« on: January 14, 2010, 01:33:42 pm »If you live on planet earth, you are going to go thru some kind of depression...it's called LIFE!!!People just nabbed onto that. Artists are known to become depressed, we are uber sensitive, therefore life effects us in a profound way.
V fans have been saying this for years about her....everyone goes through this...if you don't, your just not human, or you are not out there living.....if you work, go too school, go out into the world at all!!! your going to deal with stress, depression, ups and downs....this always comes up when things are slow...and then she releases a song called 'nolita fairytale'. enough with the depression stuff...
I agree, stop dwelling and just be glad we have her.

The year of Magical Thinking was great. I read it just to read it, but it helped me to stop magical thinking over the loss of a friend, he moved and told me basically to go away. I love him but at least I don't obsess anymore.

I can't believe it!I too have been a V fan for somewhere around 8 years, and have never once seen her live, this is my year, that's the biggest reason I want this album DONE!Just wait 'til you see her in person. However beautiful she looks in pictures, she is absolutely, drop-dead GORGEOUS in person. When she performed at Joe's Pub in NYC at the end of '07 after H & T came out, we had the first table, literally touching the stage and maybe 6 feet away from her...breathtakingly beautiful...and SO talented...sigh...
It's actually surprising how true this is. VC is actually a lot more attractive in person than in the pictures you see on the internet, if you can believe that.
How do you post pictures? I'd like the nessaholic opinion on whether I look like V like I've been told.

You are SO right! It's really quite a big deal she's doing her own producing, and she's right on time.
Personally if I was V I would probably stay away from fans too. People get crazy. I think it's ok that we are a little in the dark and after 8 years we all should be used to it.

Every time, just before the release of the first single V disappears entirely, and then the next we hear, NEW ALBUM!!!I'm pretty sure she's just absorbed in making the album. I believe there is an interview on youtube where she mentions it.I think, well actually I hope, she's just in a creative zone, it always seems that the closer to an album release she gets quiet and disappears. Also I believe she struggles with depression and maybe the whole disney thing shook her up a bit?

I think Irv dropped he ball for sure, there was NO promotion for H&T. And I know of plenty of indie artists who are just out there for the fun of it and they are in my opinion, successful. And they don't promote too much either. What is important, above all is the quality of music, that it continues to get better, and I think V has done that. I hope that the album is kept very bare bones, like just her piano and Skye Steele on London, Fair Weather Friends, Waltz, and if she plays guitar it not being over-produced. I think the only thing about H&T that disappointed me was too much production, not enough orchestration, a departure from the classical roots that are SO classically V.

If V has invested her money right she probably will never need to use music to specifically make money to meet essential needs again unless she wants to.I remember that quote too! Classic V! I hope she continues to write songs about vampire wars, sylphs, and london's winding streets!
I always think back about how V said ATM is the song that allows her to write songs about vampire wars.

Well think about it, in NF she says "take away my record deal, go on I don't need it" so she's not hurting in her beautiful apartment.
I always have appreciated ATM I just think it was and still is overplayed. It's a beautiful song with a lot of classical elements. I love the piano and orchestration.

A Jason Mraz style comeback would be nice, except than everyone would forget ATM, which would be a pity. Even though that would be awkward, it also would not necessarily be a bad thing. I don't know. It's mixed bag.
