Creative Endeavors / Piano Tracks

I like the Eb Minor Movement 1.
The start reminds me alot of the Dresden Dolls. It's nice and dark and vaguley creepy.

Can clearly hear the classical background you have :)

Keep up the awsome composing!

Creative Endeavors / Want You To Go (MP3)

Yes another one. I'm sorry!

Came up with the tune (if you could call it that) 2 days ago, and wrote the lyrics just tonight and recorded it.

It's my first attempt at adding some drums. Soundfonts don't work on my computer so I had to use WAV samples of drums and put them all together. But it came together quite well.

What do you think?

Good work!

Music sticks very well with the lyrics.
It's just a suggestion, but the strings would be perfect if it was just a violin.
My opinion.

Thank you and thanks for your opinion :)

I added the whole string section on top of the rest at the end because I wanted it to sort of build up, coming to a close sort of thing.

The "violin" sound is actually the cello sound on my piano, but I sort of went a bit high for a cello! Something I must fix. And I'll try out just using a violin.

Thanks again, it's very much appreciated.

The link isn't working :(

It's because you have to copy paste it. And make sure there's no space on the end when you do :)

Yay!
I just bought about $600 in stuff to start recording properly. I bought an Edirol UA-25 sound card
http://www.edirol.net/products/en/UA-25/index.html

A microphone and a heap of leads to hook up all my instruments to the sound card.
And I've been using Cakewalk Sonar LE to record and organise.
Anyway, here's something I wrote and recorded tonight, I hope you like:

You'll have to copy paste the URL into your browser. Sorry!

But I hope you enjoy :)

Creative Endeavors / Fade Away (MP3)
« on: September 12, 2005, 07:50:41 pm »
Here's a song I wrote which a few friends and I recorded when we got hold of a studio for a day.
It was done around August last year.

I'm on piano and vocals.

And forgive my untrained voice, but I have been put in contact with a lady who is the voice coach for big productions such as the Lion King and the Producers (in Australia). Can't wait to start learning!

My writing has sort of become a little more mellow lately. Without the guitar solos and stuff! Being more inspired by Vanessa Carlton lately. Back then, well for this song, my inspirations were mainly Muse and Ben Folds.
Anyway!
I hope you enjoy and would love to hear what you think. :D

I'm trying to learn how to play some of his songs. Can anyone tell me how accurate the books are? Should I keep playing them by ear, or is there somewhere I can find it, like here we have Vanessa's songs?

The books are very accurate.
The ones that have the whole score (Piano, Lyrics, Bass, Drums, and whatever else) are really great.

I recommend getting the album "Whatever and Ever Amen".
And also check out the songs 'Magic', 'Philosophy' and 'The Luckiest'.
'Philosophy' is extra fun to play on the piano, same with 'The Ascent of Stan'.

His live concerts are also great, he gets the crowd incredibly involved especially when he splits the crowd into sections to sing harmonies in some songs.

He just shows how good rock on piano can sound.

Creative Endeavors / My Empire (MP3)
« on: September 10, 2005, 11:57:25 am »
This is a song I call 'My Empire'.
The lyrical melody is totally unplanned, this is very obvious by the end of the song. There are also many obvious mistakes at the end of the song as I haven't really polished anything off yet and was basically just winging it near the end.
And please forgive my totally untrained voice (still seeking lessons).

Empire

Sitting alone in my empire
Drenched in the solitude of calm
Like a gentle wind swaying grass
Back and forth with a beat to last

Clear blue skies and golden sun
Only break for the horizon
But the endlessness they present
Enough for this place to ascent

Staged piano out on the grass
Opens for a gently tapped note
Light enough to be carried far
But deep enough to last and last

I will stay in here forever
In this perfect world of mine
The place that lifts me higher
This is my empire

Darkenning skies, vanishing sun
Open your eyes cause twilight comes
Let the colour surround you tight
In its embrace of liquid light

The colours of fire
Are taking me higher
In all its entire
This is my empire

This is my empire

Creative Endeavors / He Rides (MP3)
« on: September 10, 2005, 11:56:40 am »
This is an incomplete song I'm working on.
I'm sorry about the 'he rides' words being alot like 'she floats'. When I started to record this one I decided I needed some words in the chorus part as I didn't have one already, and 'he rides' is something I sort of just blurted out. It will almost definately change when I finish the song.
The voice is very soft in this as I had my iRiver on my lap and not near my mouth.
And forgive my totally untrained voice!

He walks alone
Through ghostly streets
Where the moonlight
And cold chill meets

He rides alone
He rides

Creative Endeavors / Crystal Waters (MP3)
« on: August 22, 2005, 06:35:36 am »
This is the first song I created after first hearing Harmonium. When I reached the piano I felt this massive wave of inspiration I've been missing for ages. And virtually made this one on the spot.
It repeats because I sort of just blurt out words, and to make it longer I repeat the verse until I write some more words for it.
