General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Nessa and Stephan on Extra
« on: October 19, 2003, 01:14:42 pm »
I was killing time before last night's World Series game on and on the syndicated show, "Extra," they were doing a show about musicians dating actors/actresses and other musicians.

They had a piece on Vanessa and Stephan and talked about her working on her album and him producing it. It was really a cute piece.

It was their weekend edition and it's syndicated, so some of you might still be able to catch it.

Entertainment - Movies / TV / Books / Seven Days
« on: October 16, 2003, 01:21:37 pm »
This show only appeared for three seasons, on UPN nonetheless, but I always thought it was pretty cool.

The idea of going back in time seven days (hence the title) to undo a tragic event is pretty awesome.

Jonathan LaPaglia (as Crononaut Frank B. Parker) was a childish but likable hero. Justina Vail (Russian phycisist Olga Vukavich) created just enough tension between her character and Parker to keep things interesting. The show had a handful of other actors who provided solid, believeble (as believable as it could be given the show's premise) and qualified characters to round out the show.

Granted, some of the story lines were a bit goofy, but most of the episodes were inspired by events that were plausible.

Episode for which to look: Deja Vu All Over Again.

The show airs in repeats at 2 a.m. PDT weekdays on Spike TV.

Polls / What is currently the best legal drama on TV?
« on: August 23, 2003, 03:13:22 pm »
Personally, I like JAG because of the intermixing of military storylines in addition to the legal plots. But there are some others out there worth the votes.

Polls / Who will win the Super Bowl
« on: July 27, 2003, 03:42:58 am »
Personally, I think Tampa Bay is likely to repeat.

They still have the league's top defense anchored by a magnificant line, monterous linebackers and overachieving backfield.

The offense has only gotten better, with the team finding its niche at the end of last season, culminating with a superb performance in January's Super Bowl.

So, who do you think will win the big one this year?

Completely Off-Topic / Weekly World News headline of the week
« on: June 19, 2003, 09:57:18 am »
Sorry if this is not as funny as I describe it. After work last night I saw it and couldn't stop laughing.

There was a touching photo of on person with their head on another person's chest looking all affectionate with each other. Beside it was the following headline:

SADDAM & OSAMA IN LOVE

I thought it was funny.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Check this out
« on: June 17, 2003, 11:25:01 am »
I was listening to the soft rock dedication radio station last night and there was an interesting story. Here's the summary, followed by the dedication.

Liz, her brother, and her brother's friend, Clint, all grew up near each other and Clint spent a lot of time at Liz and her brother's house. They all were heavily into playing soccer. Clint, like Liz' brother, was two years older than her. So, the usual poking fun at the "younger sister" took place.

A few years later, Clint and Liz ended up going to the same college and, as quite a surprise (as Liz told it), they began dating, then fell in love. They've been together about two years. Clint just graduated, while Liz completed her sophomore year. And, they're still together and still in love.

Clint is leaving this week, Tuesday in fact, to play professional soccer in England and Liz knows she is going to miss him. She said she'll wait for him and honor their love.

So, she called into the radio station and requested a song for him last night ...

"A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton

I thought it was very sweet.

Polls / How Many email accounts do you have?
« on: June 13, 2003, 11:40:45 am »
Just curious. I have four.

1. The original; I still use it, but it gets a lot of spam.
2. One for professional reasons.
3. My current one I use every day.
4. A secondary one I don't use much, but it gives me Yahoo Messenger.

Polls / Why do you primarily go to the library?

Myself, it's a combination of everything. :?

My computer was stolen last week  :( , so right now, I'm spending more time online now.

I fell on the sidewalk at 5:30 this morning.

So what if the doctor didn't say I couldn't play (he might have if I would have asked him so, of course, I didn't ask him).

But my girl won't let me play.

I feel fine. Shouldn't I be able to play?

Please!  8)

Creative Endeavors / The Race
« on: June 06, 2003, 04:16:40 pm »
I'm not much of a poet, but here's my foray into it for all the Nessaholics

my whole life is a race
running all these years
I thought I could stop
but you weren't near

sometimes faster
sometimes slower
sometimes higher
sometimes lower

I slowed down once
maybe twice
or could
it have been thrice

I'm growing tired
I'm growing weary
I'm seeing the road ahead
it's getting less dreary

I won't stop
until I'm there
I can't stop
until I'm there

it's coming up
I'm nearing the end
I can almost see it
around the bend

The curve is rounded
I make it past
there is no line
alas

there is a line
I see it part
doesn't say finish
simply says start

What do you think?

Comments?

Just curious

I've met a lot of homeschooled students lately, but have not had a chance to ask them.

Thanks

Other Musicians / Jaci Velasquez
« on: May 27, 2003, 08:09:52 pm »
Jaci Velasquez has two music careers, one Christian and one latin pop.

She's just a beautiful, talented singer. Her new cd, "Unspoken," is Excellent. It's in Christian bookstores now.

And, I had the honor of seeing her perform at my church a month and a half ago. She was great!
