Don't know if that piece of info is true but it's somewhat shocking, even for me who isn't a fan of Stephan.

well, i've heard firsthand from fans who have seen him making out backstage with girls at recent concerts. i'm pretty sure that constitutes as "cheating."

I'm not picking here, but wouldn't that actually be secondhand?

pretty sure it doesn't matter..

I'm pretty sure it's hearsay.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Is this Vanessa?

I wouldn't rely on comparisons to official promo shots of Vanessa because they're all photoshopped.

I definately think that's her. That masscara she's wearing though is giving her spider lashes.  :?

I have a habit of lurking this forum for current up to date news... and as a result I really don't know any of you. Sooo, here's a picture of myself in an effort to introduce myself more properly. The name's James. I've been following Vanessa since she debuted. So, hey. Or something. :3

I haven't shaven in a couple of days, excuse the scruffiness, haha.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa's New song HOUSE

Just thought i'd mention...

there are many things that have been recorded over the years that have been shared with the overall community.  If you are unwilling to share information or recordings why even bring them up?  It is only going to isolate you more from the community and irritate people.  I'm sure you guys that got to go and see/hear new songs have also been happy to download or listen to songs recorded by others over the years that were unreleased.

I am really happy that a bunch of you guys were able to go and see Vanessa perform and show support but also remember that Irv and other individuals are professionals and have been in the public eye for quite some time.  I'm sure they know if they want to guarantee that something doesn't get leaked to the public to not say anything.

It basically boils down to an issue of ego and elitism. If someone feels that an unreleased song shouldn't be made available for download and released to the general public. Why bother even recording it? I mean, who's to say what anyone is and is not entitled to. This whole House thing is pretty hypocritical if you ask me.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / What do you think of this?

Wow, if not a lot of people respond to the already existing thread about this, it doesn't mean you should go ahead and make another one.

why would she/we use the same picture from harmonium at all...

I think it's pretty obvious that the image in question to be used for album artwork is the second image and not the Harmonium image. I mean, use some common sense. And even then I believe these images would just be used as the basis to create something entirely new with new promo shots of Vanessa, if this ever came to fruition I mean. At least that's what I gathered.

The person who created these images does need to give credit to the photographers who took the pictures of Vanessa though. He's taking someone else's work and embilishing on it with his own ideas. Which is cool, however, he can't take credit for work he didn't do, such as taking the actuall photographs.

And it seems to me that the people on this board are pretty uninterested in this thread. Whatever. Try getting in touch with Vanessa's agency if you really want to see this happen, or just send Irv Gotti a private message with links to the work on the official board, he seems to be hanging around there a lot as of late. *Shrugs*

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa Carlton next album cover?

I really like both pictures. As for the first one I think I would've liked to see the image of the Harmonium cover not retain it's square shape, such as the obvious straight line on the top portion of it and have seen it blended more with the shape of the swirve.

And I really like the second picture a lot. It looks like all her thoughts and ideas are swelling out from her mind, creating almost a stream of consciousness effect, the unicorn is brilliant.

I could easily see this style of art used for promo work or website design. I'm not entirely sure about the use of it as an album cover however.

If this is for real, it's a bunch of BS that it wasn't on her official site. I've been a longtime and dedicated fan, as have many on this board. After 4+ years, I feel like many of us deserve better.
I'm not pleased.
Dan/NS

The thing that makes no sense to me is that, IF that myspace IS hers, why has she not definitively said so?  She said one was coming, but there are all kinds of bogus things happening at MS.  I mean, it is THE marketing tool for musicians....why would she not want all of us over there asap?

Dan/NS

Dude, what is your problem. Every fan of Vanessa's is entitled to seeing her perform an exclussive show, regardless as to how long anyone has been following her or if they're a nessaholic or not. Your elitism is completely unnecessary. Artists announce exclussive shows through My Space and not their official websites ALL THE TIME; such as Rilo Kiley and Regina Spektor among others, it's common. And why do they only do it through My Space? Duh, because it's exclussive. Not everyone can go. So, the next time you log onto My Space, check to see if any bulletins have been posted by the people that run her My Space page just like everyone else does. Instead of whining about how you weren't privvy to this information. Don't expect Vanessa to constantly cater to your needs as a "dedicated fan". Just go see another show the next time she's around NYC. Not a big deal.

Btw- Michelle Branch has gone country, Vanessa's (possibly) gone rap, and Christina Aguilera's gone jazz. I suppose this means if Britney Spears comes back she'll go trash metal. lol

And, uh, did you mean THRASH metal?

That was most likely a pun.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / guitar chords for nessa's songs

http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=mn0049040&bookmark=0&artist=Vanessa+Carlton&instrument=piano

If you buy the Harmonium sheet music book that was published you'll notice that there are guitar chords above every measure so that a guitarist can follow along and accompany the piano part. The link provided will show you an example.

Musicnotes.com is pretty nifty.

Even though the actuall arrangements used in the book are crap, at least the chords are right.

Inspired and catchy as ATM?

Catchy, yes,

Inspired, hardly.

I love ATM, but in all honesty, it's a fluke. And even Vanessa recognizes that. In one of the video interviews done with RollingStone when she first came out she even admitted that she had massive writers block when trying to finish that song. That's why the same descending pattern appears over and over again through out the whole goddamn song. And that's also why the song consists of just three chords for the most part. Why do people not realize this?

<<Because there are more than three chords in the song, that's why.  And why would 3 chords be a bad thing?>>

I most likely committed blasphemy by saying that, haha, but that's just how I feel. I don't mean to offend anyone by bashing ATM, because I'm not. It's just not the end all and be all of songwriting. I'm totally going off topic and ranting. Sorry.

<<<Who said ATM is the be all and end all of songwriting?  Not I.  Look, if you just want to defend The Matrix, fine.  I doubt everything that they have done came off the top of their head(s).  What IS your point, being crapping in this thread?

Dan/NS

There's a reason I said for the most part, which leaves room for other chords, thanks. And there's nothing wrong with that, it's just simple.

My only point, is that people insist that Vanessa's working with other people will never be able to top songs she's written like ATM, but I disagree. For example, musically speaking, White Houses blows ATM out of the water.

Being crapping in this thread? ...huh? Either way, I appologized if I came across as rude or insulting already in that previous post. So excuse me for just stating an opinion.  :?
