Other Musicians / Patrick Nuo
« on: April 03, 2003, 03:13:07 am »
He's a new 20-year-old Swiss singer I heard the other day on VIVA. He's just released his first single, "5 Days", and is in the process of recording his first album. During the interview I saw on VIVA he played a couple other songs, which are not downloadable on Kazaa (yet), and it sounded pretty good to me. Check him out if you can!

His official webpage is http://www.patrick-nuo.de It's in German, but have a look anyway, there's pics and you can listen to "5 Days" & see the vid.

Btw, he's sooooo gorgeus!

Completely Off-Topic / "And I dream your dream for you...
« on: April 02, 2003, 08:50:21 am »
... so now your dream is real
how can you look at me as if I was just another one of your deals?
You can fall for chains of silver
You can fall for chains of gold
You can fall for pretty strangers and the promises they hold"

Possibly one of the best songs ever. Nuff said. Just felt like posting.

Other Musicians / Evanescence #1 on the Spanish charts!!!! Woohoo!!
« on: March 31, 2003, 09:01:50 am »
I had a look at the (otherwise very poor) state of the Spanish charts, the Top 40, and was happily surprised to find Evanescence almost in the Top 10! Yay!

Vote for Evanescence!
Just go through the list, find their name (#12 this week) and click on VOTA next to it. A pop-up window will appear, to say your vote has been registered. :-)

Completely Off-Topic / The Oscars! What do you think?
« on: March 24, 2003, 03:21:50 pm »
I was pretty surprised! "The Pianist" won 2 major award when nobody really gave a damn, but I'm happy for Polanski, I love European cinema and it's always cool to know some European director won an Oscar  :)

The best part of the night came when Pedro Almodovar won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. He's one of my favourite film directors, and HE'S SPANISH!!! YaY!! Plus, my favourite actress (Leonor Watling) who stars in his film, Talk To Her, went to the Oscars with him so that was an added to the show!  :D

Shame Julianne Moore didn't win any of the two awards she was nominated for.  :(

There's Amodovar holding his Oscar  :D

There's Leonor Watling (left) with Almodovar and Spanish actor Javier Camara, who also stars in Talk To Her

« on: March 20, 2003, 10:47:20 am »
Hehe look at what I found...

(this is from http://www.top40-charts.com/):

"Other notable debuts this week include:
- Razor & Tie's Kidz Bop Vol. 3 (No 17, on sales of 55,000 units). The collection, which is the subject of a huge TV advertising blitz aimed at children, features 30 newly recorded, kid-friendly versions of hits like Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" and Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles." "

You can go here to see all the songs... This is how the Kidz Bop page introduces the CD:

"Here's the long-awaited follow-up to the smash-hit, best-selling children's album, Kidz Bop 2. Like it's predecessor, Kidz Bop 3 features 30 newly-recorded, kid-friendly versions of today's biggest hits, including Complicated, Fallin', Just A Friend, Gotta Get Through This, A Moment Like This, and many more

Disc 1
1. Complicated | Kidz Bop Kids
2. Dilemma | Kidz Bop Kids
3. Soak Up The Sun | Kidz Bop Kids
4. The Middle | Kidz Bop Kids
5. Hey Baby | Kidz Bop Kids
6. Family Affair | Kidz Bop Kids
7. A Moment Like This | Kidz Bop Kids

For those of you who understand Spanish here's the link
News

Here's the translation (sorry if it's a bit crappy, I am pretty much crap at translating):

"Vanessa Carlton is in Europe (though she won't come to Spain) to present the songs in her debut album Be Not Nobody.

Nessa, who is already 22, is thinking of recording a second album due to the success obtained with her first CD...
The young pianist already has 10 songs that will be part if this new record, though there will be more as she has said she never stops writing new stuff

Nessa does not rule out to record her album both in the United States and in Europe to be able to count on producers as Daniel Lanois (U2 or Bob Dylan) and Nigel Godrich (Beck or Radiohead) ..."

The news date late Jan, but the last paragraph seemed interesting. I don't know if anyone had posted this info already, sorry if it had been posted, but I hadn't read it before. Sounds cool that she might record here  :)

Apart from that, the page (a community about pop music) had a special about Vanessa, posting her bio and some pics. The pics were all the ones used in the official page. As you can see, we're very retarded in Spain, but at least someone has payed some attn to Nessa somewhere in the country...

Other Musicians / Jason Mraz

What do you guys think of him? Has anybody listened to his latest CD ("Waiting for my rocket to come")? I love it! And I'm in love with another of his songs I d/l called 0% Interest... that song is awesome!

It was about time someone started a pics thread here    Even
though most of us know what the rest of us look like already, seeing new pics is always nice  :P So, c'mon guys, post away and show yer pretty faces!

To start with I just picked a random pic out of the London album thingy. Here's me walking and talking at the same time... not a good thing to do as you can see.

It was actually one of those pics where someone yells your name, you turn round and suddenly see the flash on your face and realise someone's just taken a pic of u! LOL

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / About the VCMB
« on: March 15, 2003, 10:27:26 am »
I just read Jon's post there about leaving and wanted to write my two cents about it. The board is so f*cked up it won't let me post, so I decided it was about time I come here. It was so sad reading about Jon wanting to leave and reading all the old schooler's thoughts on it.

I get the impression this is gonna be the only place where we can keep the atmosphere that used to be on the boards at the time all the Big Dawgs were there, and happy as I am to be getting that back, leaving the VCMB aside is really sad. I know, I know there's nothing too interesting there to read about, and that the board has lost all its magic. I realised too. But it's sad to know the place that felt like home for ages to me is just not what it was. After reading Let's, Joe's and everyone else's replies I felt all nostalgic.

I mean, ATR! Woah! Those were the days!! To me, personally, the board was (and still is) a window to the NESSAholic world I couldn't get hold of cos I lived so far away from everyone. It was the way to know about the concerts everyone had been to and how they'd all met Vanessa... now all that seems to have died out cos everyone that was there back then has left. I don't wanna give the impression I am sad about being here, it'll take time to get used to this place but after all, the holics are here so it should be like home too huh? I am just sad everyone has given in and decided it's not worth giving the board another chance. The pre-BnN feeling could come back, since there's another record coming in some time, so there's no way we should give up on that. As long as we stay fans...

Introduce Yourself / Yeah... it's Nerea...
« on: March 15, 2003, 10:14:31 am »
I finally decided to post here.... I have never posted here on a regular basis but circumstances tell me I am gonna have to do so soon. So for those of you who do not know me, I'm Nerea, the one and only Spanish VC fan, been a fan since Jan last year, very VERY pre-BnN :) and in Feb this year I was finally lucky enough to catch her at her London concert  :D

I am on my first year in university, studying Economic Law, and I'm 18. That's basically all I can say about myself. Not that it's really interesting but it's a start.

Much <3 to all

What a crappy board we have! I should use this one a lot more but right now there isn't anyone  :? and in the other one there were a few ppl... so it makes it a bit more boring, having to talk to myself haha We have to tell everyone to come here when ther board crashes (and when it doesn't) so we all know where to gather

Hope someone reads this and answers

Love

Nerea
