:) I don't mind shorter songs... honestly I prefer them if they have really good lyrics and music. Vignettes of emotion and mood... that's what I hope for. I do wish it was longer though... but I'm sure it will be a lovely experience :3 can't wait to pop the album in for the first time and feel the journey

I am not sure I hear the word "thunder" though I have no other suggestion as to what it may be. I try really hard to make it fit bbut in my mind I cannot.  I will have to listen to it in complete silence some day when I have time!

huh interesting because I totally here "thunder" the lyrics I'm iffy on are "Dancing all dancing spells never unearthed" cuz I have no idea what she says through most of it, but I hear "under" rather than "unearth" for some reason.

I don't know about you guys, but for me I like the live versions of "I Don't Wanna Be A Bride" "Carousel" "Tall Tales For Spring" "London" "Fair-Weather Friends" just the way they are. I kind of hope that she doesn't add a lot of drums or anything on the studio versions. I think that would kind of ruin them for me. That's what happened with "Heroes & Thieves" for me. There's an acoustic version out there on YouTube, and I really liked that version, and then when the album version came out, she added a lot of strings and drums, and, I don't know, but they just kind of took something away from the song, in my opinion. "Tall Tales For Spring" sounded great as "Waltz" with just the piano and violin too.

I dunno... I really love Vanessa songs when they're simple and raw like that, I think they have such a stripped-down, emotional feel to them that way, but I am really curious to see the fully produced versions! I love intricate instrumentals that you can't really achieve live without an orchestra live, and I think there's a unique beauty in those additions in her studio versions. I would love to hear what other sorts of unique instrumentals she's added in to the album that she can't create with just her piano! I think it just adds another layer to Vanessa's vision and musical style.

Thanks!  ;D

And I agree. Only list those that V did.

Hey, may I suggest that you group those that are in the album? Just an opinion.

Oh, BTW. I just remembered something she demoed in Cribs. It was just a snippet, though.

ah, I thought there was a 3rd untitled song, I forgot about it though, could you link me, please?

Sorry, I can't find the vid where V actually played it. That's just a cover. (:

Okie dokie, the Cribs episode isn't on YouTube anymore... however, I have both parts of it saved. The clip you're talking about is in the first half of the episode... But I dunno if it's really an unreleased song or if it's simply a tune Vanessa came up with to show off the tone of her piano because it's only a couple of seconds long and rather repetitive, but still pretty.

I uploaded it if you want it.

I edited the two portions together. I had to cut out a middle portion of the recordings because the two clips I had didn't fit well together with them there. I think I made it sound pretty natural and its an idea of what it COULD sound like.

I've never uploaded files before so let me know if this link works or if I'm doing something horribly wrong!

So I've decided after hearing the song "Carousel" that the album title "Rabbits on the Run" is simply perfect. Fantastic

I have the feeling that "Rabbits" will be a spring version of "Harmonium" which was more of a fall/winter album.

I agree and love the way you worded that! definitely hope so. Harmonium is my favorite hands down. With what I've heard thus far on this album though... it may just be my new favorite. We'll see~~~

From the first time I heard this, I always thought that London was a conflict between religion and science, as a literally take on "Heavenly creatures" and "wait for it"  and "Heaven" waiting for us.  Personally, I think about it's like... agnosticism and spirituality vs. a set religion and criteria for faith.  I guess it also fits Tall Tales for Spring.  She seems very "I believe in hard, factual science now."

I agree, both seem to me to be about questioning religion. I'd like to hear what she has to say about the themes in her music though. I personally am not a religious person, but V seems like she always has been. It just makes me wonder what's going on inside that head of hers! haha

I only heard it maybe the first time she said "fair weather friends" but not at all with the second one. It is possible you're right, but it just doesn't make sense to me. I'm just really am not hearing that "-ed" at all except for on the first time she says "fair-weather" and even that is iffy to me because of all the background noise. Who knows, perhaps my hearing is just off--- we will find out eventually! haha.

I agree that the first version does fit the "heavenly creatures" part better. But I still don't like that line so I don't mind if the new version doesn't compliment it because I just want it to be gone! haha. I actually think I prefer the new lyrics because they are more unique sounding. It's kind of a toss up for me though, cuz both are good.

Every time there's a new version of this song posted I always hope to myself that she changed the words "heavenly creatures" to something different. I've just never much cared for it. It just doesn't flow very well in my opinion... I keep hoping it'll grow on me but it still hasn't! Perhaps the studio version will be better. :3

I'm pretty sure it's still just "fair-weather friend" rather than fair-weathered. At the end of one of lines in the new recording it sounded a little like "fair-weathered" but all the rest of them lacked the "ed" sound I thought. Also, "fair-weather friend" is an idiom, so I doubt she'd change it to "weathered" unless she was trying to play with the word in some way to give it a different sort of meaning, but I'm pretty sure that isn't what she did here.

Also, I know you said you were absolutely positive, but it sounds like she said "now you're fragile as porcelain" which I also think adds a more ironic tone to the song when she follows with "drinking cheap wine on airplanes." And in the other recordings she said "you're fragile as porcelain" as well. I do kind of like it saying that she's the fragile one though, and that version definitely suits the tone of the latest recording of it.

I liked the dreamlike quality of it, and liked the changes she made to it a lot! But I think that this version was much more somber and lacked some of the fire it had in the other versions. I hope she maintains a little of her previous ferocity in the album recording.

I love this song. :)
