Creative Endeavors / My YouTube Account! :)

Hey guys! Haven't posted here in a while --- I've been like super busy recently (moving to a new place!).

But I thought I'd do some shameless self-promotion and give a link to my YouTube account. Right now, all that's there is a cover of (of course) A Thousand Miles, but within this weekend I should have an original song called Don't Come Back Around on there. :)

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks!
-David

My friend snapped some really good ones... I'm waiting for her to send them to me, but after that they're all yours. ;)

what did she end up singing?

Now, I didn't get there until after she had started (I blame the red line), but here's what I saw:

A Thousand Miles
Who's To Say
Heroes and Thieves
Half a Week Before the Winter

And walking in the rain... I'm really sorry to hear your car broke down! Oh, the perils of being a Nessaholic... :)

Hi!!! Not sure if this has been posted already, but I heard about this on the radio and immediately thought of y'all, so here's the website:

Well, at least she's playing another concert, right? :)

Edit: Just realized I'm in the wrong area... forgive me? ;) This should probably be in Live Shows.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Her record company
« on: October 02, 2008, 06:50:25 am »
Alright, so obviously we're not all going to agree as to what the best Vanessa album is... but here's what I think.

For me, Harmonium and Heroes & Thieves are the best... and, while Be Not Nobody has some great moments, it's not even close to the other 2 in terms of musical complexity, vocal abilities, and melodic content.

Harmonium is more like the sophomore album to Be Not Nobody (which it is, but hear me out). Think about it: same record label, slightly more mature direction, more creative control, Ron Fair still being available, etc.

And obviously, Heroes & Thieves, seeing as it is on a different record label, is going to sound a little bit different. However, I actually think that while it can get very commercial and synthesized at times, the songs themselves are wonderful. What I think could have made this better is using the same style of arrangement and mix that they used on the two previous albums: supplementing V's inspiring piano (not synthesizer, piano) accompaniment with strings and other such orchestral instruments. Honestly, that's the only thing that I think may have obstructed the presentation of these equally wonderful songs.

Hehe I don't hate her voice, but I found her too overbearing in the song. I saw VC in concert in Alexandria and the song was actually a lot better without Stevie.

I actually really love Harmonium (but IMO Heroes and Thieves looks kinda the most like her? Haha not the intimidating part, but it looks like her.). Thought that the piano was a good idea, and the cover fit the album.

Hehe good call... that American Juniors girl was WAAAAY better on the show.

I've actually found a few people I like, and really want to wait until Hollywood (like most of the time) to pick somebody who I LOVE. Haha. And generally, my favorites (Carrie Underwood, Katharine McPhee, and Jordin Sparks) have made it really far (2 winners and 1 runner-up). So, hopefully I can do it again lol.

But the one girl whose last name was like McKinney or something... she was kinda Broadway and I loved her. haha.

Hey iamcoffee!!! (love the username, btw)

Where I go for songs/sheet music is http://www.freewebs.com/nessfan12/. I've downloaded her demo tape and other performances. Hope this helped!

Actually... I kinda had an issue with the lead girl. As hard as it is to sing a cappella (and I'm not knocking her), she had some major pitch issues. It's cool to hear this song we've all heard like fifteen million times a different way. It was pretty cool, and that particular a cappella group does a lot of popular music covers.
