General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Re: New Album- Euphoria?!

According to razor and tie she is still listed as an artist on their site, although I was sure she said/or we found out that she had cut ties with them.

If she's not signed, somebody should snap Liberman up in a heartbeat - who wouldn't jump at the chance to have the one and only VC on their label?!

Here's a really short little video of Vanessa before the event, talking about song writing and Stevie:

You and Vanessa are buying a house in Nashville, is that right?

We just closed on it, bought a house in Inglewood. A fixer-upper. It's a 1930s bungalow, we're into it. I lived in Nashville for about four years, and I moved to New York last July. You know, New York … I dunno. You know that Jim Croce song, "New York's Not My Home"? It's just how I've always kind of felt about the place. I like it, but I don't really like living there, you know? I guess Vanessa could tell I missed Nashville a lot, and luckily she loves the city too. We found a house down there; we're still gonna keep the apartment in New York. Do the back-and-forth for however long we can afford it. The longer we hold onto the apartment in New York, it's just appreciating in value every year.

Question asked, question answered :)

Wow, and what a beautiful house it seems (at least from the garden).

I like to think she would keep the nyc apartment, purely because in the Pleased2MeerU documentary, she said 'once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker',but I've no idea.

I have no idea what theme of artwork she is going for, those pictures alongside the track names range from mountain paintings, vintage surfer photos, film screencaps, tarot cards - quite hard to narrow it down really!

If anything, I'd hedge my bets towards that mountain painting, a kind of  warm, dreamy and colourful palette/tone inspired by maybe travels and memories (like the willow tree)

Me too! Didn't she tweet a pic of Victor with a camera strapped to him, with something like 'Liberman from a low ride perspective'? Maybe that could be something to do with a 'four elements' esque video. Or maybe I'm just being very very optimistic  :P

In Our Time is the Deer Tick duet song, although I think John does play the guitar as well on Matter of Time.

That track list looks pretty complete, unless she's changed the name of Patience at the last minute. I'm starting to want all the pre-album interviews, videos etc now! :)

After tipping my head upside down for a few minutes, I don't think it is. I kinda wish it was, it's a very beautiful photograph, but I'm pretty sure that's not Vanessa's face.

Whoops about the song title - I feel almost treasonous, sorry Vanessa! ;D

Do you think we'll get any live renditions of some of the tracks.

I know, right?! It never seems to make the cut.

New tweet: (6) Something Where Nothing Used to Be - sounds like a good old fashioned cryptic Vanessa  title. I love these little teases she's giving us.

So the original 'track list' is as follows:

Patience
7 Swords
Unlock the Lock
Take it Easy
The Only Way
Do It
Let it Go
Cold Young Heart
Never Together
Money Maker

Track list as it stands is:

Willows
Take it Easy
3. House of Seven Swords
Patience (?)
A Matter of Time
Unlock the Lock
10. Ascension

I guess we'll have to wait for the full lyrics of everything, to find if the new titles were substitutions from the 'original' track list, or new songs entirely.

Just out of curiosity, how spoiled is everyone? I've listened to Take it Easy and Unlock the Lock, and that tiny Patience snippet, but aside from that I have no idea about the rest of the songs, I'm keeping them fresh for the album.

Woo! New song that I don't remember seeing Ascension on that chalkboard picture from StyleLikeU.. I guess that was a rough early draft.  I have a feeling for some reason that this will just be instrumental, really dreamy and thick synth sounds. I guess we'll wait and see.

I guess we're at the beginning of the speculation that surrounds every album, I love it! Any ideas of artwork/cover themes, I thought maybe she might incorporate the tarot cards, but in a subtle way, maybe just the symbols, rather than the entire cards.

That's awesome about the Willow tree, I'm glad she's incorporated it into some of her music. Good point about the spelling, I was going to suggest the interview was wrong but then there's that Instagram picture of the painting and it's spelt without the 'e' too...

Unusual, isn't it, to have the first single as the third track? She usually goes for having it in first place, such as Nolita Fairytale and Carousel.

Not that I'm questioning Vanessa, of course! Hopefully, it'll start getting some press now that it's mastered, which I guess is one of the latter steps to completion, as it's awfully quiet around here.
