I just realized you can sing "Baby" over top of "I Don't Want to be a Bride"-- so there's that...

Just an FYI, I live in Chicago and I know for a fact that the Chicago Public Library gives free ravina tickets away to library card holders...

Such an amazing song and vibe. I LOVE the sound of it being recoded onto tape. Definitely captures the vibe of her live shows too. I think this will be the best album to date. Can't wait for the tour!

Vanessa Songs / Lyrics / Sheet Music / Re: London

I like everything but the 'heavenly creatures' part. Something about it doesn't sound right to me. I think it's the 'creatures' part. You don't normally think of a person as a creature (which I'm thinking she is metaphorically relating them to). To me creature sounds better to describe something odd or mysterious.

Aren't they creatures though? I mean, they definitely aren't human... if they even exist.

Just saying....

I'm so excited and am going! She hasn't been to Michigan since BNN in 2002.

Hopefully I can meet her this time...

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING ABOUT HOM!!!
« on: February 13, 2008, 08:49:43 pm »
So I've listened to hands on me like a billion times... I knew it was about a love story and that jazz, but I did realize this until now.

HOM is about buddhism!

Like reincarnation of a couple throughout different lifetimes. That's so ingenious... it's like when Third Eye Blind wrote Semi-Charmed Kind of Life about crystal meth. It was so obvious but no one even processed it.

Not saying that Buddhism is comparable to crystal meth.

Or that this whole thing wasn't completely obvious to everyone from the get-go.

Or if this even makes sense.

Okay I'm done. ha

Here are the Lyrics:
"Warm Blooded Killer"
by Mitchel Migliore

Just take this knife
and take my life
will you turn it to the left
or will you crank it to the right?
It doesn't matter baby, just throw it out of sight

And take this gun
I swear I won't run
and you can litter me with bullets baby
so you can be alone, that's what you've always wanted

Yeah those are tears  you're crying, tears of laughter
this is just your happliy ever after

and now it's time to

sit back, relax, and let there be fun
this war is over i'm no more and it is clear you won
so be free, he'll see, and I swear i wont tell
but when you get there send a postcard with love
with love from hell

and take this noose
put it to good use
won't you catch me while I'm kneeling then hang me from the ceiling
sit and watch me squirm, just sit and watch me

Yeah those are tears  you're crying, tears of laughter
this is just your happliy ever after

and now it's time to

sit back, relax, and let there be fun
this war is over i'm no more and it is clear you won
so be free, he'll see, and I swear i wont tell
but when you get there send a postcard with love
with love from

And take this path I paved
send me to my grave
sure it's the road less traveled
and there's no room to veer
yeah your decisions clear
you're a warm blooded killer

and take this knife
and take my life

and now it's time to

sit back, relax, and let there be fun
this war is over i'm no more and it is clear you won
so be free, he'll see, and I swear i wont tell
but when you get there send a postcard with love
with love
with love
with love
'cause you're a warm blooded killer
yeah you're a warm blooded killer

INDIE IS NOT A STYLE OF MUSIC!!!!!!

you're both wrong.

She's a classically trained pianist/singer songwriter.

That's probably the best way to put it.

I'm pretty sure even if HOM flops with the general public Vanessa will still have a career in the music industry.

There are SO many artists that keep recording that would love to sell half as many copies as she has sold of "H&T"

Joanna Newsom
Ben Kweller
Broken Social Scene
Emily Haines
Metric

The list could go on and on.

Nothing to worry about folks, Vanessa will be around for as long as she wants to be.

Fools like me really set the mood in the last episode. I'm really glad they used a live version and not the album version--I fet like the audience was able to feel the raw emotion behind the lyrics better.
