i've been interested in this musical for a while and was reading reviews on its webpage when i came accross a quick quote from Vanessa-

Spring Awakening is unlike anything I have seen on Broadway in a long time. It held the infectious and naughty energy of a rock show."

here is the link- http://www.springawakening.com/spring_awakening_reviews.php
scroll down a litte to the Celebrity Quotes section.

and anyone who hasn't heard the music or seen the show, DO IT!!!

The gang's all here except for Steve.  We're not sure if it's general admission yet but I hope it's not because it's going to suck standing outside in the rain.  More updates to come.

Last night the lyrical routine danced by Melody and Ryan was choreographed by Vanessa's choreographer for the White Houses video!  I forgot his name and can't find him on the show's official site, but the voice over was something like "(name of guy here) has worked with such artists as Vanessa Carlton..."

If you watch Pleased to Meet You, you can see him in the rehersal footage.

Amazing time and an amazing show.  She's still coughing a bit but her voice was right on point.  I got to the venue about 5, second in line.  Then Mellie and Gina got there and we spent about 2 hours in the freaking cold and rain.  We heard her sound check, she did Winter, CLV and Annie.  A woman from one of the local websites took pictures of fans waiting in line, not all of them are up yet, but look at #11.  The link is here: www.albany2go.com

Finally got let in at 7:45, Carey Brothers came on and did his bit.  Gotta say he was nice to look at but I was bored.  The place was full, I heard over 200 tickets had been sold and I am sure there were more walk-ins.  It was a great crowd, not too loud but not deadly silent.

Really great stories, she was in a really funny mood last night.  The piano was a little out of tune and she didn't realize it until halfway through the show.  "oh this piano is out of tune.  There was a piano tuner here for like 4 hours... (starts to play and then says to Mark) oh no, is he here?"  He wasn't but it was so funny, then she said "It sounds great anyway..."  She swore a lot before CLV,  Mark was trying to tell her something as she moved to the Rhodes, which was not to swear, but she didn't figure it out until too late.  Then there was a small metal box attatched to the underside of the piano, and there was a green light on the display screen.  She stopped in the middle of one song (don't remember which one, Rinse maybe?) and asked Mark what the Hell it was because the green light was annoying her and she wanted to turn it off.  All you hear was Mark's voice on the sound system "That would be very bad!"

Meet and greet after was ok, you had to buy a copy of Harmonium to get the pink wrist band to stay inside after the encore and get in the line.  She was at a table just signing, Mark said no individual pictures.  She told my friend Cole she liked her necklace.

All in all a wicked fun time, can't wait for Turning Stone!

Other Musicians / The 5 Browns
« on: February 09, 2005, 01:30:27 pm »
woa, these kids are a-ficking-mazing!  If anyone watched Leno last night they were on and they blew me away.  They are 5 siblings who all went to Juliard for piano.  All play at once and each takes a different part trading off solos and harmonies, etc.  They do classical but also a really wicked West Side Story medley.  It's hard to believe they are only 19 to 25 years old!
