Usually I do a little description or whatever before, but I said everything I need to say in the song.

All I want to know is her name
And the places you go when I’m not looking
What is it about her that drew you away from me?
Is she prettier or funnier or does she drive a nicer car than me?

Yeah, so, here ya go. I like this one. I'm working on the music.

If you ask him
He will tell you everything is fine
But if you watch him
You will see everything is wrong

Not seeing how she uses and abuses

So, uh, yeah, this is the latest song I've written. I wrote it after listening to a conversation in, of all places, my anatomy class. This guy was talking like "I don't know why they're arguing...they're soulmates, they'll get married." So, yeah, this is my thoughts. Kinda cheesy, but....

Well, I hear all the talk of soulmates
And I can't help but think "Maybe I'm a little behind"
But who's business is it, finding soulmates
When we've still got our whole lives ahead?

I'm still young and I will not be held down by thoughts of tomorrow
When I've still got today
I'm still young
And my soulmate will come whenever fate sees fit

We're still in school with so much ahead
Nothing but change is guaranteed from here
So when I hear you talk of soulmates
I wonder if you realize how many more people we have to meet

I'm not sure if this goes in this section, but, uh, it has to do with my music so I figured it does... :lol:

I really want to start recording my songs and putting them up on the internet for all you to listen to. But...I have no idea how to go about this. Any suggestions/comments/etc?

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Nessa mentioned in AP

So I got the August issue of Alternative Press today (which is a sweet magazine if you like punk, hardcore, etc) and on the last page they always have a "Top 10" something or other. This months top 10 was the top 10 guilty pleasure CDs. Meech's The Spirit Room got 5% of the vote, and this is what the people at AP said.

"This one made us happy, 'cause it's got that "A Thousand Miles" song that makes us misty every time we hear it over the grocery-store PA and...wait, you mean thats Vanessa Carlton? So, who's Michelle Branch? Whatever- you try writing about this crap and keeping your facts straight."

I love Nessa with all my heart, but I just cracked up when I read this.

Ok, so the title doesn't really fit the song, but....oh well.

the sun is up but as usual I'm not
I'm still covered in my blankets with my eyes closed
dreaming of a far off land
I don't want to wake up
cause waking up means facing life
I don't wanna face another day of crappy t.v. and pizza rolls
I'm sleeping through "the best years of my life"

I've gotten to the point where the best way to pass the day
is to just sleep it out
hoping when I wake up tomorrow will be better

the sun is down but as usual I'm not
I've found it hard to sleep at night
when I sleep all day
sometimes I wish I wasn't up at night
when every creak is magnified
so mostly I lie in the dark thinking crazy thoughts
and finally when most are going to work
I'm finally going to sleep
I admit, I sleep past noon
but there's nothing wrong with that when

Anyone like Lisa Loeb? I loved "Stay" when it first came out, but I just bought the album a few months ago. I also have "Hello Lisa" which is awesome.
