that had always been my goal when I grow up," Vanessa tells ET. "I've appreciated all of it because I come from the ballet world; I was trained to be a dancer, and nothing is as hard as that, so when it's easy or it's fun I really can value that."

'Rushmore' and 'I Heart Huckabees' guy Jason Schwartzman is looking way beyond 25. He told us, "I want to be on the list for most influential 50-year-olds on ET's 50th birthday." And born in March of 1980, "That '70s Show" star Laura Prepon missed the actual '70s only by three months, but she's still groovy enough to make our list. "I actually like it," she says about her age. "You feel like a grown-up, but I've felt like a grown-up since I was 17, so I don't know ... But, I like it."

Finally, Laura's live-in boyfriend, "Malcolm in the Middle" star Chris Masterson, is No. 21 on our list. Chris got started early, starring in his first film, "Hiroshima Maiden," at just seven years old. "A lot of the kids that have been in the entertainment industry have been working in this field, like, for 20 years already, so they are comparable to, like, a 40-year-old thinking about retiring."

But Chris is nowhere near retiring yet. In fact, he's currently branching out as a successful restauranteur. "This year we are going to try and open a Geisha House and a Dolce in Las Vegas," he says, "and we are going to try and bring them to Miami, but we have three in L.A. and it's been going really well so far."

And what lies in the future for Chris? "I think my goal would be to still be working," says Chris, "doing everything I like 25 years from now, but sort of be in charge of all of it."

Watch "ET on MTV" for a lot more top 25 25-year-olds!

Anatomy of a pop star

Sultry songbird Vanessa Carlton hopes to go distance in marathon

By CHRISTIAN RED
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

There are 35,000 runners in the New York City Marathon and at least one of them will have three Grammy nominations, millions of albums sold, a slick Manhattan loft and a loyal following. And no, it's not P. Diddy reprising his 2003 role when the rap and fashion mogul completed 26.2 miles in just over four hours (4:14:54) and raised millions for charity — mohawk and all.
Today, pop star Vanessa Carlton will trade the piano ivories for running sneakers and is on pace to crush Diddy's time. She'll also raise money for the charity "Musicians on Call," which brings musical artists to cancer patients confined to their beds. Between long training runs, lifting weights and making media appearances, Carlton toured all summer and spring to promote her second album, "Harmonium."

Here's a peek inside her road to the marathon:

THE BEGINNING

In 1999, Carlton could barely run a half-mile. A former ballet dancer and graduate of New York's prestigious School of American Ballet, the then 19-year-old Milford, Pa. native decided to get back into shape by hitting the pavement. awas home. I jogged to the end of the street, about 300 feet, and said, 'I can't do this.' I was coughing, it was terrible," she says."Our dog Maggie was with me and gave me this look like, 'What's going on? I'm ready to go.'"

THE NIGHT JOB

Carlton's was no typical summer. How many marathon runners can claim they ran 10 miles during the day and performed alongside Stevie Nicks at night? It just so happens that the year she decided to run the marathon, Carlton was already busy promoting "Harmonium," the sophomore effort that followed her triple-platinum debut record, "Be Not Nobody."

Carlton's solo tour kicked off in March and stretched until May before she hit the road again in June, this time with the legendary Fleetwood Mac band member for a 22-city odyssey.

Through the blur of plane trips and hotel rooms, Carlton adhered to a strict weekly training schedule and diet. That meant no late nights. No alcohol. No junk food.

"The peer pressure in her industry is intense," says Michael Gostigian, who has trained other celebrity actors and musicians. "They usually smoke, drink and stay out late. Not Vanessa. She was totally focused and she doesn't have any kind of prima donna attitude. That's rare, believe me."

THE TRAINING

Carlton is not just hoping to finish New York's signature road race. She wants to run a sub-four-hour time, something her personal trainer and former Olympian Michael Gostigian thinks is a slam dunk. "She's done everything according to plan and she's on track to do 3:47," says Gostigian, a pentathlete in the '88, '92 and '96 Olympic Games. "She kept up with the training. She's very disciplined and she dedicates herself to taking care of her body. I'm really proud of her because she had a rough summer with all her shows." Gostigian says that Carlton averaged 35-40 miles per week ("she peaked at about 50 miles") and that her weekly New York Sports Club workouts comprised three parts: tempo runs (hills and intervals), long runs (typically 1.5-2 hour runs) and recovery jogs (30-40 minutes).

THE CHARITY

Carlton learned about Musicians on Call through a music industry friend. After performing for patients at Memorial Sloan-Kettering on the upper East Side, Carlton became deeply attached to the cause. One of the songs on her second album, titled "Annie", was inspired by her experience with MOC.

"I love the idea of marrying my love of kids with music," she says.

THE FUNNY TRAINING MOMENT

At first, Carlton had a penchant for wanting to beat everyone she encountered on her daily runs in New York. Then she met Gostigian, who quickly dismissed her strategy. "She was like a racehorse when we first started training. I told her, 'Get that out of your mind. That's the dumbest thing you can do,'" he says. Sure enough, during a practice half marathon in Central Park, Carlton bided her time while other runners sprinted out at the beginning. "Mike (Gostigian) gave me a great visual before that race. He said, 'Relax, before you know it, you'll be reeling them in like fish.' He was right!"

THE DIET

Breakfast: Oatmeal with soy milk and flax seed. Strawberries, blueberries, pomegranate. Lunch: Grilled chicken salad, energy bar. Dinner: Chicken or fish, vegetables, salad, soup. Beverages: Water, green tea. Occasional indulgence: Chicken parmigiana.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Avatars and Signatures
« on: May 31, 2005, 03:32:05 am »
I have an idea for another Sticky topic (who decides if it's sticky or not? - make this topic sticky if you like the idea )

I think most of us is trying to do some avatars and signatures ourselves. So the idea is that we'll share here our artworks so that everybody can use it on this board or another... giving credit for the person who made a graphic.

This is what I've done 2 days ago.

these avatars are too big for nessaholics board, however, you can use it on other boards... we can promote Vanessa this way.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / vanessa and moby ???
« on: February 10, 2005, 07:51:21 am »
I found 2 old news from 2002 in Polish..... it says that Vanessa was going to make the remix with Moby then to his song "Sunday (The Day Before My Birthday)" that is on his album 18. In one of the articles Vanessa said: "We're planning to do so. We just have to set our timetables. Working with Moby is challenging and it's award for me" (sth like that; my translation)
I'm wondering....have you ever heard this song...or have they ever done it ? I tried to finde out but with no results...
